Also, one thing I was counting on for this draft was for some of the CC draftees to put themselves in the pool after leaving CC, but Newguy posted last night that his team was disbanding after this Sunday anyways, so it might be better just to push it back until Monday or Tuesday since that would put the entire CC roster into the pool so long as they want to be there.

Quote:k. I switched the order. If your basing draft order by who asked first then Fap should be first since I have asked you two times in the past few weeks. If you basing it on who posted first then again it should be fap as smoke was the first leader to ask in the thread.
I called for a draft 2 fridays ago and again after that you told me you would set up a draft the past Monday but you never did since there was no one in the draft pool. No one was added to the draft pool so I don't see now why HB is successful in getting a draft and I was not. -
Quote:That's fine, if people want to vote on that sooner then Sunday we can just post it before Sunday after we receive a majority either way.I think Dex already pointed this out but I would like to know the results of #1 before answering question #2 as it could effect the way a team wants to vote.
In all honesty, I don't feel all that strongly about any of the options at this point. I think no matter what gets picked people will be upset about it. -
Quote:Oh okay, yeah I guess I didn't catch that. So that would include things like the placate proc and stuff, which I agree those should be fixed because they are 100% broken. You really don't see the issue with incarnate powers in PvP?
Every AT can get a massive heal, long lasting DoT proc damage, pets that do PvE damage in PvP, nukes for everyone (including tanks and scrapper- sucks to be you MMs).
Thats just one side of the issue, the other is the flip of the old:
"why do I have to go to pvp zones to get my badges?"
I would say:
"Why do I have to PvE to get my super PvP powers?"
Not only do incarnates sort of make it necessary to run itrials, when they release new versions of powers (look at lore) and they are much better than the old ones you have to run the trials all over again to build up that new power set.
Also Kat not sure if you understood what I ment by broken powers: I was thinking of things like Ninja run when it was unsupressed SJ in PvP or Poison Ray when you could stack its -res up to 40%, things like the level of spirit shark would fall into the last category I said, "other stuff" because while yeah sharks are pretty over powered, they aren't really broken.
Also, I don't necessarily think Incarnates should be removed from PvP, I think that would do more harm then good. I think they should be a lot less effective in PvP, but I highly doubt that the developers have the ability to balance Incarnates as they have shown little ability to balance anything else. I think if you removed them you would have a lot of angry people who actually did go out of their way to grind them out specifically for PvP, who would have just wasted a lot of time. -
Okay, the spreadsheet is linked in the OP... atm it has 5 people, but 4/5 of those I'm pretty sure don't play anymore. If anybody has people they want in the pool, make sure that you tell them to enter today, or you can sign them up yourselves if you want. The new section for this draft is at the bottom of the spreadsheet.
I also added Exile to the list although I'm fairly sure that we won't be picking anybody. -
Updated the list, I will probably just run the draft through the google docs spreadsheet with another section tacked on. I'll post the link in a few mins.
-
Honey Badgers asked for a supp draft this Friday, so I just wanted to make sure everybody knows that it is happening.
draft pool: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...US&pli=1#gid=0
Any team can enter it, the draft order will just be the order that teams post here to enter if they wish to.
1. FAP
2. Honey Badgers
3. Shenanigans
4. Exile
I would expect the draft to be around 9 PM eastern/6 pacific. -
Quote:The ability for players to get powers 5 levels above their exemp'd level in PvP zones had a bitter-sweet feeling for me. On one hand, it allowed more flexibility in Siren's builds, but on the other hand, threw off the balance in Sirens pretty bad, and kind of made a lot of the reasons why people PvP'd in Sirens (myself included) moot. Now that you can take Epic powers in Sirens, the only reason to PvP in Sirens over RV is if you don't like Incarnates, beyond that they both have the same balance issues at this point.Honestly, players getting powers higher than what they are exempted to really screwed up the pvp zones.
I used to love to pvp in Sirens when it was T9-less. Warburg was a fun place to fight without epic powers. Lowering the level to take epics from 41 to 35 once again really screws with the pvp zones. (or maybe as Dahjee might say- an opportunity to adapt but not adjust or something)
Sep- I am not going to speak for Ares but from what I'm reading he isn't opposed to stalkers having spirit sharks, just opposed to them having access to spirit sharks in Sirens.
Ares- You can get epic sheilds on blasters from Soul, mu and lolmunitions at 35 so you can't really use that as a reason for not allowing sharks in Sirens.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
As far as bigger issues to fix for pvp- yes. I think though there will always be a difference in view from arena pvpers to zone pvpers and even from RV pvpers to Sirens pvpers.
I would fall on the side of- fix broken powers 1st, then TS, then remove incarnates from PvP all together, and then whatever else.
I tend to think that changes to the system should trump balancing at this point, however, I think we would be more likely to see balancing then any real change to the PvP system, so it's still worth it to bring up ideas for balancing broken powers and what not, imo. -
I'm not sure if you said that to make a point, or because that's how you personally feel, or both. Either way, there's truth behind that statement, which is if anything being changed in the name of PvP has even a slight possibility to effect PvE'ers it probably won't happen. I can definitely see people QQing about how it ruins their build or something like that for whatever reason.

Quote:Exile wanting to beat WARE has nothing to do with the change, not sure how many times I have to say that before people get it.Why run a regular season at all then? There is no incentive for winning if you are guaranteed a spot in the post-season. Just go as is and do 1-4 are in, move on.
Round robin would be fine though...as long as the qualified teams are involved.
3/5 wouldn't be bad, not so hot on double elim. Couldn't it end up in basically the same result? There should be a 2-0 team, a 0-2 team and two 1-1 teams...I'd rather allow WARE to pick their first round opponent for the initial round and go from there.
Still not getting why we need to reinvent the wheel. If Exile are confident they can beat WARE they will get out of round one and do so. If WARE picks Exile as their preferred opponent you get your potential round two lineup up front. Not to mention the longer this goes on the more apathy and boredom will set in...shorter leagues >> longer ones.
In the double elim setup the league would only be longer for the final 2 teams, as the other 2 would both be eliminated by the 2nd round, Silit showed me a pretty simple bracket for it.
In any event, with any of the options currently offered in the vote, the league would not be extended, and the option to keep it as is is still there. -
-
I caught wind of the lineup submission rule being exploited somewhat, so I've rewritten it to include that it requires both AT and powersets of the ATs by request of the people who brought it up.
"Lineup Submissions: A representative from a team not participating in each match will take lineups from both teams facing eachother, and will post them in Arena Chat after both have been recieved. Lineup submissions must include all of the ATs playing in your lineup, as well as their individual powersets (Primary/Secondary)."
The change is in bold text. -
I don't know what your budget is but since I'm bored and the servers are down, I made a build for it. Keep in mind I don't have much experience playing or building colds.

I would would like to have a setup where all the teams got to play in the playoffs, but still put some kind of bearing on the regular season. The round robin thing sounds like it would work, but it would be partially dependent on other teams and what they want to do.
-
Also, part of the reason Stalkers are less effective in arena is because what they are used for is ASing on spikes, and since AS is not amazingly powerful anymore, you're better off just running blasters or doms instead most of the time in an 8v8 situation. You need 2-3 Stalkers in order to have any real effective Stalker based spike in most cases.
If AS was buffed that would help solve that problem some. -
-
What I'm asking wouldn't really take time out of anyone's day or anything, just send me a tell or an in-game e-mail before matches answering the questions. Would probably take 30 seconds.
-
Quote:I think you are exaggerating his point a little, Stalkers never had Sharks in Sirens until i21, and they did fine with AS and follow up attacks. I don't think it's outrageous to believe that they are more powerful in Sirens then RV or arena (Sharks), and I can understand why one might want them taken out. These days, Stalkers are far less effective than they've ever been at any point
in the past.
With iStuff, Stalkers are pretty much rep-bait in RV, or at best, a minimal factor
in battle outcome.
Nobody is ever in Bloody Bay, and rarely Warburg, so no factor there either...
Historically, they've been banned or limited on Arena League teams, so minimal
factor there either.
SC is pretty much the only zone where Stalkers can have an appreciable impact
and even there it has been reduced in recent times.
I'd be curious to see the Devs datamining on PvP kills, but I'd wager that Stalker
kills are WAY down from the early days.
So, basically, what you're essentially calling for is Stalkers to be removed from
the game, given that their effectiveness has continually de-volved pretty much
since PvP was rolled out.
Frankly, I'd prefer to see PvP as a whole removed from the game first.
Of course, a better answer would be for the Devs to actually understand PvP
and do it *right* to begin with, but I'm serously doubtful that will occur.

Even still, if something was done to tweak Stalkers, I would rather it be a small nerf to Stalker ranged attacks followed by a buff to AS to compensate, so that people HAVE to use AS again, but still have it be worthwhile. -
Quote:Fair enough, and I can see where the conclusion that maybe I meddle too much would come from, I will try to be more mindful of that.It is very evident that you care alot about this league. However, I see you too quickly jump to something. The point of the league creator imho is just to get the ground floor done. You seem to want to have your hand in every aspect of it and create more issues than are needed which is more like how Bud and Kat ran their leagues. Granted we eventually over threw them and got a pure captains vote but the league creator shouldnt be trying to think of things to change nonstop. The captains can call for a captain's meeting to propose changes. It is great that you care so much but it seems a bit too over zealous.
As for the vote:
Best of 3 or Best of 5
Keep points system that is in place or Move to elimantion system with 1v4 2v3
Keep points system that is in place or Move to Elimantions system with top seed picking opponent.
That would be the way I would phrase it. 3 separate votes of A or B. It would not be fair for us to vote with 3 choices due to split decisions, some might not care if its 1v4 2v3 or top seed pick opponent and just want it to be elimination and those that want it to remain points will be able to have their voices heard on each vote.
I can try and reword it, but one reason I wanted to just do more anonymous voting (e-mail/tells) was to minimize people being influenced by other people's votes. The way I worded it might be confusing, but I'm pretty sure I meant what you said, which was even if you disagree with the change to elimination, to vote on the other 2 options anyways in case it passes. -
Quote:I can see why Sharks would be a bigger deal in Sirens, as everything generally has lower HP, much lower resistance, and just lower survivability in general, especially taking things like Incarnates into consideration, as well as the fact that some people don't take phase or Hib at Siren's level.Sorry, no sale.
Not that I completely disagree, mind you. But, as others have noted, there
are a metric crapton of powers that are "unbalanced", and Sharks would be
one of them on the list.
As a stalker myself, there are two primary concerns I have.
AS - won't kill anybody by itself... I'm actually ok with that.
However, with nearly everyone being a SJ/SS bunny-hopping, super speeder,
AS is challenging to get off in the first place, given it's a melee power, long
activating, and interruptible with movement, all against a foe that can probably
see you at melee range to begin with....
It's hardly surprising that many stalkers simply don't get good enough to use AS
all that much to begin with in PvP.
But the second part, with Stalkers being melee based, is said Bunny Hopper is
gonna be long gone for the follow-up strike even if an AS is landed.
So, even with AS, a ranged follow-up is a key ingredient for a stalker to get a
kill at all against anyone other than a complete moron.
I'm not a fan at all of Sharks being the *only* tool a (bad) stalker uses, but a hard
hitting ranged power is important for a stalker given the current climate.
So, nope - /unsigned

PS> And yes, Ares - I *do* play in SC, pretty much exclusively, as you probably already know
That said, this would be pretty low on my priority list of fixes I would like to see done to PvP.
