Quote:An excellent suggestion[snip] Have more of the missions actually be in the same zone, except where it makes more sense to the storyline for it to be elsewhere
Quote:Badges. But while Veteran badges are account-wide for good reason, and some of the AE badges appear to be as well because....(.well, I'm not really sure about why) , why not make the Anniversary badges account-wide as well? The Anniversary badges really ought to be, IMO. Add to that any other badge that's based more on the player's actions than the character's actions. -
Quote:[gets on soap box]So Please make them more easier to find and hunt down on the Blue side
I'll make you a deal. I'll hunt your "hard-to-get" blue side Carnies for you if you hunt my red side...
200 Legacy Chain lieutenants
200 Banished Pantheon masks
100 Troll bosses
100 Outcast bosses
100 Rulaaru Overseer bosses
100 Skull bosses
100 Nemesis bosses
100 Warrior bosses
I'll take your "hard-to-get" blue side Carnies any day of the week.
I play both blue and red side, and I'm sorry... but I have no sympathy for blue side hunting badges when 99% of the time you have several neighborhoods of several zones to earn them.
The disparity between earning "hard-to-get" hunting badges on the red side vice blue is ridiculous
[puts away soap box] -
Excellent suggestions folks, and exactly what I was looking for. Thank you.

The Fabricator badge... still eludes me.
I have the portable workbench, and I've crafted IO's for every character in my SG.
I'm still short about 300 craftings, though.
Suggestions please -
We had an excellent turnout (about 16 players), and accumulated quite a few badges!
Thanks to everyone that participated -

Quote:Hello, and welcome back to our fantastic game!Hey everyone,
Im pretty new to the game, I trialed it a while back and enjoyed it, decided to actually get an account. Randomly picked infinity on villain side and havent ran across many players. Tend to solo but I also enjoy group play or I wouldnt be a mmo type of guy.
Thought I would introduce myself and ask a few questions.
1) Would it be considered to late to get started in CoH/V? I know its been around for a while but thought with new expansion coming out theres still time in its lifecycle.
2) Is Infinity a decent server for new players? Have yet to do any grouping and would like to at least experience some.
3) Anything any experienced players think it would be good to know? Currently a 16 Energy/Kinetics Corruptor if that helps.
Thanks for any input/information anyone has to share.
I'll answer your questions based upon my point of view...
1. With power customization available now, and Going Rogue on the horizen, now is a better time than ever to play.
2. Infinity is a great server for everyone, whether it's solo, team, badging, whatever. It's an East Coast server with a decent sized population.
3. A /kin Corr is usually a highly sought after team player. I recommend putting "energy/kin" in your search comments. You should have very little problem getting on a team that wayI also recommend the following tools to help you on your journey -
Mids' Hero Designer http://www.cohplanner.com/
Paragonwiki http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Main_Page
I'm available mostly red side @Thaumator if you ever need any ingame help. -
Quote:Exactly, hence my global advertisement of the event, and the team sign-up listsWell there are warnings that say people will attack you in the zones, so if you plan it out get some people who can pvp on your side to be attacking them. Viola.
Sure the heroes "could" attack us, but if we have enough people teamed-up and attacking pillboxes together... -
Quote:Sounds great! I placed both of your Brutes on the team list (should make the pillboxes easier). My wife would love to do this on her badger.
@Luna Eclypse
Ember Hart - Dark Melee/Fire Armor Brute
I'll be happy to lend a hand. I can play any of the following, based on team needs.
@Mathis
Soundwave Tsunami - Sonic/Sonic Corruptor
Thunderquake - Electric Melee/Stone Armor Brute
Octurian - Crab Spider
Digital Tangent - Robots/Traps Mastermind
See you there -
Quote:Very funnyFixed that for you.
P.S. Of course, I hear lots of the PvP'ers left.
P.P.S. I'm a badger.
And you're absolutely right, there is nothing we could do to stop them. However, I intend to wave the flag of truce in light of this being a badge event. I would, of course, reciprocate if they want to badge as well. -

Quote:Against you personally? Never. Against your so-called "delivery cat of reality"? Every... single... time. There's a difference between a role-play delivery of a line, and suggesting actual violence against another player. I'm pretty sure you have stepped over the Terms of Service for the forum with your post.
I would never dream of such a thing. I stand by my convictions, and certainly have no fear of your "little report button". The hypocrisy of your flamebaiting "intellectualism" is truly staggering. I've said all I intend to regarding this matter, and await the day this option is implemented. -
Quote:I'll see your "delivery cat of reality" and raise you my "baseball bat of reality".So, once again, being the delivery cat of reality, people demanding modifications to the name system, such as the ones I see being promoted by Thaumator and Unsub. Well, that's THE MINORITY.
CRACK!!!
There, that's better [rinses off cat blood].
Unsub and I may be the currenty "minority" in this thread (although you are also forgetting the original poster), but the fact is (yes I know how you love "FACTS") this thread is NOT an accurate representation of the player base as a whole.
I suggest the company send a poll to each game subscriber via e-mail regarding this subject.
Oh and for the record, if you're really that concerned about your name, I recommend the company issue "The Original" as an optional title to each of your characters. That way, you can be known as "The Original [insert Japanese-kitten-misspelled-hyphen-whatever here]."
If you're implying that anyone who supports this idea is uneducated, I suggest you reread your sentence again. Epic... fail. -
Quote:[sigh] Apparently in order for you to understand, I'll need to reply using your "blowhard mode" (ie write several paragraphs in order to voice an opinion). It's a shame, because I really do have better things to do (like play the game). Here goes...I really doubt that the majority of people desperately want names to be non-unique just so they can be less creative and make a bunch of duplicates of boring names. I really doubt that the majority of people are so unhappy with the name selection that they'd put up with a clumsy, more complicated, and less visually attractive system in exchange for the ability to be lazy with names.
I really doubt the majority of people desperately want to use a dictionary, thesaurus, and foreign language translator when they create a new character. I really doubt that the majority of people are so happy with the name selection that they'd put up with a clumsy hyphen, period, intentional misspelling, foreign language usage, and less visually attractive system in exchange for the ability to have a good name.
You see, my experience is based upon talking to people both in game and in real life about this. I never assume, as you have, that the majority of our gaming community regularly posts on these forums (or reads them, for that matter). To assume that, as you have, would be very self-centered and bold... don't you agree? (you don't have to answer that, it's rhetorical).
[whew] That was exhausting. Back to my game. "Blowhard mode" off. -
You're not in the minority. I look forward to the day this is finally implemented.
-
Quote:Well said. I've only been playing for 4 years, but I hate to think how hard it is for new players today to find a good name. It was hard enough trying to find a name when CoV launched (when blue side had 2 years to take up the names on the servers). Yes I said it. Some of you might not like it, but that doesn't make it any less true. Which brings me to -4) The reason why unique names cause problems is that it advantages long-term players because they've had the most chances to obtain them. It disadvantages new players.
Quote:5) It is unfair to expect a new player on the first day of their trial to have an English dictionary, a thesaurus, several English / other language dictionaries, a working knowledge of both real and CoH/V history and extensive patience to play the word game that is finding a new available character name. -
Earning them from playing your badge-collecting character, just like every other badge?
But seriously, I understand the idea behind it. I really do. Hell, I even think it's kind of neat! But quite frankly, the amount of time spent NOT playing your badge-collecting character (22 day job badges x 21 days each = 462 days) is excessive.
I motion for a 10 day maximum. That's still 220 days of not playing to get 22 badges -
Totally the wrong way to think about it. This is the "Badges and Gladiators forum". To NOT play your main character for over a year in order to get these badges is a ridiculous idea in the first place.
-
Agreed.
NOT playing my main for over a year (462 days) just to get the Day Job badges seems counterintuitive to having a main that's trying to get badges
7 days each... max. That's still almost half a year of NOT playing your badge collector just to get... badges. -
Quote:Well said!I don't give one-tenth of one crap about people gaming In-Game eBay
Quote:but if heroes, villains, and those in between are going to be encouraged to team up a lot more, being able to drop candy onto people from the other side of the fence in the heat of battle is going to become that much more important.
I'm hopeful for more mixed teaming options -
