Quote:This really made him more interesting in the comics. They could have blatantly ripped off Superman and end it there, but the dehumanization and arrogance added to the character. Problem was that the comic never lasted too long to actually show development of his personality and his in-game personality is just a Superman ripoff.Without referencing the comic, Statesman is just a static quest giver that stands in IP, and a damsel in distress in one case.
Well, he also is the "blood, guts and swords, RARR!" big cheese in Cimerora, and joins you for one battle where he can promptly get his azz handed to him by Romans in loincloths and sandals.
In other words, he's very blah. I actually hadn't seen "current time" Statesman until I was a year into the game and did my first STF.
In the comic book, he's a self-righteous, arrogant jerk. Being a godling, he plays by the different rules than everyone else, yet he demands that everyone conforms to his vision. He may not be an obvious tyrant like Recluse, but he is just as domineering towards his fellow metahumans.
True, he IS our Superman, but unlike Superman, he isn't grounded in being "a farmboy from Kansas". He was a mercenary in his former life, and upon gaining the power of Zeus, he embraced demi-godhood with great zest.
Statesman the character lacks both humanity AND humility, and that makes him a very off-putting chap. -
I'm good cause I hit the 60 month mark back in June.

Pics or it didn't happen.
Also, inb4 photoshopped episode 3 pics. -
How many games/movies/music/books have t-shirts that say "coming soon"? I think they just need to release t-shirts with different hero and villain groups' logo, or dare I say, custom t-shirts that resemble our own heroes and villains logos and chest pieces.
-
I think what they should do is just release a bulleted list of the big features and start to go in depth of each feature the closer it get's to release. Like how they do (did) it for issues and how most expansion packs do it.

How about more robotic stuff? All the robot faces (both of them) look evil. How about a neutral robot face? Also, torn options for existing costume pieces, like battle-damaged armor and shredded tights.

To be fair, I thought the title was a cry for help.

Quote:It also allows me to play a criminal who destroys children's books and throw cats up trees. So why can't I farm and "break the rules"?This is a game that allows you to play an urban vigilante who takes unilateral, violent action to thwart those whom you believe to be "doing wrong".
And people are somehow shocked or offended that a player of this game will take it upon himself to thwart other players whom he believes to be doing wrong? Really? Damn, where's the eyeroll emote when I need it?
You go, Prof. Live the dream!
I have 2 other observations about AE farms I'm going to make now, because apparently the obvious is hard to see from some perspectives:
1) The irony of players in an MMORPG complaining about people devoting all their time to a VR simulation while ignoring the possibilities of the greater world around them is so thick that it can't be cut with a knife. You need a chainsaw.
2) The only PvP with consequence in CoH is the minigame of getting other people's arcs banned. You want PvP? That's PvP, baby. -
I used to try trials and come back to this game feeling it was better. Now it just seems that my interest in MMOs are waning. I hope GR will fix that.

I doubt Rogue will be out this year.

Quote:Well, that's normal. The AE though, made a way to exploit something that isn't technically broken.I feel like I'm walking a minefield, but here goes my two cents:
If I find something genuinely broken that allows for an exploit, I'll report it as a bug. (Example: in Terra Volta, there used to be large packs of mobs that would not retaliate if you attacked them).
If I find someone repeatedly using harsh swearing in public channels, I'll report 'em.
If I find someone in an obvious homage character, I'll pm them that they may want to reconsider, as it is likely their character will be modified by the devs, but I do not report it.
Right/wrong, that's what I do, anyway. -
Quote:Do you use criminal-element analogies in all aspects of life or just online?
IRL, Would someone that reported something broken- a downed power line- be an informant? What if he reported someone cut it?
Should he just wait around until the person whose job it is to maintain power detects it, tracks it down, and repairs it? Could you possibly get better service if you made that person's job any easier.
People that are *knowingly* creating farms are doing enough harm that the devs are wasting resources tracking them down. They've asked for our help and even provided the tools IN the UI to make the help as painless as possible. The better they get ahold of this, the less time & energy they waste policing it and the more they can trust us to safely handle in future iterations.
So, people, report away.Quote:Ah, such refreshing posts.
What you see as "a rat" I see as a good community member doing his part to bring possible community issues to the attention of the people that have the authority and responsibility to make the final decision. This isn't an adversarial system of "us (players)" vs "them (devs)" like prisoners vs inmates or children vs the grown-ups... both images that your wording of "snitch" and "rat" evoke. I like to think most of us are above that.
Most of us, at least.
This is just a bit of community empowerment. It's a little bit community organization, a little bit "neighborhood watch" and maybe a little bit of "adopt a highway" helping pick up the trash.
Of course, if you feel more like "the trash" than the community, you're entitled to those feelings. -

The West Side Story casting had an amazing turnout.
