When CoH and CoV was released, the endgame was added later, sure. But when GR comes out, we aren't leveling to 40 while we wait. Most people have 50s already, so unless that first incarnate level will take months to achieve, then there is a difference.

I stopped after witnessing the Jailbait thread. Stay classy, Paragon Unleashed!

My guess is that incarnate levels will be separate from security/threat levels.

Quote:I doubt it will be unlocked for everyone on that server. It would make the content a one-time ordeal. He didn't specify where the zone events would be, of course; just that it would be "how you participate in the end-game system" or words to that effect. However, since the new zone events, like all of this Incarnate stuff, require Going Rogue, it seems likely to me that it'll take place in Going Rogue-exclusive zones, which I suppose would be the four Praetorian zones.
At this point, I'm imagining something like a combination of the "public quests" and mega-raids that (I'm told) exist in other MMO's. I can speak only for myself, but I'd much rather see that than something like a super-ITF, just because I like zone events.
However, and it's a very big "however," I question whether this is really a good way to gate rewards that everyone is certain to want. As it is, the smaller servers often have trouble mustering even a single full team to deal with such zone events as Rikti and zombie invasions, not to mention banner events. I hope the devs are observing populations and zone events on the smaller servers as well as Virtue and Freedom and realize that after the first couple of weeks of Going Rogue, the other servers are unlikely to be able to gather sufficient numbers to do this kind of open-world content.
Maybe the offhand reference to "for your alts" is meant to remedy this. For instance, Incarnate level 1, whatever it is, might be something unlocked for your level 50's account-wide once a single character has done it. I suppose the theory here is that if you want it, you can do the content on Virtue, then get the benefits everywhere.
We'll see! -
But remember, CoV (the cause of the spike) had more exposure and drew in more people. GR doesn't and is much cheaper, meaning that a smaller spike is more likely to occur.

Shouldn't Kinetic Melee have an inherent power that makes your attacks stronger the more you are hit?

Quote:I think he meant the costume packs as the 6 expansions. Also, issue 6 was when CoV was launched, so they could have wanted to have side switching with the release of another faction to switch to.I believe that that quote was a mistake by the journalist reporting what was said as, on the website where the blog (or whatever it is called) was appearing there was an introduction saying that City was 6 years old and had had 6 free expansions and was soon to be getting a seventh. This makes me believe that it was originally going to launch with 16 but, due to an earlier error or a misconception it was reported incorrectly.

So, we buy GR, then we have to wait months for the content to be actually available in the game?
-
I think the lack of a major license is another thing. People who go see Batman or Spider-Man want to either play as them, play with them, or at least play in the same setting as them.

Devs have said before that things can't be implemented because of the engine limitations. One that comes to mind is fighting the scale of Rulararu.

Quote:I guess I should kiss your *** a bit, Troy. You did right a more classic view on Statesman and you introduced the greatest hero ever (Breakneck).I can't speak to any of this except the comics. Actually, MY take on Statesman WOULD be kind of a cross between a Cary Bates Superman and a Kurt Busiek Capt. America. I'm not an "edgy" kind of writer in general. With my issues of the comic, I was doing the second arc, after Mark Waid's initial run. Mark wrote a version of Statesman (as well as some of the other characters) that was darker than the way I saw the character, but I don't like just jerking characters around, continuity-wise, so I started my arc with States being a little more high-strung (though definitely not a creep), and by the end of it I had him much closer to where I wanted him, ostensibly with a bit of character development to explain the difference. Hopefully it worked for the readers. Anyway, that was my mindset with it.

Quote:I'm not talking about the idea you have in mind, but the one that was suggested.*I* don't think of it as more powerful as much as different. I don't think you can at an AT to the game that's much stronger at this point with just calling that AT the "I WIN" class.
So, I'd hope for more differences in game play. Speculation and all that. And yes it would still have similaries to the original, because i'd not expect them to work on a whole new game engine or mechanic into a 6 year old game. Save that for CoH 2.
-
Quote:But the origin suggestion is that it will be more powerful and use different enhancements, so you'll be playing a more powerful tanker with "aegis of zeus" +defense enhancement instead of "dragon scale training".If i understood the suggestion right, the Orign alters aspects of the AT, and require special enhancments. That's farily different then adding a new AT that utlizes all the preexsiting enhancemts. You'd have one orgian that transforms the game play of 5 or 6 different AT's. It's also prolly ALOT of work. Making it unlikely, but i still kind of like the idea.

They can just change what an Incarnate is to fit in an Epic AT format. Requiem used to have fire based powers before warshades and peacebringers were introduced.
-
Hows that a different change of pace? Your still playing the same AT, but you can't use IOs. That's more of the same pace then a new Epic AT altogether.
-
I haven't heard of any new Epic AT since the "spy" one hinted at in the player survey. I wonder if that is going to be in, a praetorian guard and resistance fighter, or just nothing.

lol, people finding christina hendricks unattractive, but go bat-**** over pixels.
-
If it will, you'll have to wait for 4 years.

I thought it is called Dark Mirror because of the new reflective surfaces and shadows from UM.

"And more" is usually reserved for minor changes to the game itself. Most issues have it during the initial preview.

Seeing as we know nothing and taking into account the "end game" they've added in the past, I am just uninterested and apathetic.
