  1. Is it enabled on the computer? I think it puts an icon in the System Tray. Right-click it and make sure it is set to Enabled.

If it isn't enabled on the computer, the game won't see it and will show the N/A.

Contacting them using the in-game tools (Menu > Support, /petition, etc.) is VIP only.

Contacting them using out-of-game tools (emailing support@coh.com, https://support.cityofheroes.com etc) is available to all players.

I don't trust them either, but it seems to have accomplished it's intended purpose.

I never touched the settings that would change the color of my forum handle, but it's been goldenrod since one of their updates.

Oddly enough, I don't think the first attempt (possibly two) actually changed the color, I think it was a later attempt that set it.

    Well said.

TJ is on a SO/HO build still. The build was finished before IO's were introduced. I could do basically any content that I wanted with him and be as survivable (sometimes more survivable) than IO'd out builds simply because I knew how to play him.

I've finally started outfitting him with more than just the Tier 1 Alpha since they've added DA, but it's still with the same SO/HO build. I've gotten all 5 slots unlocked and at least Tier 2 slotted in them as well as getting Tier 3 in the ones that give a level shift. Ho hum. He still plays basically the same as he did before except that I can raise the difficulty slider more if I want. Of course, the level shifts do nothing outside of DA for TJ, so it's basically a wash.

I'm thinking about starting a second build on him with IO's, but I'm not really sure I want to do the work that would be needed for me to research the IO's and Sets I'd need for the build.

If I want to do work, I go to work. When I'm playing CoH I don't want it to be work.

    Fairer?

So one model (female) getting ALL of the pieces in a new set that the other two models (male and huge) get PLUS additional pieces that the other two models don't get is your idea of fair?

Well, I guess I can go by the definition of fair that I give the kids here at school.

Fair comes once a year. It's in October. It's usually raining and/or cold.

I do understand, and apologize that we may be disturbing your game play for a short period of time, however the admin channel is what we use to be certain that everyone knows the event is happening for the duration of the event. Because these events are relatively spontaneous this year (I can't allocate 4-6 hours a day for the entire team for a month solid to schedule the events out) it's very important that everyone know a live event is happening.

Take solace in the fact that we are usually only present for 30-45 minutes. Also, keep in mind that some of the "admin chat" is actually done in the "zone admin" channel which only hits the map it's on.

  8. Yeah, there are a few settings there that should definitely be lowered. The screen resolution should be fine. I run a bit higher than that on a HD 4650 under Windows 7 64-bit. But I've also got over twice the RAM that you have.

I wouldn't worry about je-saist's info about the minimum being a 4770. I was told by a programmer that they were running on 4650's with almost everything cranked up when they gave us the details of Going Rogue at the second HeroCon. The only thing I drop the settings on are the ones I'll recommend below. Granted, I have more memory and a newer OS, but you should be OK.

I'd recommend dropping World Detail to High. Really, you don't need it at Very High. And some zones will cause more issues than others. For example, see ScottyB's notation about the revamped Atlas Park killing his framerate.

I have one recommendation for Ambient Occlusion. Turn Ambient Occlusion OFF. Completely OFF. No Advanced Occlusion settings enabled at all. That one is a big frame-rate killer.

You'll have problems with AO using the 4600 Series card. Especially with XP. I have the 4650 running under Windows 7 with more than twice the RAM you have and still need to leave AO off.

Water shouldn't be a problem at Ultra Setting. Shadows and reflections can be iffy at times so I've been running them at just High. I turn Reflections up to Ultra if I want to show off the reflective windows in buildings to someone by hovering in front of the windows of the AE buildings. I leave Bloom OFF because I just don't like it.
  9. L4D2 uses DirectX on Windows computers. CoH is using OpenGL.

Unless you are running on Linux or Mac (which would be useful information to include in the OP), the comparisons are pretty much like the following:

    Apples. Oranges.
  10. Disable nTune.

There have been several of the "tuner" programs for overclocking or adjusting fan speeds that have caused issues with the game.

This may be one of those that isn't playing nicely.

Not only is there no need to start a new thread each month, it's actually against the forum rules.

But the OP doesn't care about that.

And Kitsune, I think you missed a few of the OP's threads on the same subject.

Ah. Thanks, I guess I did misunderstand.

Although, I've never been told I needed to buy a subscription when I've downloaded from filefactory, only that I could get faster speeds if I subscribed.

The ability to Create an SG and the ability to pay rent are both still locked behind VIP access.

They haven't given any indications that they are looking at changing either of those.

  16. It's not so much subscribing as a simple registration. I've never gotten any emails or solicitations from the Titan Network except the registration verification email and emails associated with trying to reset my password.

Use a dummy account if you must. They are simple to create on Hotmail, Yahoo or GMail.

Nowadays it's zerg 100% of the time. Push butan until all dead.

    Sad.
AOE's and pets will be able to hit the spawns before you can fire a single target attack at them. I regularly see "Invalid Target" when using my ST attacks but I see floating damage numbers from either my pets attacks or my AOE's that happened to hit them.

This is one of the reasons so many spam AOE's. If they'd fix that mechanic people wouldn't have to spam AOE's so much.
  19. A few things.

Buttons wear out. Actually, the little sensors that fire when the buttons are pressed. Also, they sometimes get a bit out of alignment.

As Aggelakis mentioned batteries could also be a problem, especially since it is a wireless mouse.

I see that you have some type of Wacom tablet installed. We've had instances in the past where the Wacom tablet drivers caused problems with the game. If you replace the batteries or the mouse and it still has problems you may want to uninstall the Wacom drivers and tablet to see if that is part of the problem.

I would also recommend turning off Ambient Occlusion completely. It's hardware intensive enough on a desktop graphics card but it's even worse on a laptop's mobility graphics chipset.

Finally, your video driver appears to have a corrupt installation (the funky date shown on the video driver while the sound card date appears normal). My recommendation would be to download but don't install the current video drivers for your laptop, download and install Driver Sweeper but don't run it yet. Uninstall the video card drivers, Catalyst Control Center and any other software for the video card then reboot the computer into Safe Mode. Run Driver Sweeper in Safe Mode to remove the leftover files and registry entries that the uninstaller didn't get rid of. Reboot into normal Windows mode and install the drivers you downloaded earlier.

At that point you can run CoH Helper again, paste it into Notepad and check the video card driver date. They should show in the normal date format then.

The Snipping Tool is fine, but Print Screen does work in Full Screen.

Actually, it does work. I'm not sure what "normal circumstances" are to you, but it works every time I use it.

I take plenty of screenshots using the Print Screen key and pasting it into either Paint or GIMP. It doesn't matter if it's regular ingame shots, in the costume editor or in the character selection screen. All of them work fine for me. The only problems I have at times are that I get things from the buffer instead of the current screen. That's a simple fix though, I just do File > New, don't Save, and then Print Screen and Paste again to get the right shot.

All of this is Full Screen, not in Windowed mode.

Apparently you don't even need to defeat him to get this badge. I'd seen a report by Hopeling that he didn't even see Nemesis and got the badge then something odd happened last night.

I was logging in all of my Justice characters to get the Rhapsodic badge. Eyes of Texas had been logged off in the Talos Hospital lobby to work on the Day Badges. I opened the Most Recent tab to make sure that she got Rhapsodic and suddenly saw A Nemesis Plot pop into the tab above it.

No Nemesis troops in the lobby, no Nemesis GM in the lobby, solo, no combat at all by the character - just getting ready to log off and BOOM .... badge.

EDIT: Reading fail on my part. In my enthusiasm to report last night's actions I failed to read the rest of the thread where this has already been reported.

So I feel pretty confident in saying this badge doesn't have the 10% damage requirement.
That lines up closely with reported experience by someone in a channel I frequent. He reported only beating on a few minion/LT type invaders, not on a team or league, and getting the badge.

Maybe you just need to be in the general vicinity when he goes down? That would be pretty different from other similar critter rewards.
A funny thing happened last night.

I was logging all of my characters in to get the anniversary badges on them when I saw an extra badge suddenly appear in the Most Recent list on one character. I got the Nemesis Plot badge (or whatever it's called) just by logging in that character. Eyes of Texas was in the lobby of the Hospital for Day Badge credit and got the badge just standing there, solo, not in sight of Nemesis or any troops.

I tried to recreate it on my other characters as I was doing the login/logout to character selection/login dance on my Justice characters but didn't get lucky on any of the others.

Then open the Clipper Tool and you can draw a box around the CoH screen without getting the grey screen. It's a weird workaround but it works
Are you referring to the Snipping Tool that can be found on the Accessories menu?

I've not seen a Windows Clipper Tool on any computer I've been on whether it was Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 or anything older than XP.

If you are referring to something else, Google can't seem to find it.

I've never had to open anything else when using the Snipping Tool built into Vista and 7.
