You don't need to know anybody or have any special networking (I'm pretty much a loner in CoH, never really joining supergroups and soforth), just head to your server's meeting place (Pocket D on Freedom) and send a tell to whoever is recruiting. I've managed to fully incarnate 3 toons that way, with multiple T4's on each, and it's been outrageously easy. Granted, I've been playing MMOs for over a decade and trials in CoH are a cakewalk compared to raiding in games like Everquest, but I really think you're making things far too hard on yourself by avoiding the trials. Even if you hate them, they're so short and so much faster that it's probably worth the effort.
Because some of us do not team. At all.

You do need to "buy" items on Test and Beta, but you don't have unlimited Paragon Points.

Those items just cost 0 PP on Beta and Test.

Remember, Beta and Test are two different installs.

If you are wanting to test the new powersets and other items I'd recommend using the Beta server instead. Items often don't go on the Test server until right before they are released to Live or even after they are released to Live.

To create a Beta server install, follow the instructions given above for the Test install but instead of /LaunchGame=CoHTest you would need to put /LaunchGame-CoHBeta instead. Again, have it install to a different directory than the Live game.
  3. You may have a corrupted playerslot.txt file if you have the Remember Username box checked.

Inside the game directory is a directory named the same as your login username (yes, case matters here as PlayerName is not the same as playername when it is something to do with this folder). Inside that folder is a file called playerslot.txt

Rename the file to something like oldplayerslot.txt

Try to log in to Virtue and see if that resolves the issue. The characters will be in the order they were created, so if you had moved them around to a different order you would need to do so again so that the playerslot.txt file will be recreated with the right character order.

    It's a shame you'd do that.

Since the hats Zwilikemyhats wears are not berets.

They are known as Ivy Caps or Newsboy Hats.

Berets are completely different in looks.

Should they be more prevalent? Yeah. Don't know why Pocket D can't have one along with an AH dealer present there.

But the Devs have a long history of providing inconsistent access to amenities. I tried to get them to make the TUNNEL system a hub... but they got placed wherever the darts landed instead.
I prefer Ouroboros > FF > RWZ since the zoning point from Ouroboros in FF is right across from the Vanguard Building (as well as the Tram). Using the Ouroboros > AP route requires more travel time in the zone.
  6. That one I can remember.

And I have no need for that link anyway.

This might explain your repeated claims that there are no such things as Rangle Plots™.

It's simply that you forget about your plotting.

It's such a shame to see the memory go so quickly.

They say that memory is one of the first two things to go when you get older.

The second one is ... well, I forgot what it is, but it's probably something I don't need anyway.

There is a purchase in the market for EACH of the EAT and VEAT types for 1000 PP each.

Separate unlock purchases for Peacebringers, Warshades, Soldier of Arachnos and Arachnos Widow. So, if you want all 4 it would be 4000 PP.

But as I said earlier and Aggelakis and Thunder Knight confirmed they seem to be unlocked for Premiums that unlocked them prior to Freedom's launch.

Those look like they are set to not respond to ICMP requests, which is a fairly normal setting, especially on a router you don't want people getting remote access to.

You'll also lose in-game support, although you can still get support through the support website https://support.cityofheroes.com

You'll also lose access to First Ward missions and the SSA's unless you purchase them. I'm not sure if you lose access to the Night Ward contacts, I know some are available to all.

Since you purchased Going Rogue you'll keep access to the Alignment system and the ability to create Praetorians.

You'll lose posting access to several sections of the forums and lose all access to the Test and Beta servers and Beta forums.

You'll lose access to PM's on the forums, your avatar and signature.

You'll lose access to the Justice Server forums and will not be able to comment there on any Rangle Plots™.

Probably a combination of purchasing and free slots from annual rewards (you got a free server slot each year of paid time as a reward, you likely applied them on Justice and rightly so).

That number sounds right, but you will need to use an unlock on them.

I've heard reports that people were able to keep access to their EAT's and VEAT's without purchasing them from the Paragon Market, but it was stated to likely be a bug so you may or may not have access to those.

As for the bases, you'll still be able to access them and use anything in them, but you will need to get a VIP to join (even if only temporarily when rent is due) to pay rent. You have enough friends on Justice I'm sure one of them won't mind joining temporarily to pay rent for you.

Other Praetorian contacts? I know that Primal contacts allow you to finish against grey mobs, but I've not had that in Praetoria.

As I said earlier, I've had Praetorian contacts stop giving missions if I out-leveled them and that the method used by several people was to turn off XP gain so as not to out-level them.

I was told it was by design during a conversation during GR Beta.

EDIT: It also is noted in the Guide to Issue 18 & Going Rogue Beta thread.

I don't see any further notes that this changed.
  15. I'd never had a Praetorian contact continue their arc if I out-leveled them.

The standard solution most used was to turn off XP gain to not out-level them.

The book icon doesn't go away if you outlevel a contact before finishing their arc.

    Screen Position: 0, 0

The above is what jumps out at me as the possible cause of the problems. The game resolution is set to 1197 x 694 and the 3D Resolution is set for 1045 x 606 as well as not being Maximized. The differences in the resolutions is the most probably cause in my view.

I don't know if running the Taskbar on the right side of the screen has any effect on it since I've never run mine there, but it's "possible" that it could cause an issue when not running Full Screen. It's possible that the coding for the game wasn't done to take into account that someone may do that, but I haven't tested it to find out if it changes things.

The first thing I'd recommend would be to slide the 3D Resolution slider to match the Screen/UI Resolution settings and see if that resolves the problems. You may even want to Maximize the window as well to see if that resolves it, although it shouldn't be a problem.

If not, you might want to try moving the Taskbar back to the bottom of the screen to see if it has any effect. I doubt it will, but there are plenty of things that have been coded ... "oddly" ... and if it doesn't resolve the problems it isn't something that would be difficult to put back how it was previously.
  17. Also, when it's a secondary site like MMORPG.com doing the giveaway, I believe they are the ones that set the rules for the contests if I remember the explanation we were given for a previous contest on an outside site.

Yes, it's for a giveaway of content in this game, but the other site is the one actually holding the contest, not CoH.

You might have better luck asking MMORPG.com why they have this restriction on their contest.
  18. This is normal behavior for Praetorian Contacts and Missions.

    Pretty much this.

I'll be playing my 4 blasters that I've always played and will be glad I'll be able to hit my ST T3's from a longer range and have my snipes usable during combat.

  20. Contact your ISP and explain that the proxy is causing a problem with logging in to this site since it uses a secure login.

They should be able to give you instructions on how to set an override for the forums on your computer(s) so that it bypasses the proxy.
  21. I'll leave the Steam discussion to you folks that use it.

Since the CoH Helper is still showing all of the Unknown entries it means something on the computer is blocking CoH Helper from accessing all of the registry settings. My suspicion would be that one of the AVG components is doing it. One way to test it would be to temporarily disable AVG completely, run CoH Helper again and paste the results into Notepad. Look at it and see if the Unknown entries are still there. If they are still there, it is something else blocking it. If they are gone, it means it was being blocked by AVG and you'd be able to post the full CoH Helper output before turning AVG back on.

Also, if there are things showing in the HJT log that you got rid of or explicitly told it not to install (like the toolbars) my recommendation would be to double-check the Programs and Features in Control Panel and uninstall any of them you find there. After a reboot, fire up HJT again and this time if you see any remnants of those programs in the HJT log put a checkmark in the box beside it, go through the whole log that way looking for remnants, and then click the Fix Checked button. It should remove those entries. Just make sure of what you are removing to be sure it isn't a needed component of another program.

If you are able to get back into the game, I'd still recommend disabling Ambient Occlusion completely. It's more load on the system than what it is worth in my view. Several have reported it having negative impacts on frame rates.
  22. The game has had problems in the past with the Wacom tablet drivers and I think it was stopping at either the logon screen or just before that screen loaded.

Unplug the tablet, uninstall the Wacom Tablet drivers and software, run HiJackThis again and look at the output to make sure the Tablet Service and software aren't loaded or running at all then try the game again.

Also, you have a huge amount of unnecessary programs running at Startup (the O4 entries in HJT). I'd recommend shutting the majority of them off to free up some of your memory. Most of them don't really need to be running at Startup anyway but should start that task if you launch the program they belong to.
  23. I should have added this quote as well but didn't since it needed a multi-quote to do it right.
