  1. After deleting the .critter files, go into the files for the group it was a member of and deleted the section dealing with that critter. It may be easier to just delete the group file and then recreate the group with the MA tools.

Then go into the Missions folder and delete all of the sections that deal with that critter and possibly the group, then use the MA editing tools to re-build the group and re-edit the mission.

These files will open in Notepad or likely any text editor. I prefer Notepad since I know it isn't going to be saving any extra text or parsing anything into HTML that might invalidate the file.

    Please.
  4. TJ likes the new GM column, so would like to extend a warm welcome to GM Lloyd.

TJ likes the comic as well.

Oh, and TJ really likes that Nivienne is now showing up in the Community Digest. Congrats Niv.

BTW, what the heck is a Community Specialist? TJ likes the sound of it, but ????

    Sunstorm

    [ QUOTE ]
Oh, yellow and red can go fine together, Iron Man looks AWESOME... but the in-game colors Sunstorm wears are straight-out-of-the-tube*, which I rarely like using. This piece was a bit of a stretch from my comfort zone, but I think I like the result.

*For example: One of the things I HATE about Smallville (aside from the anemic plot lines and overproduced characters) is that Clark is ALWAYS wearing the SAME primary color shirt and jacket. We get it already, he's Superman... tone it down some!

    [/ QUOTE ]

TJ hates to quibble here, but this is the way Clark Kent has been depicted for years, not just on Smallville.

In the various Superman series, Clark wore a blue suit, white shirt, and red tie for years. TJ can't recall when it was, probably when he returned after the Death of Superman run, but TJ was shocked to see him in something other than that same old outfit.

During the various Superboy series over the years, Clark was generally depicted with blue pants, a white shirt, and often a red sweater or sweater vest with yellow piping.

Having Clark wear the same primary color scheme on Smallville is just carrying on that tradition. It's actually rather nice to see them keeping "something" traditional since they are changing so much of the mythos.

And where is this "New User" you speak of?

Top of the page, above the PERC logo. To the right of the Login button is a link in red text that says .... New User
  7. Best of luck Lighthouse. We didn't always see eye to eye on things, but that is often the way with divergent personalities.

Thank you for all the hard work you did in and for the Community.

    Busted link Castle!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Why blame Castle for the busted link?

He didn't post it. Lighthouse did.

    Lighthouse got it from Jester.

    Jester blames a bad timestamp.

    I smell a Nemesis plot.
  10. You are correct. Ross is the Marketing guy that will be making sure the rest of the team doesn't say anything Marketing isn't ready to put public yet.

I recall Castle getting the glare of DOOOOOOOOM from Ross at last years Bay Area MnG and quickly trying to change course on what he was saying.

Ross is Marketing. Marketing is Evil. Everyone repeat that with me.

Just kidding ya a little there. Ross was really cool to talk to, although he will likely be keeping an ear on what information is being given out by the rest of the team.

Ross, if you read this, feel free to beat me about the head with a nerf bat at this years Bay Area event. Or buy me a shot of Jager. Your choice.

Many have narrowed their reading areas and only follow their server forums, Community Digest, and Dev Digest.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Then many need to add Anouncements to that - there's pretty important stuff in there. Plus, it's rarely used so it's not like it takes long. The digests are... iffy sometimes.

    [/ QUOTE ]

When I'm logged in to the forums, I only see 3 Forums. Announcements, Developers Corner, and Justice server. The only two places I generally look in DC are the Dev Digest and Community Digest. I've tried to stop reading anything except the red name posts in the threads those link to, in order to keep myself from getting banned for commenting in those threads about what I think of the intellectual capability of some of the posters or their motivations for making their posts.

I have Announcements on my Favorite Forums listing, but didn't see this since it is buried beneath so many stickied threads. Even after the stickied threads, there are threads above this one about Forum Maintenance on May 29th, a Free Respec on Dec. 12th, and an Off Topic Posts about Armistice Day/Veterans Day thread. Easily overlooked by many.

I do want to thank Castle for posting, and Koschej (it's finally getting easier to spell it right the first time) presumably for asking him to post, so that this will at least get into the Dev Digest. I just want it to be easily seen by as many forum readers as possible to squash rumors and other misinformation resulting from the articles.
  12. Maybe as a temporary solution ask one of the following, politely of course, to please comment in the thread to get it into the Dev Digest so it can be seen.

    Castle
    BaB
    pohsyb
    Jay
    WW
    Ghost Falcon
    Hero 1
    Positron
Manticore (assuming his account is still active and flagged for the Dev Digest)
any other Dev I've missed that would show up in the Dev Digest

Not the best solution, but one that would bring this thread to the attention of the majority of the forum readers.

Many have narrowed their reading areas and only follow their server forums, Community Digest, and Dev Digest. Some have expanded it a bit more than that, but I've spoken to several that only read these 3 areas regularly.
  13. I almost missed this since Koschej's posts don't show up in the Community Digest. Luckily, while reading another thread linked to from said Digest, I accidentally hit the Index link instead of the back button.

You and Niv really need to show up in some type of Digest, especially when you will be posting official news or information like this.

Might I suggest creating 2 more accounts for the two of you, such as ModeratorKoschej and ModeratorNivienne to do the mod work from so that it doesn't show in the Digest. Or just use SuperModerator or CoHModerator for the moderation duties and let these normal accounts be included in a Digest. It would make it much easier to find posts such as these, and your answers to questions in other official or unofficial threads on the forums.

Comic Relief:This issue is a couple days early (usually comes out on SUndays, right?), maybe they had a new deadline and couldn't make it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Nope, generally comes out on Thursday or Friday. I think Friday is the normal day now.

Why would Ex want to have to interrupt one of her few days off just to post the Scoop? That time would be better spent in nailing down details for our upcoming M&G or whatever we are going to call it now.

  16. Seems the Scoop falls prey to the same needs as the Forum software: A good spellchecker.

    Congradulatios to FlyByKnight!

Yeah, I nitpick. Deal with it.

  17. [ QUOTE ]
Anyone know if the team buff icon bug has been fixed? My main /FF Mastermind has been pretty much unplayable since I12.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm not certain, but I suspect this has been a difficult bug to track down. Trying to go through all of the code and making minor changes then testing it, going through more code, making minor changes, testing it, ad infinitum is very tedius and time consuming, and often frustrating when you can't seem to locate what is causing the problem. Then you start looking at combinations of changes to the code, changing A and B, testing it, finding out it still doesn't fix the problem, and so on. That can be mind-numbingly frustrating. Especially when you run into the "alright, I fixed the buff icons .... oh crap, I broke X, Y and Z when I did that" situations.

I'm sure the Devs are as frustrated by some of these bugs as many players are, and would like a speedier resolution. I'm also fairly certain, based on recent experience, that they have this as a fairly high priority.

Having a High Priority on something doesn't mean it's something they can easily find the cause or solution.

My grandfather always used to tell me "Patience is a Virtue." Unfortunately, I've never been very virtuous.

  18. Once again, you've outdone yourself Chase. You and Cinder did an excellent job of covering the majority of the new stuff in I12 without giving away any real spoilers.

Character slots in the character selection screen can now be reorganized by dragging and dropping. The sort order is stored in a file on the client, but only if "Remember Account Name” is checked on the Log-in Screen

    [/ QUOTE ]
The information is NOT stored on the client. It is stored on your local hard drive, as a file named playerslot.txt. While it remembers the character order, it STILL ignores the first character on your list, and automatically selects the character that was ORIGINALLY at the top of the list, pre-I12.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Just for clarification, your local hard drive IS the client. The NCSoft hard drives (and computers) are the server, your computer is the client.

Geeze, I work in the Technology Department for a school district for a little over two years and I start to talk like those goobers from the edumacational staff.

EDIT: Forgot to thank you for the quote in my sig pohsyb. Too bad I couldn't fit the rest of it in there. We need a slightly larger space in the database for sig size.
