Try again. He's been having this problem since yesterday, June 28. And only with the EU client. His US client connected fine.
This may help you a bit. -
I got the predownload a little over a week ago when I logged off.
Possible that this is the I15 Live Publish. Guess we'll know Soon™. -
Happy Birthday little buddy. Come home safe. And Soon™.
-
Well, since you say the US client can connect and the EU client is the one that is having trouble, I'd recommend starting a thread in the UK Forums Techinical Issues and Bugs section. They are more likely to have answers to problems relating to the EU Updater.
-
Happy Birthday to the Tech Devil.

Just a guess, since there is no information, but if you have the 186.xx video drivers they will cause this exact issue. Revert to the 185.xx drivers. There have been several posts about it in the past few days.
If that doesn't resolve the problems, I'd recommend starting with Zloth's ++ Common Solutions & Posting Guidelines ++ thread that is stickied in this forum.
Secondly, post a log from running CoH Helper as it will give information about your system and the CoH installation and settings.
Thirdly, post a log from running HijackThis. This will show what else is going on on your computer while you are playing CoH. -
Heck, if they think I'm being a jerk they obviously haven't spent much time reading responses in the Player Questions section.
Even I'm not willing to spend more than a few minutes in there.
*shudder* -
So are you saying you have a US Trial account and a regular EU account?
-
When I want to be a jerk, I can certainly be one.
In this instance, I was pointing out to the player that this is not the venue to get anything done about the problem.
Also, I pointed out that while I have a notoriously flaky connection that I hadn't been having any mapserver issues or lag. That alone indicates it is not a game-wide problem.
Others have given even more information.
But, it's nice that you are so willing to share your opinion of me. It warms the cockles of my heart to know that I'm making an impression on the playerbase.

Roll alts on a different server, or transfer characters to a different server.
That way when you are having problems on one of the most populated and stressed servers, you'll have another server to play on until it stabilizes. -

If you want to tell the Devs about a problem, send in a /petition.
[/ QUOTE ]
Send in a /petition for it. Send in a /bug report for it. Spam the Devs PM boxes with it.
Those will all have a chance of getting it seen by a Dev.
As has been mentioned many times, those Rednames don't come 'round here much. There's a thread where we tracked most of the Devs posting habits in this section of the forums. It does show that they look in here occaisionally, but this isn't the place to post about it.
This is a section of the forums for Players to help Players with problems. There's nothing another player can do to help you with this problem. -

It makes it so if you look inside a PSU you'll see a whole mess of yellow wires (12 volt wires are yellow) soldered into the PSU circuit board. The one pictured is a Corsair HX850 (single 70 amp rail) and fortunately uses a module cable design otherwise there would have been even more yellow wires in that bundle.

Sorry, I get a 403 Forbidden with that link. -
Since you are able to post on the US forums, that indicates you have a US account, not an EU account.
The updater.eu is only for those that have an EU account.
Use the regular updater for the US servers, not the updater for the EU servers. -

Couldn't find anything by pohsyb, Castle, or DW in the last year. I was too lazy to change it to maximum date range.

I did the same searches, except I didn't use any constraints on the dates. I came up with the same results. I was just too tired by then to post it.
For completeness sake, I searched Positron's posting history, and he has 0 posts here.

Have I missed any actual rednames (not Community Team members)? If so, my apologies as it wasn't intentional.
EDIT: Did a search (just for giggles) on Statesman. Nope, no posts here. If he had posted here I think it would have been a plea for help in figuring out how to get out of a section of the forums he was totally clueless in. -

Texas, in the case of your supposition of Ghost Falcon, I'll just say this: Posts or it didn't happen. As in... "Suuurrreee they check in here..." Make me a liar, GF, or any Dev, for that matter.
/heck no, I ain't gonna go looking at the "who's looking" thingy... that'd be too logical and isn't the point anyway.
[/ QUOTE ]
I didn't go digging through the Who's Online page, but I did click GhostFalcon's name and then clicked the link to Show All User's Posts.
The oldest post I can find by him in this section. This has a June 22, 2008 date on it.
And the newest post I can find in this section. June 11, 2009 is the date on this one.
Don't think I want to go looking at BAB's, Castle's, DarkWatcher's or pohsyb's posting histories. I do think those 4 would have the next highest likelihood of possibly having posted in here. Or at least having read something in here. -
It wouldn't have to be your ISP, just a slow or flaky connection anywhere between your computer and the CoH Servers.
It could even be a fairly normal connection on one of the hops that is being flooded momentarily. -
Turn off Anisotropic Filtering. Turn off Water Effects. Turn off Depth of Field. Turn down the Physics Quality. You may want to read the first post in BillZBubba's ATI Issues and Settings Recommendations thread that is stickied in this forum. The first post will give you a baseline of settings for the CCC and the game, and you can tweak from there after you get it running stable. It also gives an explanation on why some of the settings need to be Off.
Check with Alienware to see if they have updated video drivers or audio drivers. Hopefully Alienware will be a bit more on top of things than other OEM's, but ya never knowl.
If Alienware doesn't have updated drivers, get the Mobility Modder and either the 9.5 or 9.4 Catalyst drivers from AMD. Follow the Mobility Modder ijnstructions exactly or it won't work correctly. -
Actually houtex, I think Ghost Falcon looks in here from time to time.
I don't recall him ever saying anything here, but I think he looks at it occaisionally.
And Super Martin used to look in here often. When he was still working there. I miss Super Martin. -
Well, you could try running the two programs Mateo linked to and post the output here for the gurus to look at.
-
And what do you expect us, the players, to do to fix this?
That's all this section of the forums is. Players helping players.
Put in a support ticket with PlayNC.
On a related note, I've been online and playing for several hours now and haven't had any lag or mapserve issues. Considering my ISP is a wireless ISP that's a good session.
Perhaps the problems aren't ALL related to the game itself. -
First, post a log from running CoH Helper as it will give information about your system and the CoH installation and settings.
Second, post a log from running HijackThis. This will show what else is going on on your computer while you are playing CoH. -
Try adding your CoH directory to the exclusion list in BitDefender. It could be that BD is scanning the text coming into the logfile, and causing the slowdown.
