Out of curiosity, what were the two that you didn't remove? -

What? You really thought ONE of us wouldn't jump at that opening?

Also, turn down your Physics settings. They should only be set to Very High if you have an Ageia PhysX card installed (with the correct drivers) and enabled. The ingame popup text tells you that it should only be set to Very High if you have the PhysX card installed.

Still, it sounds like either a hardware problem such as Sharker_Quint mentioned or a program slamming your CPU cycles or network. I'd recommend turning off the following from the 04 section of HijackThis log.
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AuditMode] C:\sysprep\factory.exe -logon
(unless there is a specific reason you have run sysprep and put it into factory mode, although I can't think of a GOOD reason to do so)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [IMJPMIG8.1] "C:\WINDOWS\IME\imjp8_1\IMJPMIG.EXE" /Spoil /RemAdvDef /Migration32
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MSPY2002] C:\WINDOWS\system32\IME\PINTLGNT\ImScInst.exe /SYNC

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [BitTorrent DNA] "C:\Program Files\DNA\btdna.exe"
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [DAEMON Tools Lite] "C:\Program Files\DAEMON Tools Lite\daemon.exe" -autorun
O4 - Startup: Trillian.lnk = C:\Program Files\Trillian\trillian.exe
EDIT: Go into Services and set the WinDVD Registration Reminder iviRegMgr.exe to Manaul or Disabled. You don't need this popping up while playing to remind you to register software. Who knows how often it's going to check to see if you've registered or not, and what it can do to processor usage. -

It's commonly referred to by it's other name.
The Justice Server. -
Can't help you there. I have a Win7 install running on my Dell and the game runs fine on it with the same settings as I have on my normal Vista install on the same computer. Two hard drives make it very easy to run a dual boot system. I also have an ATI video card and not an nVidia card, so I'm going to get different issues than you will.
You might try posting the CoH Helper and HijackThis logs and maybe someone will spot something causing the problem. -
WB pohsyb.
The pictures looked very nice.
EDIT:
I'll be nice and translate for the masses. Some programmer should take a look at writing some code to allow us to use Greek letters on the forums.
Translation follows:
I am once again in the box! Also, they do not know Greek. -
Are you basing this off of the message you receive when you login to the game of how many Respecs you have currently?
If so, don't.
You need to open the Badge list, select Veterans Rewards and scroll through the Badges to find the 9 Month badges. One of them will be your Respec award. You have to click on this to "claim" your reward. This is the way many of the Veterans Reward powers, base items, etc are awarded.
Hope this helps.
Of course, if you've already gone into the badge list and this isn't showing or isn't an option, then you'll need to file a Support Ticket at the PlayNC site on the Ask a Question page. -
This also may be something you want to contact HP about. It may be a known issue with that computer model or they may know what steps you need to take to get it resolved.
Also, they "generally" know their system quirks better than any of us "normal" computer tech people. Hopefully, you'll get one of the knowledgeable and helpful techs.
Yes, they exist in most companies, they are just really hard to get on the phone and hard to keep with a company. -
First, post a log from running CoH Helper as it will give information about your system and the CoH installation and settings.
Second, post a log from running HijackThis. This will show what else is going on on your computer while you are playing CoH. -
Before leaving the Market, search for Bounce Back then close the window. When you come back to the Market, that search term should still be there, so it should only load that at the time.
At least, my search terms are always there, but I don't stay away from the game long enough to see how long it will stay there.
You might want to PM the question to either pohsyb or The Dark Watcher to ask if it is something that can be programmed in. Both of these are programmers for the game. If you have trouble getting the PM sent, go to the Dev Digest and click their name, then click Send a Private Message once it brings up their info. -
To be fair to manufacturers, with Vista came a whole new way to wrote drivers and access parts of the OS that hadn't existed with previous versions of Windows.
I learned about some of it from a friend I used to work with. He said the best thing about it was it forced the engineers to clean up their code in writing drivers. -
BS. You CAN adjust settings and such and not run into this.
I know, I ran into it with my new computer just a few weeks ago. I was getting continually caught in a sound loop that would lock me up and crash the game.
I'm not sure WHICH of several steps I took resolved it, as I was shotgunning based off of several threads here in this section of the forums. That's not my normal behavior in the least when it comes to fixing problems, I just wanted to get into the game and enjoy my new toy as soon as possible.
But yes, it CAN be resolved. Others have done so as well.
EDIT: One other thing you may want to try is to run the game in Windowed mode. One of the many steps I took during my shotgun method to fix my problems. -
Don't use the nVidia 186.xx drivers. Use the 185.xx drivers and you'll be fine. The 186.xx drivers cause this in Vista and Windows 7.
I believe this is what Mike_Aaron was referring to:
First, post a log from running CoH Helper as it will give information about your system and the CoH installation and settings.
Second, post a log from running HijackThis. This will show what else is going on on your computer while you are playing CoH.
But ... I'd still roll back the drivers to the 185.xx version as that has been the resolution for the symptoms you describe. -
That's not an 8 year old date. That's a corrupted driver installation. That's why they year lists as 0001.
-
And you have to have the Ageia drivers installed for it as well.
-
EVERYONE is trying to download the update, so the servers or a connection before it gets to the servers is likely throttling the connection speeds and download rates.
Happens every major update.
Want to know where? You can try to tracert to the update servers. Someone, possibly Zombie-Man, posted the addresses recently and someone gave a link to the Wiki listing that gives the ports.
It does me no good to try to tracert anything as my ISP blocks it. Really smart to disable the ability to use one of the best network troubleshooting tools available. -
I wonder if this affects the exploding Vahz?
-
If you feel this is a bug, use the ingame /bug command to send in a bug report.
This forum is for players to help players with Technical Issues. The Devs don't come 'round here much.
Or if they do, they seldom say anything.

You are tying what most people do when a new issue hits the live servers. And in all 15 issues I have been around for. This type of stuff is common. The servers act all wonky for a few weeks before all the bugs get worked through and things begin to level out.
Try and be patient.
These aren't the droids you're looking for...

hold up.
So you're saying that we shouldnt be bringing bugs to the TECHNICAL ISSUES AND BUGS forum, and that it could take weeks to get some kind of workaround so we can play normally?
moreover, you're telling us that we should just sit down and do something else while its broken? I am willing to bet that if they had to reimburse us for lost play time, the issue would be gone in a day or so, hehe.
Unless of course you're suggesting that there is no point in complaining because the devs dont listen? In which case, fair enough, carry on, and you should have said that to begin with
[/ QUOTE ]
What he's saying is that this isn't the forum for this. This forum is players helping players. It isn't a forum that the Devs go through much looking for bugs.
If you find a bug, use the ingame /bug command or you can also try the /petition command if you think it is something that a GM may be able to assist with such as a stuck mob or something along those lines.
It's not a matter of the Devs not listening, it's just that this isn't the forum they listen to for things like this. The /bug command is your best bet for getting it looked at. Everytime it happens use the /bug command. Everytime. -
Turn off Anisotropic Filtering, turn off Bloom, turn off Water Effects, turn off Depth of Field. All will cause problems.
The best recommendation I can give is to thoroughly read and follow the settings in the first post in BillZBubba's ATI Issues and Settings Recommendations thread stickied above.
Also, search for an updated audio driver, yours is a bit out of date. -

Posting this from the PS3 in the living room. lol
After the troubleshooting listed above, it seems that the problem is the PCI-E slot.
Oh well......I tried what I knew. Thanks all for the help anyway.
Now before I attempt to undertake the dangerous task of attempting to convince the wife to make yet another computer related purchase, is is possible to get a bad PCI-E slot repaired, or should I just man up and ask if we can get a new motherboard?
[/ QUOTE ]
Go into the BIOS and check to see if there is a setting for the Default video or to enable/disable the PCI-E slot. It may even be that you need to Disable the onboard video in order for the PCI-E slot to function correctly. Yeah, it shouldn't be this way but I've seen some really oddball settings in BIOS's for various computers that made me wonder what the heck the manufacturer was thinking.
Also, it's possible that there may be a jumper on the motherboard to enable/disable the PCI-E slot or set the default video to use the PCI-E instead of onboard.
Just a thought. -
I'd recommend starting with Zloth's ++ Common Solutions & Posting Guidelines ++ thread that is stickied in this forum.
Secondly, post a log from running CoH Helper as it will give information about your system and the CoH installation and settings.
Thirdly, post a log from running HijackThis. This will show what else is going on on your computer while you are playing CoH. -

The toggle dropping upon zoning bug is back.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's been doing this on Live for some time now. It's not an "all the time" bug, just a high chance of occurrence when zoning (including in or out of missions).
