You'd have to ask the developers, not the players.

No, that is referring to OpenGL 3.0 which is a fairly new standard, much newer that the code that CoH was written on.
If CoH were a game being developed today, yes, I'd expect it to be written to use the current OpenGL 3.0 standard.
I believe the Cryptic Engine used by CoH was written to use the OpenGL 2.0 standard, which was current at the time. OpenGL 2.1 was released in August of 2006, which is a bit over 2 years after CoH was released.
OpenGL 3.0 was released in August of 2008. OpenGL 3.1 was released in March 2009, so apparently by your standards nVidia is behind.
So I'll continue to stand behind what I've been saying all along. The video card manufacturer's need to correctly write drivers that fully support Open GL. Not any particular version of OpenGL, just provide full Open GL support across all versions. -

The newest versions of the Catalyst Control Center don't seem to have these settings.
I figure, if you can't find the setting, it's not worth worrying about.

All of the settings in L_T's post are there and working in the newest drivers. make sure you are looking at the "All Settings" window.

If I were responding to L_T, you might be right. But, I was replying to Santorican's question about 3 settings and No, they aren't there.
Santorican asked about:

Enable geometry instancing: Yes
Support DXT texture formats: Yes
Force 24-bit Z-buffer depth: No

Copy the contents of the CoH folder on the first computer to a DVD, or if the computers are on a network together just share out the folder. Copy all of those files and folders to a folder on the second computer. If you used a DVD to copy them, make sure that the permissions are not set to read-only now.
Copy the Updater to the desktop, run it, do NOT accept the default location instead point it to the folder on the second computer where you copied the folders and files from the first computer to.
easy solution. -
Part of it is the also the lack of open gl support from the video card manufacturers.
-
When nVidia writes drivers that don't cause problems with the game.
ATI users have been waiting for ATI to write decent drivers that support the game correctly for some time now. -
To you, maybe not.
To browsers, there is a big difference. -

Any help on this? (other than changing my browser)
IE 7.

Happens with IE8 as well. Not a solution. -
What video card do you have? What Operating System? There are differences based on those two items.
-
Actually, it doesn't always.
I've had mine set this way for some time. When I got my new system it was one of the first things I set since I knew about it.
On occaision, if I go to My Home and then start browsing other parts of the forums within the same browsing session, I'll start getting the popups again. If I close out the browser after going to My Home and then reopen it to read the forums, I don't have the problem.
I don't have the popup any other time. -
One of the problems with allowing the US servers and EU servers to have the same global name in use and then using those globals in a cross contintental server system such as the MA.
I'm fairly sure it's something that the Devs weren't really thinking about.
I'd bug it in game, and send PM's to pohsyb, Positron, Ghost Falcon, and The Dark Watcher about it as well. -
You can also just Zone, and it will "catch up" the progress bar.
-
Known issue, currently under discussion in the Training Room forums.
-
From what I've seen on the nVidia forums, other games are having problems with the drivers as well.
Not necessarily the same problems we have, but problems nonetheless. -
Maybe someday they'll actually be able to make the JumpBots .... Jump.

Update Vista to SP2.
The main problem however is the new nVidia drivers. They cause this. Drop back to the 185.85 drivers and all will be fine. -
No. Both of those are Spyware programs. They don't do Anti-Virus.

Double-dipping would be charging us a monthly fee, then charging us again each time we wanted to do something built into the game itself, such as choosing a new power.

-reads your fortune, then selfdestructs-
The flaw in your argument is that you appear to define "built into the game" as "things that don't cost extra". They don't charge extra for things "built into the game" --> they don't charge extra for things they don't charge extra for --> circular logic.
[/ QUOTE ]
You are the one trying to use some odd logic here. I clearly defined what I considered to be "built into the game" in my post, and you quoted it. Choosing a new power. Something that only happens when you level up. In other words, something happening through normal gameplay. Unless you buy your account, create your character, sign off and never log onto the character again you'll level up at some point through normal gameplay. And they don't charge us for levellinhg up, which is the point I made originally that you are trying to twist into something else. Well, I guess some of the MA Babies theoretically could stand around inside the farms, never choose a new power and still get to ding enough times to reach 50 but never train up and choose a power before deleting the character, but that's a very extreme example.
Your example is "use an optional power" then "use an optional power". Neither power is required for normal gameplay nor is it something that is built into the game the way levelling up a character and choosing a new power is. -
It's in hyperspace?
I'd recommend starting with Zloth's ++ Common Solutions & Posting Guidelines ++ thread that is stickied in this forum.
Secondly, post a log from running CoH Helper as it will give information about your system and the CoH installation and settings.
Thirdly, post a log from running HijackThis. This will show what else is going on on your computer while you are playing CoH.
