True, I can only state the facts I know to those willing to listen.

Quote:Well, if the image is smaller than 600x 120 pixels but the file size is larger, would it disallow the sig? Since it has theThen I guess this warning (Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 600 by 120 pixels or 146.5 KB (whichever is smaller) ) only applies to uploaded sig images and not ones embedded in a text sig with [img] tags then.Quote:
(whichever is smaller)
Just speculation. I turned off the IMG tags for now since I want to see text sigs but not IMG sigs, so I can't check them. -
Hopefully you filed a /bug report ingame and a /petition as well.
Might even want to PM someone on this, but I'm not sure which Dev would be in charge of such. -
Okay, I checked it with 2.0.0.20 (I think that was the version) and it worked as it should have. So then (against my better judgement) I installed 3.0.12 and cleared all of my private data, and it works as it should. It remembers my login and shows me logged in even before I try posting. I surfed several forums and threads to see if it would log me out but it didn't. It's showed the Welcome Texas_Justice text on every page.
Apparently you have a different issue going on that just Firefox and XP? Possibly there are other differences in what we have installed such as Service Packs, Windows Updates, Java packages, Flash versions or something else that is causing the problems. -
You should see my reply where you stated that in another thread Sin. They were looking at vBulletin before Cryptic ever bought the CO IP, and I think Cryptic still owned part of CoH when they started looking at it along with a few other forum software packages.
They didn't copy CO forums so much as the CO forums got launched on vBulletin before they got ours switched over to vBulletin.
-
Quote:Sin, they were looking at vBulleting long before Cryptic had bought the IP for CO. As a matter of fact, it may have been before NCSoft bought out Cryptic's part of the City of Franchise.I don't like this.
Now we have the forum style of Champions Online....
I prefered the old forums. They were the first forum setup I greatly enjoyed and found easy to move through.
Oh well, guess we are trying to go with a style like other games (including other comic book superhero games).
-Sin
The vBulletin forums have a lot of improvements over UBB, especially on the moderation side, but it may take them a bit to get all of the minor kinks worked out here. I do agree that they can use some work, but using the features of these forums will become second nature when you start using them a bit.
Unless all you do is type and gripe (not you specifically, that's a general you). -
Hellguard? What version of Firefox are you using? That could be a telling point as well.
-
Quote:Well, I've been having the issue for about three weeks. I need to snag that Ping Plotter and see what's going on, because this isn't going away and it's making the game very hard to play.
Zloth, please start your own thread so that we don't get confused as to whose information we are looking at.
Also, I'd recommend starting with Zloth's ++ Common Solutions & Posting Guidelines ++ thread that is stickied in this forum.
Secondly, post a log from running CoH Helper as it will give information about your system and the CoH installation and settings.
Thirdly, post a log from running HijackThis. This will show what else is going on on your computer while you are playing CoH.
Oh my, did I do that?

Quote:*double-checks avatar size*At least you can configure your account to block image tags, displaying a link instead. The downside is while sig images seemed to be limited to a relatively small size, avatars still have the problem of simply being a link, already blocked one in this thread that was over 960KB in size.
Come on, is it so ruddy difficult NOT to post 10+ second gif movies as your (general you) avatar?
Whew. Don't want ya mad at me FatherXmas.

In that case, don't use the misnamed Quick Reply box, instead use the New Post box. It's not really a Quick Reply box anyway, it's a Reply From The Same Page box. If it were a true Quick Reply, you wouldn't have to click anywhere except for in that box to be able to type in it.
-
I disabled the Show Images only. It does indeed disable the images in the sigs, but also images posted in the thread, such as when Positron posted the preview of Issue 16's color customization. It doesn't disable smilies.
But I agree, I want MORE customization options, not less. I'm glad that people that wanted images in sigs finally got them, but I'd like an option to disable Only Images in Only Sigs. -
Quote:Guess I'll have to change my copy/paste text when the new one is up. And thank you for flagging SP2 on Vista. Will make that much easier to catch. It's different, people are bound to get upset. You see it all the time. By the way, did you notice how you can hover your mouse over a topic and see text from the post? Now THAT will be handy!!
Got the color thing fixed, version 1.1.8 of the CoH Helper is ready. It also flags people who haven't got Vista SP2 yet.
(And I fixed my board text coloring program. Muuuhahaha!)
Use your Mouseover technique on just about anything on the forums. There are a wonderful amount of new things that have mouseover information. -
Owlcat, please start a new post with your information so that we don't get instructions for two different problems crossed up.
I'd suggest setting your graphics according the the first post in BillZBubba's stickied thread on ATI Issues and Settings Recommendations here: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=120192 -
Doesn't seem to like your color tags Zloth. Otherwise, it looks fine.
I'm curious to see how a HJT log will look. -
Quote:I'll answer what I can, but someone may be able to clarify what I say.In no particular order
1) Needing to hit quick reply in someone's message before being able to type in the editor box.
2) Gray bar above square avatar.
3) Needing to add background image to ad block (at least bouncing Posi was blocked auto on my system by flashblock.
4) Links not being highlighted in color but underlined instead.
5) No obvious way in editor to add color ... never mind found it.
6) Truly dislike use of game password to login to the forums. Ripe for "harvesting" since I don't even get a secure login icon in my browser on the login page.
7) We can have a signature image now but no more than five lines of text in our sig, not a character count, five lines.
8) No preview, just post.
9) No way to stealth edit for grammar/spelling.
10) No way to jump to new posts without a 2nd click. Not a big thing when the new post is on the first page, annoying if the thread is multi-page.
11) "New Post" isn't clearing reliably after loading the thread.
Hopefully within a week I'll get use to the quirks.
1. Use the New Reply button instead in the lower right corner. It will open to the default editor you have selected in your UserCP. I have mine set for the WYSIWYG editor.
The Quick Reply box here really isn't a Quick Reply box. It's just named that. It's more of a Same Page Reply box since you have to click a Quick Reply icon in a message first. A true Quick Reply box wouldn't need you to click anywhere else first.
2. Will come back to later.
4. Does make it a bit difficult to tell what's a link and what's just underlined text. Needs to be HIGHLY differentiated that it is a link.
7. Griped in Beta, as did others, apparently fell on deaf ears.
8. Only if you use the Quick Reply box and don't click Go Advanced. If you use the New Message or use the Quick Reply with the Go Advanced feature, you get a Preview Post button.
10. If I am looking at a list of threads and see a thread with new posts, I click the white downward pointing triangle. It takes me to the first unread post. No 2 clicks. Just one click.
11. Not sure I follow that one. -
Quote:You must be using the Hero skin.Yeah, I'm very curious about that gray avatar border and MORE curious as to why it stops being "filled in" about 80% of the way through... weird.
I found that rather odd, so thought I'd look at the Villain skin even though I prefer blue. The gray avatar border goes all the way around the image and doesn't stop part way through like it does on the Hero skin.
Weird. -
Quote:Not the preferred option. Yes, it disables the images in the sigs without getting rid of text sigs, but it also disables ALL IMG tagged items in the post. So if, for example, Positron posts an image of an upcoming feature of an issue, I don't see it, just the text the image address. Yes, it is a clickable link, but I'd rather not have to do that with images that are a part of, if not all of, the post.We can disable all image tagged items including sigs separately from avatars. Already disabled that on my account. In theory they are limited to under 162.5KB or 600x120 whatever is smaller.
As I said before, more options, not less.

1. The closest I've found so far is to set the default view to show 100 posts at a time. For most posts, that is more than enough. For epic length threads, I just click the white down arrow next to the Thread Name to take me to the newest post, and I still get 100 posts per page so that works too.
2. It's a TEMPORARY thing with the NA. Apparently, there is a Metatron on the EU forums as well, and since there were duplicate names, it appended the _NA to yours and the _EU to theirs. They will be announcing Soon™ what the solution will be.

Quote:Yes, although it took me damn near forever to find it, and it's not much fun. Also not as intuitive.
When you go into the forum you want to read, at the top of the forum is the banner with Forum Tools and Search This Forum tabs. Click on Forum Tools, then under that, click on Subscribe to this Forum (you can also subscribe to any thread in the same way).
When you log in, go to the User CP link from the top banner. That'll take you to your control panel - all your forums will be listed right there. Down the side will be the controls for PMs and options; at the bottom will be the subscribed threads.
Not really what I was looking for, but it is a workaround. I'd looked at this, but since it isn't putting it on the front page of my forums, it isn't really what I'm wanting. One of the tabs of my homepage is the forums. Having to go through the extra steps to see what I'm wanting to see is rather ... annoying.
A difficult way to do it in my opinion as well.
Ah well, I was afraid this would be my only option.
At least it is one of the few things I've found so far that I don't like on the new vBulletin forums. -
Quote:Well, on the forums alone, FatherXmas uses dial-up, but yeah, I know several people who are stuck with dial-up. My wireless ISP is barely above dial-up, but it's the only option (aside from the horrendous HughesNet) that is available to me.I don't know about you, but I know nobody that still uses dial up. Load times should not be an issue, and for those that it IS an issue for, well, you have the option there.
If we could get a split of the options on whether or not to show images in sigs, text in sigs, all images in a post or just avatar images, I'd be happy. Since I often browse the forums from work, being able to turn off the images in Signatures alone would help, since they often stand out more than the Avatars do. And the ESC key works nicely to stop the animations in the avatars.
More customization options is what we need however, not less. -
And good luck to getting logged in and not having a lag fest on Virtue this weekend. The only place likely to be worse is Freedom.
Aw, it's a shame you didn't just post this in Justice. Why did you have to cross post it to ALL the North American server forums?

Quote:Here's your solution:Please, please this!
And can we have a link after the last post in a thread to return to the index?
When I've finished reading a thread I now have to go all the way back up to the top of the page to return to the thread index.
I know it's minor, but it was a nice QoL feature on the old boards.
Scroll down slightly to just below the Quick Reply box.
In the lower right corner is a Forum Jump feature. By default, it is set to the index of the forum you are viewing a post in. However, you can also decide to visit a completely new forum section just by choosing the Forum and clicking Go.
So, for example, I'm in Technical Issues and Bugs and I finish the last post I need to check there. I could either scroll to the top, click on English to get to the most logical starting point, then go to Servers, then Justice, or I can use the Forum Jump to get me directly to Justice from there.
Very nice if you ask me.
