Actually, it likely did help. If it hadn't been for the maintenance they did, Freedom would likely be completely down.
  2. Pulling a 500 post per page view would put quite a load on the SQL database. At least I think I saw SQL as the database. Could be wrong. But, it would severely strain any database, even with 200 posts per page.

I dont think i'll be posting, or even reading these forums much if at all anymore. They give me a headache.
I'm pretty sure they will be adding more Styles soon.

The FAQ link at the top of the page next to UserCP has some really good instructional areas.

I've seen smileys since 2 minutes after I got on the forums, since I bothered to put in a bit of effort and look for things instead of just whining and griping. That isn't aimed specifically at you Cherokee, just the normal whining and griping on the forum without putting forth any effort.

I've spent most of the past day looking here and on various forums elsewhere for tips on vBulletin. And posting answers here for people. There are answers all over the place in the FAQ, posted by other users, and on forums elsewhere dedicated to vBulletin stuff.

You get out of it what you put into it I guess.
  4. You could roll back to an older driver, or try the solutions in Tease's stickied post about Vista/Win7/Server08 Crashes at the top of this forum section.

That was a common problem with the previous driver. Many had success with the 185.85 driver.

Just to make sure, you did use this link to download the drivers? I don't think a different OS version would install, but I'm not gonna swear to anything nVidia does with drivers.
  6. Genia, have you tried the forums with the Villain style? I think you may have some of the same difficulties as you did with the gradients on the Hero style, but some visuals have different effects.

I'd just like to get your impression of that style.

To quickly change the style to test it, scroll down all the way to the lower left corner under the Posting Rules box. There is a drop-down there where you can set Hero or Villain using the Quick Style chooser.

It's in the driver installation. It's corrupted, as shown by the funky looking dates.

Maybe someone with more experience with recent nVidia driver cleaning and installation can be of better assistance.

    Here's part of the problem:

    Quote:

Manufacturer / Chip: NVIDIA / GeForce 9800 GT
    Video Memory: 1024.0 MB
    Driver Version: 6.14.0011.9038
    Driver Date: 01/01/0001 12:00:00 AM
    Driver Language: English
Your video driver installation is corrupt. Uninstall your drivers and download DriverSweeper then install it, reboot to Safe Mode and run DriverSweeper getting rid of ALL Display drivers, reboot but don't let Windows autoload drivers, install the nVidia drivers cleanly. Test to see if that resolves it. If so, WIN!!

If not, let us know and post a fresh CoH Helper log.
  9. Sorry Kat, maybe my joke didn't come through in the translation to the vBulletin forums. (Yes, it's another joke).

Maybe it has something to do with the fugly smilies we have and them looking so blurry.

Anyway, yes, it was supposed to be a humorous post, but it apparently wasn't as humorous in print as it was in my head.

Ah well. Can't win 'em all.

    Or sometimes any.

EDIT: I was seeing that Killer was offering to bring either a Stalker or MM, and MissInformed was bring a Dom (that isn't on DB's list) and just thinking if you brought the opposite of what Killer brought or a Brute, it would balance the AT's somewhat. So the joke did have some basis in reality at least.

First, post a log from running CoH Helper as it will give information about your system and the CoH installation and settings.

Second, post a log from running HijackThis. This will show what else is going on on your computer while you are playing CoH.
  11. Bah, coming in here being all Fabulous by giving us solution that are easy to implement.

    Muchos gracias amigo.
  12. If you want to see them ALL, including the French and German, I'm not sure if it can be done.

However, if you want to see an approximation of the old UBB front page of the forums, use the navigation hyperlinks at the top of the forum and click the English link. When I do that it gets me that view off ALL English Forums and their subforums.

I believe you can bookmark that view, but haven't tried so I'm not sure.
  13. /headscratch

Couldn't you joining the team help make it a bit more balanced, AT wise?

Depending on what you join with of course.

  15. Now now, let's not blame the new forum software. I've already learned some neat stuff we can do with it.

Hopefully, they'll get a chance to add some nice mods for us, maybe some new Styles that are a bit more pleasant or at least give us more options, some new configuration options and other goodies.
  16. Looking at the properties for your avatar, it says that the location is http://www.http//i544.photobucket.co...ichigosdad.gif

I suspect that if you remove the leading http://www. that it may work. If not, we can troubleshoot from there.

EDIT: Don't remove the leading http://www. portion, instead remove the www.http// portion since that portion is incorrect. It should work after that.

Second Edit: Okay, here's the corrected address to use: http://i544.photobucket.com/albums/hh353/Lucky6ith/ichigosdad.gif Don't know why I didn't do that first.
  17. That's a temporary thing with name conflicts. TheOcho and Niviene have stated that we'll have information Soon™ with how it will be resolved.

EDIT: _NA indicates a North American server account whereas _EU indicates an EU server account.

Without any information to work with, it's hard to tell if it's Double XP related, graphics settings related, or what the problem is.

First, make sure you've set your ATI CCC settings and in-game graphics settings according to the first post in BillZBubba's stickied ATI Issues and Settings Recommendations thread.

Secondly, post a log from running CoH Helper as it will give information about your system and the CoH installation and settings.

Thirdly, post a log from running HijackThis. This will show what else is going on on your computer while you are playing CoH.

You may also want to look at Tease's stickied thread about Vista/Win7/Server2008 Crashes at the top of the forum.

Fifth, what server are you playing on?
  19. You can turn off those HUGE graphics in the UserCP under Edit Options. I only unchecked the last box of the three (Show Images) as it lets me see avatars and I can still see the text and links in peoples signatures. The downside is that if someone posts an image IN a post, as Positron did showing off the Power Customization a while back, it won't show the picture. It does however provide a clickable link that I can click to open the image in a new window IF I choose to.

It took me a while to get used to vBulletin when I first encountered it, but I've found it to be extremely easy to use, and for the Administrators to change by using various mods that are available.

It will take some time for them to get everything set just right on their end, which gives the users time to start figuring out how to do some of the things in vBulletin.

Since most of the Community team and many of the Dev team are watching the Discussion, Feedback, and Bug threads that they created for these new forums I don't expect your "The majority of customers like it." scenario to fly. Or to be accepted blindly if someone does try to fly that flag.

Much like any change, if you aren't willing to put in the effort to learn the system and configure to your needs as much as you are able, the only thing that didn't change is you.
  20. I haven't been able to find such a setting JDouble. It could be that there is a mod that will allow this, but I haven't had time to look at a lot of the mods as of yet.
  21. One of the things I loved on the old forums was the Favorite Forums toggle that let me customize which forums I saw (and didn't see) when I came to the boards.

I miss that, but I've found a workaround that some of you may like and wrote a quick Guide that you may want to look at.

Here is a link to a post on the vBulletin Community Forums dealing with code usage.

The FAQ link at the top of this site is very useful, and will help some of you acclimatize yourself to the new forums.
  22. Okay, these are the steps I used.

    Click Search.

    Select Advanced Search.

In the Search by Username section, start typing the name then select it from the list that drops down. Make sure that Exact Name is still checked.

In the Search in forum(s) section, select English and make sure that the check mark is still in the box to search child forums.

In the Show Results As section on the lower left, select Posts.

    Click Search Now.

Let's see if these come up any better for others than the other links did.

    Here's Niviene

    Here's Positron

Let me know the results here. If not, the above steps will work to get your own custom searches.

EDIT: Well, saw Z_M's edit after I submitted my post. Dang.
  23. In addition to Zombie_Man's link above, you may like my guide to simulating the old Favorite Forums look that we had on UBB.
