Old error message that has been popping up on occaision of late.
-
Good to know. I'd seen a post with some software abbreviations and versions that got dinged but wasn't aware of what all the rules are that trigger the anti-shouting.
Looked odd for a post of FF 3.51 IE 8 (or something similar) to get smacked.
But now I know.
And knowing is half the battle. -
Very peculiar. Also odd is that if I go to the Dell support site it lists no drivers for that video card, although I can see it if I try to configure a system.
I looked at the 185.85 driver page, but they don't list that card as being supported so I don't know what to suggest at this point.
Maybe put in a call to Dell support to see if they can find a way to get the drivers updated? I think the GTS 240 is a fairly new card since I hadn't seen it mentioned in any previous driver listings.
Perhaps one of the nVidia guru's will have a suggestion to resolve this. Sorry I can't be of more help than identifying the problem. -
Yeah, the anti-shouting settings seem a bit .... over-zealous.
I'd almost be curious to see what it would do with something like the following:
COH VS WOW
EDIT: Apparently that wasn't considered shoutijng, hmmm .... ok. -
On a side note, I must admit to being a bit jealous. I bought my XPS 435MT in May and didn't have the option to go to an nVidia video card, only the ATI HD 4850 as an upgrade option then.
I'd have jumped all over an nVidia upgrade if it had been available. -
Download and install DriverSweeper but don't run it yet.
Uninstall your current video drivers.
Boot into Safe Mode.
Run DriverSweeper and remove any nVidia Display Drivers or Video Drivers it finds.
Reboot into Windows normally. Cancel any automatic driver installations.
Run the setup program for the 190.62 Vista 64-bit drivers. It does list the GTS 240 as a supported product. -
Quote:That's very odd. The link I gave was for the 64-bit version of the driver, not sure why it's saying something about a 32-bit version. Unless .....it didn't work. Vista is upgraded to SP 2. I downloaded the 185.85 driver. I uninstalled the previous driver and then tried installing the 185.85. But I received this message:
You are running a 32 bit version of Nvidia uninstaller on a 64-bit system (Binary type I386). Wrong version of uninstaller.
And then the install program quit.
Advice?
Did you use the link I gave to download the 185.85 driver or did you find it using some other means? If you used a different method to get the driver, you obviously got the wrong version of the driver.
The link I gave is for the Vista 64-bit driver. -
Chariot, upgrade your video drivers. The entire 186.xx series of drivers were problematic with CoH.

Talos,
Upgrade Vista to Service Pack 2. Use Windows Updates. You may have to install several updates and reboot and go back to Windows Updates more than once to get Service Pack 2 to show up. Since you don't even have Service Pack 1 installed, I've no idea how many updates you'll need to do in order to get SP2 to show.
Upgrade your Video Drivers. The 186.18 drivers were one of the drivers that caused this problem.
Your C drive is very low on free space, that can cause more problems for Windows and the swap file. Move what you can to the other drive or just clean up unneeded files. -
Post a log from running CoH Helper as it will give information about your system and the CoH installation and settings.
Second, post a log from running HijackThis. This will show what else is going on on your computer while you are playing CoH.
You may also want to go back to a previous driver version. Someone made a post in the past few days about having problems with the new 9.8 Catalyst drivers. You can find several of the most recent ATI Drivers at Guru3D. You can also download DriverSweeper from Guru3 as well. -
Quote:Thank you for the link Quat, I was having trouble remembering who had posted it.
Notice that it says AFTER I16 launches. It doesn't say it will be WITH I16. -
Rather than complain in the threads, why not just report it?
Per Niviene, those comments would be abuse, a violation of the forum rules and not tolerated by the moderators.

From the Paragon Wiki entry:
A Vanguard Merit is a special salvage awarded for completion of tasks or defeat of Rikti in the Rikti War Zone as well as Rikti spawned from portals as part of the Rikti World Invasion event. Merits can also be earned by defeating Rikti elsewhere, such as in missions from contacts Steven Sheridan in Brickstown or Angus McQueen in Founders' Falls, or in the streets of Peregrine Island. -

If you are going to try to twist someone else's words to try to make your point, find someone else's post to misquote.
You may have your own agenda you are trying to promote. I really don't know and don't care. Just don't try to misquote me to try to show that others, and especially me, share that misguided opinion.
For those that are interested, the original quote is below.

Check Bill Z Bubba's post here for help on speeding up the Test install.
-
I'm not sure if there is a way to fix this, but I have a character named Texas' Justice but it is showing on the Character Copy page as Texas\s Justice.
I've queued him up to copy over to Test just to see if it's working, but I'm curious how the Character Copy will handle non-alphanumeric characters in the names.
I'll report back once I see how, or if, he transfers over. -
The only thing I can see that I don't really care for is that there is no option to add this to the Subscribed Forums as I can the other sections of the Development section.
I'm assuming that this is due to it being a modified Search and not a Forum in the normal sense of vbb Forums. Since it also isn't a thread, it can't be added to Subscribed Threads.
Would it be possible to instead create a Forum under Development called Digests or something similar that contains just these two items? That would give us a Forum (in the vbb sense of a Forum) that we can put in Subscribed Forums.
Otherwise, I'm likely going to have to keep using the player created Digest page due to simplicity. -
Quote:He can't even get a closed Beta invite, how do you expect him to be able to award a badge?Oh thank goodness. I noticed the blocky geometry as well but I thought it was just senility setting in. Nice to know it's fixed and that I wasn't going insane.
BaB: somebody deserves a Bug Hunter badge for this thread.

It DOES happen for me on Windowed mode on my widescreen monitor. Using an ATI HD4850.
It takes very little time to get used to IMO and I've never grabbed the wrong enhancement to slot it. -
Also, what address are you going to for your login? I know that the boards.cityofheroes.com address works, and that initially the boards.cityofvillains.com, boards.coh.com, boards.cov.com, and eu.boards.cityofheroes.com would not work correctly. I don't know if they've gotten issues resolved or not.

I beg to differ here. I've seen hundreds of apps that ran fine on Mac's using OS7, 8, or 9 that didn't run at all after upgrading to OS X. It's not purely a Microsoft issue.
