I'm not. Read the post 4 posts before yours. There are some things that they can simulate, such as server load, but actual server load sometimes does things that simulated load doesn't or can't do.

Just because one of the test servers has a copy of the Freedom character database, that doesn't mean that enough people logged on to test this and give accurate indications of what happens a live server when it gets a normal load of characters logged on.

IIRC, the Unknown is often what is reported as the servers are coming back up but not fully online and ready for login.

See above. And you may be too late. I think he's already finished the arc and published it. He said something about being at the file limit, so not sure if he can add you in now or not.

    Ya snooze ya lose.

Sometimes load. Being that it was a map instability problem, it could be almost anything. Actual load isn't something they can simulate correctly. They have tools to simulate load, but it doesn't always do things that actual load will do.

    Possible, but doubtful.

Two hours would be 7:45 Central, currently it's 6:45 Central. I can't see it taking another hour unless they run into huge problems reverting the patch on the servers. HUGE problems.

Training room finally shows as UP. Hopefully that's a good sign.

Correct. Because they also have to roll back the patch on all of the game servers as well, which usually takes a bit longer than our getting the download.

    New Laptop

I'll preface this by saying that I do actually like Dell computers, as long as people aren't buying the cheapest POS system that is currently on sale on the Dell site. A well researched and customized Dell system will generally last for a good amount of time. I can still play CoH on my Inspiron 8200 laptop purchased in late 2002, although I do have to lower the graphics settings quite a bit to keep it fairly smooth.

That being said, I don't see anything that jumps out as being a problem specifically. I don't know if the 4670 will handle ALL of the Ultra Mode goodies topped out, but it should handle most of them. I was told at HeroCon that my ATI HD 4850 1GB card should handle all but one of the settings maxxed out, and that I'd likely never visually notice that I couldn't get all of that one other setting. Not knowing all of the differences between my PCI-e 4850 and your Mobile 4670 card, I'd think it "should" handle most of Ultra Mode.

If it were me, the things I'd look at customizing on the system (keeping price in mind as well) would be top out the Graphics card (if this isn't the top), increase the CPU if possible, maximize the memory (depending on price). Often, it's cheaper past a certain point to buy the memory elsewhere and put it in yourself but if it's a reasonable price differential I'll go ahead and bump it up until the cost differential is higher than I'm willing to pay.

That's what their maintenance posts always say. That way if they NEED the full two hours they are covered. If everything goes smoothly and it's up faster (which is usually the case) they can breathe easier knowing that they weren't going to have to look at angry posts for it taking longer than announced.

All patched up, now waiting on the Server's to spin up.

Not so much mommy as Daddy Ross or Mini-Ross.

And it's not "sometimes" it's "most of the time".

You should see it in person when they get The Evil Eye from someone in Marketing and have to start changing what they are saying in mid-sentence.

I'm currently downloading the rollback, so it shouldn't take too long.

I think what they do is keep it hidden to have someone else on the team proofread it for them. Or possibly someone from The Evil Empire™ (otherwise known as Marketing) needs to give the approval first.

    The world may never know.

I quoted myself here to give you an easy reference point. Both Avatea's post in the Announcement's section and the post on the webpage were made AFTER the post I quoted above.

Also, in case you haven't noticed, most of the posts by the Community team don't show up immediately when they post it. It's fun to be watching the Community Digest and see posts suddenly show up from a half hour to an hour after the timestamp on the posts. Equally amusing is to be looking in the Announcements section, refreshing the page occaisionally, and suddenly seeing posts show up with the delay.
  14. Especially since I've gotten some nasty Neg Rep comments on some really old posts. Are you suggesting Bubbawheat that we go through every post we've made to check the rep comments?

At this point, the Rep system seems more useless than it did before. At least I could get a bit of amusement easily by looking at the Rep comments, whether positive or negative.

Yes, the ingame statement came AFTER I made that post. I was logged in since around 4:00 Central time until the announcement that the servers would be coming down in 30 minutes, which was around 5:30 Central time. And the announcement mentioned nothing about TF's. I've gone through my logs to see if I missed an announcement, but hadn't.

Ingame Admin announcement that the servers are going down in 30 minutes for maintenance, so likely either a hotfix or a rollback of today's patch.

As for manben, the problem is that I don't know you from Adam either. You post statements like you did with no corroborating evidence, I can accept that you may have gotten some information from somewhere that you can't post without violating forum guidelines so I asked to be pointed to other threads where this is being discussed since I've found none but the two here (and only two posts in two threads even mention a TF) and you come off all offended? Since I'd already stated that I'd found no other information about it on the forums, yes, your post at that point equated to FUD. Which is why I asked to be pointed in the "general direction of any threads discussing this".

Oh, and "might be" against forum guidelines doesn't cut it for me. It either IS or ISN'T against forum rules. If you aren't sure what they are, look at the top of every forum section on the boards, there is a link there to them. They clearly state the rules. If it's information you received in an email, ingame conversation or PM from a redname or support, it IS against the rules to post it without permission. No "might be" about it.
  17. Most likely, no one tested this on a Shield character or if they did they had the sound off. It's really something QA should have caught, but I refuse to comment on their QA department after HeroCon.

Or in a very likely possibility, if someone tested it and noticed the stuttering they didn't file a /bug report.

As far as "If it ain't broken, don't fix it" this was likely a side-effect of adding or fixing something else. They weren't fixing jumping Shield characters, but something else they fixed (or added) had a side-effect of causing this. Again, QA.
  18. Eh, that's ok. Everyone knows I'm a BAB stalker anyway, and not just on the forums.

Hopefully you've filed a /bug report on this, or it may not get fixed.

I'd recommend sending BAB a PM about this thread as well to bring it to his attention.

Citadel has other problems as well, but that's immaterial to this bug.

It sounds like the patch notes indicate only TFs in the level 50 range have the "spawn at -1" problem, but I think lower level ones do too. At least Citadel did earlier this week.
Actually, Citadel is 25-30 for XP, but 25 and up to be able to run it. If you look at the patch notes, it says "that includes Level 50". It's fairly clear that this means any Task Force or Strike Force that can be run by a Level 50. Since ANY Task Force or Strike Force can be run by a Level 50 I'm not sure why that part of the notes was needed.

Then again, when looking at the reports on the -1 bug on the Technical forums, the only Task/Strike Forces mentioned are the STF, ITF, LRSF, and LGTF. Nobody reported (in that thread) on lower level ones being bugged except through Oro (and all of those are bugged) so unless people have been filing /bug reports when they get the -1 on the lower level TF/SF runs they have no way of knowing those are bugged.
  24. I'd recommend PM'ing the Dev you stalk since he'd know the answer better than anyone else.

    Radeon 7000?

They are telling him he needs to upgrade his video card because it is below the Minimum Requirements for the game.

Minimum supported ATI card is a Radeon 8500.
