  1. Well, from reading this thread I learned something.

    Size DOES matter.

  2. Happy Birthday. Hope it's a great day.

    Game Won't Load

Post a log from running CoH Helper as it will give information about your system and the CoH installation and settings.

Likely due to the fact that he seldom posts anymore. He was too busy while going to school to post, and now that he's graduated and working on a game he won't have time to post much. Although he does find time to update Facebook a lot of late.
  6. Ok. Use the settings in the first post of Bill Z Bubba's stickied ATI Issues and Settings Recommendations post to set your Catalyst Control Center and ingame graphics settings. Bill also gives a pretty good step by step guide on how to uninstall ATI drivers and install cleanly. I'd recommend using DriverSweeper instead of DriverCleaner since DriverSweeper is still free. You can also use the steps on the DriverSweeper page.

Since you are having trouble getting into the game, there are two options for changing your graphics settings. You can launch the game in Safe Mode (check the Safe Mode box on the EULA screen before clicking I Accept) to load into the game using pretty much the lowest settings, then adjust the settings from there and relaunce the game afterwards. The other option would be to download and install TweakCoH since it will let you set your graphics before launching the game. I prefer TweakCoH since it's easier than having to recheck the settings after going to Safe Mode.

Just a quick glance at your settings shows several that need to be turned off with an ATI card, namely Vertical Sync, Anisotropic Filtering, Water Effects (can be set on Low), Bloom, Depth of Field, and Desaturation Effects. I'd also recommend setting it to run in Windowed Mode at the Desktop resolution.

Apparently I fail at trying to make my point, so at this stage, I think I'll just vacate the Screenshots & Fan creations subsection of the forums. I'll probably wander back in following links from the Dev Digest or Community Digest, or possibly following a link from a post in the Justice forums, but I'll try to remember to refrain from commenting.

    Toodles.

I don't that it's possible, but I understand the reasons behind it.
Well, TBH, I didn't read Foo's request for screenshots as an offer of free artz. Had it been something I'd considered an offer, I'd have responded privately to decline. It wasn't until Viv's comment that it even crossed my mind that it "might" have been an offer, but I still rejected that thought as it didn't read that way to me. Especially since this was one of my first posts in this section. Had I been a regular here, with a rapport already established with the other regulars, I "might" have seen it as an offer.

Why would I decline an offer of free artz? It's not, as Juggertha suggested a desire for FULL control over how he's portrayed. Anyone can run my arc and see all of my characters (well, all but one, but he's irrelevant). Anyone that runs it will immediately see it's purely an ego stroking arc, and nothing more. And they are free to do whatever they want in drawing any of those characters. I can't stop them. They could even use those characters in their own arcs, and again, I can't stop them. If I'd not wanted them used in other arcs or been the inspiration for an artist I wouldn't have put them in my arc.

It has more to do with the fact that some are just not comfortable with offers of free stuffz from people when it is something that involves talents that we lack.

As an example, I know a gentleman that plays this game that is a very talented artist. He's also someone that I like and respect both as a player and as a person. I had made a joking comment in a thread on the Justice forums about no one wanting to draw TJ but being willing to draws Eyes instead. This gentleman told me to send him pics and he'd see what he could do, but I declined in a PM since (a) it was a joking comment in the first place and (b) I'd have felt very uncomfortable with a free drawing knowing how talented he is.

I think they are referring to the quote in Neutra's sig where BAB asked if he was seriously using "casual gamer" and "purpling out a warshade" in the same post.

EDIT: I believe Leandro also has that in his sig.

    "Alien"
Most likely the post was in a thread that got deleted in a forum purge. Having a Dev post in a thread does not automatically mark the thread to not be purged.

Many good serious comments, informative posts, and joking comments by various Devs have been lost to the forum purges over the years.

EDIT: I found a link that gives the full post, including the comment BAB was referring to, although it is ONLY BAB's post on it and not the full thread, so we don't get ALL of the context. They seem to have all of the Dev posts listed, likely for just this situation. And here I though Red Tomax's site was dead for some reason.

EDIT 2: Ok. After looking at the post dates, they run from 28 July 2009 to 3 April 2007 only, so not a full listing, but it at least gives us a little over 2 years of posts to search through.
  11. And people wonder why I quit trying to help.

This is what I see too often when I'm looking at artwork of male superheroes, unless it's in a Bruce Timm style or something more anime based. Using the bottom photo as a reference and coming out with an artistic interpretation like that in the quoted post.

My not posting screenshots isn't that I don't want any of the talented artists here to see them and decide to try their hand at TJ. Mostly it's due to not having decent screenshots of TJ that would give decent reference shots. I'm either zoomed waaaay out to take in the size of the fight (Kronos Titan, Paladin construction, Lusca, etc.) or zoomed waaaaay out and have effects out the wazoo obscuring almost everything (old-style Hami Raids mostly). I'm just not much for remembering to take screenshots of myself, and when I do the lighting is off, the composition is screwy or something else that makes me loathe to post it.

And it certainly isn't a slam at Foo. I've seen his work on DA and like it, but it just isn't what I'm picturing in my mind for TJ. There are several artists work that I like very much but just can't see TJ being done by them. Of the couple I can think of off the top of my head that I can imagine commissioning some work from of TJ, I either can't really justify the expense in my head or they aren't taking commissions when I look.

I'm not sure how to take LJ's post, so I'll just leave it alone. I fear I've offended the local art community enough in one thread.

EDIT: To clarify one other thing, when I finally do commission someone to do some art of TJ it will motivate me to get good reference shots available. Most likely that will be from reactivating my second account and taking the screenshots from that account so that I can get the angles, composition, etc. that I'm happy with.

One of these days I guess I'll run one of these newer TF's.

Once I find an artist I'm willing to commision for a piece, reference pics will be available to them. I may include a link to those pics when I post the finished art on the forums.

Um. What is Chris Claremont doing in a group of artists? Writing their dialog?

Seriously, while Chris had a long stint writing X-Men and was involved in the creation of several memorable characters, he's not an artist. He's a writer.

This is one of the main things that has stopped me from commissioning any art of TJ. I can find plenty of artists that could do a pleasing job on Eyes of Texas, especially in her Hami raid outfit, but when I do find an artist with examples of male characters, they aren't in a style I like or they are the overly muscled depictions of characters. TJ just doesn't have the overly muscled physique, so I'm still searching for something I'll be satisfied with.

  19. 18 would have to do it for me.

As for my favorites? Well, I've always been a big Bettie Page fan, so of course Dave Stevens is at the top of my list. Adam Hughes does great work as well, but the BP stuff puts Dave over the top.

If I were still being the helpful sort, which I'm not, I'd suggest asking one of the P.E.R.C. people to help advertise it on other servers.

After all, isn't providing assistance for people organizing events part of what they are supposed to do? At least, that's what we were told when they were originally formed.

Too bad I'm not still being helpful or I might have had a suggestion for you.
  21. Probably also why we have two threads here by the same name started by the same person.

Whoever moved it wasn't paying attention. They should have merged them instead.

Remember, with it being right at Thanksgiving, and needing to be escalated from the Tier 1 support people, that it may take a bit longer. I'm not sure what their Account Support people work as far as Holidays, but I do know that they are Monday through Friday only. I'd suspect that they will be off Thursday, and MAY be off Friday as well.

    But that's just a guess.

They'll get it straightened out, it just may take a bit more time with being right before a major holiday.

EDIT: Of course, it the EU account support is handled from NCSoft's EU offices, the above is irrelevant anyway.
