    Help please

Uncheck the setting for Windows 2000 compatibility (it needs no OS compatibility setting).

Go into your web browser and remove the Proxy settings.

That looks like it should resolve your problems.

    Help me please!!

    You can download it here.

That link was taken from the City of Heroes Support site on the All About the NCSoft Launcher page that can be found on the Answers tab by searching for NCSoft Launcher.

I'm not sure how much of it is a limitation of the forum software, how much of it is a limitation of the Seattle web team's capabilities and how much of it is a limitation of the NCSoft billing system.

The NCSoft billing/accounts system only recognizes 2 types of accounts, VIP or Free (applies to Free and Premium). To recognize a third type would require work to change the billing/accounts system. We already have people locked out of their accounts due to the changes to the billing system last week that split Aion and Lineage II accounts into a different system. How long would it take them to get this implemented and working correctly just to add a third type of account?

The web team tied our forum login (and therefore, forum access levels) to our game accounts and since part of that linkage includes the billing system, both would need some serious work to allow recognizing multiple types of accounts.

From what I'm told by some forum admins on other sites that use vBulletin, adding another level of logged in permissions is doable in vBulletin and restricting the access to sections based on those permissions is doable as well, although it can be a bit involved to initially set up. It may or may not require updating to a newer version of vBulletin, something the OCR team is already trying for (and has been for some time from some things that have been said). It may also require the purchase of some specific vBulletin add-ins and people learning how to correctly configure them (oops, that's the Seattle web team again, good luck). The first obstacle would still be recoding the NCSoft billing system to recognize a third type of account.

Since that is something that would have to be set up by the Seattle web team, I'm not sure if A) they'd agree to something like that or B) if they could successfully configure it without fouling more things up. This is the same team that decided that users couldn't be logged in to the forums for more than 8 hours and in setting that up they've fouled up the cookies so that they expire or delete if you close the browser, sometimes expire or delete if you hit the Back button, randomly still log you out for no apparent reason and other problems.

As for tying it to a Reward Tier, I'm not sure if the Paragon Rewards system has a way to tie a Reward Token or a Reward Tier to anything on the forums. As it is currently configured it only applies to things in the game itself. There likely would be quite a bit of work needed on the system to be able to interface with the forum software, and again, that would require more work from the Seattle web team and I've lost trust in their abilities to get things right. It would likely also require more work by PlaySpan (the people that developed the Market interface).

All in all, I really don't see them doing something like this because it would require quite a bit of work in several areas, most of them not under direct control of Paragon Studios (Billing being under NCSoft Austin, forum software being under the Seattle web team and the store interface requiring more work from PlaySpan). It would also be quite a bit of work for very little tangible benefit and would also require more work from the Paragon Studios staff for increased moderation of those forum sections. I frankly don't see that happening.

    -----------------------

    That being said:

If they ever do find a way to allow the Rewards system to interact with the forum software then you still have need for a UI system to allow the user to select which forum sections to apply it to as well as configuration from the Seattle web team to implement those selections.

And as others have pointed out, what about people that run mulitple AT's? What about those that operate actively on multiple servers and need to participate in that servers forum section?

If they were ever to implement something like this I'd recommend opening the following with a fairly high level Reward Tier (I'd rather it be a Tier fill requirement than a Token unlock simply to keep from losing current Token slotting, but either would work):

    News, Events & Announcement Discussion
Archetypes and Powers (yes, the entire section, no limitations to a specific AT)
    Servers (yes, the entire section)

If they could ever work something like this out, which would require a huge amount of work as it is, I'd say put one of the unlocks at Tier 6, one at Tier 7 and one at Tier 8 (either a specific section at a specific Tier or a choice of one of those sections at each Tier).

In addition maybe add a Token unlock for 1 forum section in For Fun OR 1 forum section in Player Help in Tier 9. Some would have to make a choice between say CHVC and Market & Inventions sections, but as part of the reasoning behind limited forum access was due to the need for increased moderation I could see them limiting it to a choice of one specific forum section for a Tier 9 token.

It was just a thought, especially since I'd been presented with new information I didn't have before (you blocking Meta redirects).

Good luck on the password capitalization.

Snow Globe - Is it possible that you blocking all of these meta redirects could be affecting your being able to log in to and access your Master Account?

Is it possible that there is a meta redirect taking place during the authentication process that your settings are specifically prohibiting?

Since part of what they did was to split the Aion and Lineage II off to a different authentication and billing system (using the email address now instead of the account username) they could be doing meta redirects at that point to direct traffic from one generic login page to different sites based on the credentials supplied.

In other words, your overly restrictive settings may be causing the problems you are experiencing.
  6. I'd also recommend turning Ambient Occlusion to OFF.

But you definitely need to update Windows to SP2 and get any updates that have come after that.

You may want to disable Overwolf as well since it could be using resources the game needs.
  7. Turn off Ambient Occlusion. Completely OFF.

    75%

From the way they (again) answered questions about the Sorcery pool, I don't expect that to be available in I24.
  9. From the GMotD when I logged in today:

We are aware of the following Known Issue regarding Power Customization

    Tailor - Power Customization

    * Water Blast and Beam Rifle are resetting their power customization colors when you pick the brightest white as either primary or secondary color.

    * This bug will still take your character’s Inf or free Tailor token and make undesired color changes.

    * If you do select the brightest white, just back out of the tailor window to avoid paying for unwanted changes.

    * Players are able to customize these powers to all other colors besides the bright white in the upper right corner.

    The Paragon Studios Community Team
  10. You could have someone else in your household log in to your NCSoft account and change the Master Account password and the Game Account password and simply not tell you what the new password is.
  11. They haven't changed since Going Rogue came out.

The last official update to the System Requirements came WITH the release of Going Rogue.

    From the PlayNC Store site.

From the Support site when searching for System Requirements.

In both cases, those are the same as is listed on the Going Rogue package.

You can compare that to the listed specs on the Architect Edition box. That is the same as what was listed on the City of Villains box and IIRC was what was listed on the original City of Heroes box (can't lay my hands on mine right now and can't find a link). It is possible that the original City of Heroes box had the memory listed as 256 Mb (Minimum) and 512 Mb (Recommended), but the processor and video card entries I believe are the same.

EDIT: I'm not saying that I agree that the listed Specs are accurate. I've spoken to others with a Technical background that don't believe they are accurate either. My own opinion is that, while the game may indeed run at the Minimum System Requirements, if I were forced to play with that hardware setup I would quit the game.

My own opinion is that, while the game may indeed run at the Recommended System Requirement, if I were forced to play with that hardware setup I would quit the game.

My own opinion is that while the Recommended System Requirements for Ultra Mode may actually run some features of Ultra Mode, if I were forced to play with that hardware it would be the minimum I'd play the game on and it would be WITHOUT any Ultra Mode settings enabled.

That's all my opinion and I'm entitled to express it.

You aren't required to agree with my opinion.

Well, you apparently haven't paid much attention to their Facebook page then.

Take a look at the screenshots below:

That shows a post on their Facebook page on July 11 announcing Tweet Code Thursdays. That was posted on Wednesday at the same time as they posted the announcement to the CoH Forums and to Twitter. The posting in the News section on the CoH website is dated July 10, but I didn't see it until the 11th, so it may have been prepared on the 10th but as a hidden article until the 11th.

    and:

That shows a posting on their Facebook page on Friday announcing that they would only be doing one Freedom Friday session but that you could get prizes on Twitter in the meantime. Since them doing it on Friday was a last minute decision (due to the extended maintenance to the PlayNC site going longer than planned) I don't see how they could have announced it any sooner.

It sure looks to me like they used Facebook to promote it.

Your post was just being disingenuous in trying to claim otherwise when ANYONE could plainly see it on their Facebook page.

Seeing the information on the Facebook page doesn't even require having a Facebook account or being logged in to Facebook.

To comment on their Facebook page you have to have a Facebook account, but you don't have to have one simply to read what is posted there.
  13. No one has yet.

Feel free to compose your own and post it when you go through all the messages.

They only did one Freedom Friday session this week instead of 2, so it should be less overall posts than a normal week.
  14. Log into the game and open the Paragon Rewards window.

How many tokens does it show that you have? What tiers are totally filled?

That will give us a better idea as to what you might have to purchase access to (MasterMinds and Controllers are unlocked once Tier 5 is filled, Permanent IO access is unlocked once Tier 7 is filled, etc.). If you had already unlocked and created a Kheldian (Warshade or Peacebringer) or a Soldier of Arachnos (Arachnos Widow or Arachnos Spider) you may still be able to access that character. It's supposed to be a paid unlock, but quite a few people that had previously created them could still play them on their Premium (Free former player) accounts and the Devs left that access.

You can find out what is opened at each Tier of the Paragon RewardsProgram at ParagonWiki.

    Welcome back.

    Gamestop VIP Kit

Well, first I had to research the City of Heroes VIP Starter Kit from Gamestop, since I hadn't heard anything about it. The only VIP Starter Kit I had heard of was from the NCSoft store site.

In any event, yes, you will need to set up a payment first using either a Game Time Card or Credit Card (it may also take PayPal from this page, but I'm not certain). All accounts using either a boxed version of the game (no longer produced but can sometimes be found online or in outlet stores like Big Lots) or the electronic download of the VIP Starter Kit have to set up a payment system even if they only plan to use the included free 30 days.

If you set it up with a Credit Card, it will not charge the card until your free 30 days that come with the Starter Kit ends. If you don't want to get charged, wait a few days after you start playing, go to the Billing page and click Cancel Billing.

You'll still get to continue playing using your free 30 days of VIP time and you'll be able to continue as a Premium player (Free account) after that 30 days has passed(note that there are a lot of restrictions on Free accounts), but it will not charge the credit card.

If you decide to continue playing you'll need to either have a credit card on file set up for billing (possibly using PayPal, but I'm not certain here either) or use a game time card each month.

Some people use pre-paid Visa cards from Wal-Mart or similar if they don't have access to Game Time cards and don't have a credit card.

My recommendation if you aren't sure you are going to stay would be to NOT create a character using one of the Archetypes that will be locked if you go Premium. This means don't make a Praetorian (I wouldn't recommend this for a new player anyway), a MasterMind or a Controller.

A really good resource for questions about the game is ParagonWiki and you can access it using either of the following addresses:

    http://wiki.cohtitan.com

    http://www.paragonwiki.com

Those take you to the same site, but use different names since they started as two different sites. There are several player tools and resources at the Titan Network using the address http://www.cohtitan.com

And of course, the players here on the forums are very helpful. There is also a Help channel available to ask question in once you get into the game and most of the people there are friendly (but some can be jerks, just like anywhere else in life).

    Welcome to the game.
  16. Glad you were able to get it resolved. Enjoy the game.

If they don't have Invention access they won't get the drops for Inventions.

So that argument doesn't hold water.

Those two lines seem to contradict each other.

Or maybe I'm not reading something right.

Found it finally on the Twitter Help pages.

    Quote:
    Current Twitter limits:

The current technical limits for accounts are:
    • Direct Messages: 250 per day.
    • Updates/Tweets: 1,000 per day. The daily update limit is further broken down into smaller limits for semi-hourly intervals. Retweets are counted as updates.
    • Changes to Account Email: 4 per hour.
    • Following (daily): Please note that this is a technical account limit only, and there are additional rules prohibiting aggressive following behavior. Details about following limits and prohibited behavior are on the Follow Limits and Best Practices page. The technical follow limit is 1,000 per day.
    • Following (account-based): Once an account is following 2,000 other users, additional follow attempts are limited by account-specific ratios. The Follow Limits and Best Practices page has more information.

    So, for DM's it's 250/day.

And since you can only send a DM to someone that Follows you, they can't create an alt account to send the DM's from without having to get people to follow THAT account as well just on the off chance they hit the daily limits.
  20. I didn't even know there WAS a limit on how many DM's you can send per day on Twitter.

Apparently there IS such as limit and they reached it.

EDIT: I learned many new things about Twitter today. I will likely put my Tweets back into Protected mode to keep people in my school district from snooping on what I say, but I'll know to open it up if I need to do something like this.
  21. Try disabling all of your extensions in Firefox and see if you can get access to the site.

Some people were reporting problems with extensions keeping them out.

If nothing else, it's worth a try.

Yeah, stupid decision, but many things were in the early days just from lack of foresight and experience.

Regardless of the reason why, the costume codes aren't exclusive with stealth because of a software limitation; it's a design choice. So as Forbin says, it's not that likely to change.
It's been quite a while since I've run the mission that gives the Freakshow Disguise in the Chameleon Suit, but I know it was in the game before the Arachnos disguise. That one also disables Stealth related powers.

I'm thinking it was there at launch or shortly after launch, which was well before the Faultline revamp.

I keep thinking there was another one as well but can't seem to find it on ParagonWiki.

Even if you only play on one server, that's either 36 or 48 characters possibly getting the extra trays.

You may not have all of the slots in use or even purchased, but if you buy the enhancement increase now and use or purchase slots later those character get the extra trays then.

Still quite reasonable when you look at it that way.
