Quote:Wrong. Ultra Mode was never advertised as Going Rogue only. The first we heard of Ultra Mode was at HeroCon and the Devs stated that it would be included in a normal issue release concurrent with or slightly prior to Going Rogue.
Ultra Mode, which was advertised as Going Rogue only, IS coming on Issue 17 as a free update. No preorder required.
Ultra Mode was one of the highly touted parts of Going Rogue at HeroCon, but it was never stated by any of the Dev team as being a GR item only. They were likely hoping to have it out before GR, but not being sure of how schedules would work out that far in advance weren't ready (or allowed by Marketing) to say specifically when it would come out. -
Same here, but when the issue arises I COPY the updater to the desktop, run it, then delete it afterward.
No muss, no fuss, no bother. -
Take it for what you will. While the ATI logo has been plastered all over many of the webpages and several of the prizes at HeroCon were ATI cards, there was also a heavy nVidia representation with their 3d vision or whatever they are calling it.
We had an Agent Ruby that was supposed to be an ATI rep at one time, but the only thing I ever saw come of that was a costume contest.
Since we know GR won't launch until July, I'd wait until I17 hits open beta (or if you are lucky and get into the closed beta) and check the reports from various people using different cards and configurations, then make the decision.
For myself, I'm waiting to see how my 1 Gig HD 4850 fares during I17 Closed or Open beta since the rig is less than a year old. If it's sliding too far down on the UM looks, I'll likely upgrade to a 5xxx model. -
Strange. I was on my Windows 7 64-bit install that also has MSE installed all weekend and didn't have a bit of trouble.
And before you say it Pum, yes, I was teamed Thursday and Friday. Mostly with DP users so there was knockback galore.
Or knockdown. Can't recall which effect is used if knockback isn't slotted for. -

Nice catch Father Xmas. I didn't even notice that with the memory and the OS version.
My eyes sort of glaze over when I look at a DXDiag anymore, I've gotten too used to the formatting of CoH Helper. -
Well, looking at the site, the cheapest 5750 is around $180 USD. It's simple to use google to find currency converters.
The cheapest 250 I find is a GTS250 for around $151 USD. -
DXDiag is rather unwieldy to try to interpret, and doesn't give all the information we need.
Post a log from running CoH Helper as it will give information about your system and the CoH installation and settings.
Then, post a log from running HijackThis. This will show what else is going on on your computer while you are playing CoH.
One quick question, did you download the video drivers from ATI/AMD or did you get them through Windows Updates? If you got them through Windows Updates they are crippled versions of the drivers that don't handle OpenGL correctly. -
About the uninstalling and reinstalling of the video drivers, where are you getting the drivers from? Are you getting them from Dell? Intel? Windows Updates?
Also, your C: and D: drives are extremely low on disk space. Windows starts having problems with some functions when you get below ~20% free space. Since CoH is on the C: drive, it's especially significant.

Quote:I wasn't confused on anything. Red Valkyrja commented that she had done a Ctrl-F on the post you linked to and could find no instances of "day one". Your post right after that quoted that part of her post and you saidyour right there is some confusion first my part i was not sure why he was talking about day one but that makes sense. As far as his confusion i was not talking about the main CB for going rogue but.
The CB for Demon Summoning which will be the next time that Loyalty prog/Vet Badge/Comicon status might get you a chance to play with demon summoning. as far as that yes demon summoning is part of going rogue and is part of CB going rogue as duel pistols did here http://boards.cityofheroes.com//showthread.php?t=208779 .
unless they changed it and it no longer part of going rogue.........but yea i can see why he though that i was talking as if I17 is part of GR but it is not.
Quote:day one, you lost me?
Don't try to attribute confusion to me when there was none on my part. The only confusion was yours, evidenced by the wording in that post. -
Since all we've gotten so far is generalities on video cards, it's still unknown.

Without any actual useful information, anything that people come up with would likely just be educated guesses. In some cases, possibly not-so-educated guesses. -
The problem is something in your PC, or everyone would be having the problems.
Since you haven't given any technical information, it's rather difficult to determine what the problem may be.

The forum doesn't allow attachments, so no, we can't see the GameAdvisor. Also, it's useful only for the QA dept., possibly CS, and the Devs.

Not having any problems logging in to either of my Dual Pistols characters on Justice in either Vista 64-bit or Windows 7 64-bit.
Sounds like you have some character corruption. -

If you did not download and install drivers and only let Windows 7 detect and download drivers, that's a problem. The default drivers are crippled for OpenGL applications. I'm not sure how they do on DirectX games.
Not sure what video card you have, but there was a revision of nVidia drivers that caused a similar issue, but I can't recall what version it was and I'm too lazy to search right now.
Most video cards are shipping with drivers that are at least 3 months out of date, sometimes much more than that. Not just video cards, but almost all hardware. -
Anything related to ATI Display or Video. What else besides these do you have?
-
Not just a few standard sizes. Yes, for most stock cases there is a standard sizing of the power supplies, whether it's a Full Tower, Mini Tower, Micro Tower or what have you. The only general exception to that is power supplies for some of the Small Form Factor computers.
The real problems come when you are looking at OEM computer such as Dell, Gateway, HP, etc. Many of them have a proprietary power supply that is completely non-standard and is made to fit only specific models of their computers. They've been known to change Power Supply size specs between one model and the next, just so that you can't easily change it out unless you buy it from them. -
The first thing I notice is you've got basically no free space on your Hard Drives. Windows gets wonky with less than 20% of your Hard Drive space free. Remember, Windows was written at a time when Hard Drives were relatively small, so rather that look at the amount of Free Space in Bytes and decide if it had enough free space, many Windows routines were written to look at the % of Free Space in relation to the size of the drive. So, even if you have a 1 TB drive with 10% free space (100 GB free) Windows only looks at the percentage and several of those routines balk or have a problem since they are only seeing that the percentage is lower than what it likes. Yes, it's coding that needs to change, but Microsoft has nothing really pushing it to change this type of old coding. Meanwhile, it can cause issues.
Free up some space on C:, or better yet copy your game directory to a folder on your F: drive named CoHBackup, uninstall the game, start the reinstall and point it at F:\CoH and let it start to install then cancel it. At that point, copy the files from the F:\CoHBackup folder to the F:\CoH folder. You can then delete the F:\CoHBackup folder, and you'll have the game on a drive with enough free space. If your C: drive is still under 20%, it may still cause problems.
Another thing is that I see you have the 196.75 nVidia drivers. I've seen other problems where all they seemingly had in common was these drivers, and the problems only started after the patch on Tuesday so there "may" be some compatibility issues with those drivers and CoH. It might be worth it to go back to a previous driver version to see if that helps any.
A HiJackThis log would be helpful in seeing what else is going on with your system. There may be something that would show in that log that might point out the problem. -
Quote:I don't believe I said I was asking that concerning myself, alright?
Ok, let me rephrase that slightly.
Only the red names know why any particular player is or isn't in a beta.
And they don't tell us the criteria they are using most of the time. Yes, we know "some" of the criteria that will be used for GR Beta access (60+ month vets, Loyalty Program, GR Pre-Order, HeroCon signups) but not all of them. -
I'm not sure where you are getting your driver updates for your video card, but this is certainly not the newest driver.
I find a Legacy Driver package dated 2/24/2010 on the ATI site. The older cards, like yours, have gone to the Legacy Driver package. I'd recommend using Option 1, the full suite download.
The best instructions I've seen to update ATI graphics drivers is as follows:
Download the drivers linked to above, but don't install them. Download and install DriverSweeper but don't run it yet. Uninstall the video card and it's drivers, the Catalyst Control Center and any other ATI Display software. Reboot into Safe Mode. Run DriverSweeper and let it remove any ATI Display remnants it finds. Reboot into normal mode but cancel any New Hardware wizards that come up. Install the driver package downloaded earlier.
Now, once that is done, there are a few settings you will likely want to change because they are going to be problematic until Issue 17 and Ultra Mode. In the ingame graphics settings, turn off Vertical Sync, turn off Anisotropic Filtering, turn off Bloom, turn off Depth of Field, turn off Desaturation Effects, lower the Maximum Particles to 25050.
These settings are from Bill Z Bubba's stickied ATI Issues and Settings Recommendations thread that is stickied in this section of the forums.
HiJackThis log would be helpful as well. -
Both of the CoH Helper logs I've see from people reporting these lockups since the patch are using the 196.75 nVidia drivers. I'd be curious to see if going back to an older driver would fix it.
I saw no problem reports with the 196.21 drivers from January, or with the 195.62 drivers from November.
Download these two sets of drivers but don't install them. Download and install DriverSweeper but don't run it yet. Uninstall the video card from Device Manager and uninstall any nVidia video software (or display software) from Add/Remove Programs. Boot into Safe Mode, run DriverSweeper and have it remove any residual nVidia display stuff. Reboot into normal mode, cancel the Found New Hardware windows that come up and then install the 196.21 drivers you downloaded earlier. Test it out to see if it resolves it. If it does, let us know and stick with those drivers until the issues are fixed. If not, use the same steps but this time install the 195.62 drivers instead. Test those. If it's still not resolved, there is something else going on that I'm not seeing.
Your Roland driver installation appears to be corrupted by the way. That's one of the reasons that the dates show up funky like that one. Since the other driver dates are showing up right, I don't think you are using a Non-US version of Windows.
