  1. Organica, are you using a USB keyboard or a PS/2 keyboard? I've seen some odd reports of problems with USB keyboards and one person's solution was to use an old PS/2 keyboard (the little round connector) using a PS/2 to USB converter.

I keep one around as a spare so that if I have a server acting up and not responding through the KVM switch to either the mouse or keyboard I can plug this in and get control enough to do what I need to do and schedule a restart for after people leave for the day. I keep an old keyboard and mouse plugged into the adapter so that all I have to do is plug it into the USB port on the server and wait for it to be recognized, then all works well.

    Just a thought.

I'm not sure what it would do. I've seen varied results on files from using System Restore so much that I try not to touch it anymore since I can't be certain of what is going to change.

If you decide to reinstall, try this first. Make a copy of your CoH installation folder first, then uninstall the game and reboot. Start the reinstall process but stop it shortly after it asks for the path and starts installing files. I'd give it about a minute to be certain everything is set in the registry.

At that point, once it is stopped, copy the folder you copied earlier and paste it into the installation directory. After all, the main thing you want to change is the registry entries, not the files. This will also save you from the long downloads to get the game patched to the current version.

    Hope that helps.
  3. This may sound like a stupid question, but how are you trying to load into Talos Island?

The Tram, Pocket D, Ouroboros, Base Teleporter, Peregrine Island Ferry, Striga Isles Ferry, Faultline zone gate, Dark Astoria zone gate and Skyway zone gate all put you into different areas of the map, so I'm trying to see if it's a particular location in Talos you can't get into. Obviously, the Mission Teleporter puts you into a different location than anything else as well.

Are those characters stuck still and unable to be logged in? If so, on another character file a /petition using the Stuck option, describe the problem and that you can't log in the characters showing as being in Talos Island on the Character Select screen (give their names) and they should be able to move them to a different zone, likely Atlas Park. You'll at least be able to play those characters at that point instead of them being in Limbo.
  4. Did you file a /bug report in game when this happened? If not, please do so and list as much detail as you can about what you did, what happened, and what else was going on at the time.

If QA can duplicate it reliably, they can send reproduction steps to the Devs so that they can look for a solution.

But, if you don't tell them about the problem and the steps to reproduce it 100% of the time, they can't fix it.

If you don't tell them about it, they don't even know it happens.

    Email down?

It is possible that global was down when you sent the email. I saw a report from someone on Justice last night that globals had gone down and since they don't have to be down long to eat an email, that "could" be what happened.

Well, everyone except Dr. Aeon of course.

    You are correct.
  8. At this point, I'm going to call it a night. I'll check back in the morning when I get up to see if you've posted anything else and will proceed from there.
  9. I would check to make sure it didn't re-enable the AMD External Events Utility service and if it did, set it to Disabled.

After that, try the game and see how it plays.
  10. OK. Try it again using the Integrated/Motherboard option instead as Tex suggested.

If you still get an error, let us know and I'll start looking at things to help you with the Mobility Modder tool.
  11. Since Tex and I gave slightly different instructions on which drivers to download, did you select the Mobility Radeon or the Integrated/Motherboard selection when getting the drivers? Try using the one you didn't use before to see if it gives the same message.

That message makes me think Toshiba may have tweaked the system to keep you from using the official ATI drivers, but I want to be sure first.
  12. Vista and Windows 7 don't always have the Computer icon on the desktop, which is why I listed that method.

I had intended to put the information about the desktop icon, but got sidetracked mid-post.

I know about 4 other ways to get the information but I stick to the simple ones for most people.

    Odd GUI glitch

    So did I.

I saw them earlier in another thread.

That's why I ended with "at last report."

HD 5570 and Cat 10.4 at last report.

    Odd GUI glitch

Have you tried using the /unloadgfx command to see if that will resolve it?
  16. Click the Start button, right-click on Computer then left-click on Properties.

It will list whether it is Windows 7 32-bit or Windows 7 64-bit on that screen. Look in the section headed System for an entry called System Type.

There should also be a sticker somewhere on the bottom of your laptop that lists a Windows Key, it will say whether it's 32-bit or 64-bit, but it's usually difficult to read without shutting down completely to turn it over and lay it down in good lighting.

At least for my old eyes it is.
  17. Sounds like a good reason to upgrade to a newer card and maybe even away from nVidia.

NewEgg lists quite a few AGP video cards using an ATI chipset. You can find them here.

I was surprised to find some relatively modern chipsets there in AGP versions, and the prices aren't as bad as what I thought they'd be.
  18. Okay. I see it as a supported card when I select the Mobility Radeon but it takes me to a different driver page than the Integrated/Motherboard selection does.

I generally only use the Integrated/Motherboard selection when selecting desktop motherboards with onboard graphics such as the Asus M2A-VM we use in our district for some SFF systems.

That's the tool I was going to recommend but didn't want to clog the thread with instructions on using it.

Quick question while you are here. Would it be the Mobility Radeon or the Integrated/Motherboard selection for Kayla's laptop? I can't tell from the Toshiba site if it's the Mobility version or not.
  20. PanDemonium,

Those are the correct drivers for that card, and I see you are running Windows XP from that. Something in your settings is likely causing the problems, but I'm not sure what it might be. Either that, or something other program on your computer is causing the problem. You might try backing off the Ultra Mode settings a bit to see if that helps resolve the problem.

If it doesn't, start a new thread and list the information you've given here and include as much information as you can about your computer (Memory, processor, brand and model if it's an OEM system, etc.).

Also, include a log from running HiJackThis as well. It may give us some insight into what is going on.

Zloth is working on updating the CoH Helper to include the new settings, but it's not ready yet so we'll have to wait on that for now.
  21. Kayla, follow the instructions in the support post in this link except where it says ATI HotKey Poller change it to AMD External Events Utility.

Disabling that should alleviate some of your problems.

Unfortunately, most laptop manufacturers are really bad about updating their drivers, especially video drivers. Some even do some tweaks to keep the official ATI drivers from being installed but you can try download the newest drivers from http://www.ati.com and select Graphics in the Component Category box, select your version of Windows 7 (32-bit or 64-bit, whichever you have) in the Operating System box, Mobility Radeon in the Product Line box, and Mobility Radeon HD 3xxx Series in the Product Model box. That will take you to a page where you can download the 10.4 drivers and hopefully they'll be able to install. If they won't install due to Toshiba tweaks to the system, let us know. Use the instructions here to uninstall the old drivers and install the new ones.

There is a way to modify the files so that they'll install, but it's quite a bit more technically involved and we can handle it easier in PM's so as not to clog up the thread.
  22. Right. Because it doesn't do a range check until after the Staff is drawn.

I used to use that method to be able to run around with the Nem Staff in hand between mobs just so I could get the cool looking cast to Enervating Field on my Rad/Dark Def.

As long as I kept clicking it occaisionally to keep it drawn, it didn't root me when I got a mob into range.
  23. Kayla, are you running Windows 7 on your computer? If you are, they renamed the service to AMD External Events Utility.

Is your computer a laptop or a desktop computer? If it is a desktop computer, what brand and model is it? The more information you can give us about it the more information we'll be able to accurately provide to help you.
  24. I think this IS on Live, not on the Training Room. Unless I'm missing something said outside this thread.
