Your video card driver installation appears to be corrupt. Make sure that you are installing the most recent drivers for your laptop video chipset and I recommend running Driver Sweeper after uninstalling the old drivers and before installing the new drivers.
You also have a lot of programs running in the background that are eating processing power and/or bandwidth (the O4 section of your HiJackThis log). Kill off anything not necessary such as uTorrent, DaemonTools, Adobe Speed Launcher, Google Desktop Search, AmIcoSinglun, PlfSetI, EgisUpdate, mwlDaemon, ArcadeDeluxeAgent, CLMLSvc, PMVService, and ProductReg. -
Quote:Doc Delilah was introduced as a Dev in January, taking over the duties as Publishing Producer from Ghost Falcon. GF has been promoted to Development Producer.A single fix? Also we have an NPC on the community team now?
edit: aww this is in the dev digest...
It was at the same time that they annouced War Witch taking over the day-to-day management of the Design team from Positron and also announced that TheDarkWatcher was moving up and The Television was taking over leading the Programming team. -
I'm merely giving the correct format of the command. Others were giving it as merely -slifbos instead of -slifbos 2
According to Tex's post it appears that it should be working on the Live version.
If it's not working for you, you may want to send a PM to The Television about it. -
Actually, what you need to add to the shortcut is -slifbos 2
The Search feature on these boards is really nice if you learn to use it, this one was extremely simple to find. -
You may also want to list which servers you are talking about.

Please post the output from running CoH Helper into a new reply here.
You may also want to post the output from a HiJackThis log.
Looking at your graphics settings, I'd recommend lowering the World Detail Level to High or Medium and lowering the Max Particle Count to 25050 for now. Also, you may want to try either disabling completely the Ambient Occlusion or lowering the settings a bit. Those should be a good starting point until the logs are posted. -
Sorry, I looked at your CoH Helper again and realized you DO have Ambient Occlusion set to OFF. I saw the Advanced Occlusion settings on YES and the Blur setting but missed the 2 lines between them. Just forget I said anything about that. I must have been tired reading that.
As for AA and AF, that's Anit-Aliasing and Anisotropic Filtering. You have them set to 2x and 16x respectively. Open your Catalyst Control Center and make sure that you have those two set to Application Controlled. Sometimes a setting that is different in the CCC from what the game is set at can cause problems that aren't as apparent.
Even if you don't uninstall SuperAntiSpyware, you can set it so that it doesn't run when Windows starts. There's no problem with multiple sources of spyware protection as I have Spybot and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware installed at all times, and will occasionally install SuperAntiSpyware as a middle step if it's a particularly nasty piece that I'm getting rid of. The three programs target things a little differently, so sometimes one will get rid of pieces the others won't, or I'll need to run one to get rid of some things that are keeping one of the others from working. I just don't let them run while I'm gaming. I want every ounce of CPU, Memory and bandwidth for the game.
I don't even browse the web while playing or listen to music, but I'm rather odd that way. According to some, I'm just rather odd period. -
Paste the results from running CoH Helper and HiJackThis into a new post here.

I'm hoping je_saist can jog my memory here, but I seem to recall a problem with the 5xxx series running both Ambient Occlusion and ... either AA or AF. I just can't recall which it was.
Also, is there are reason you are running two anti-virus programs at the same time? That can generally cause a few problems.
I'd recommend killing off a lot of those background processes as well. The Java Update Scheduler is an easy one to spot as unneeded. I'd also kill off the Log Me In Hamachi stuff, AdAware and SuperAntiSpyware as well. I'd also set the FNPLicensingService.exe Service entry to Manual instead of Automatic. If you set it to Disabled it will just get set back to Automatic when you launch whatever Adobe product you have installed. -
Quote:Wait! Why is pohsyb on the screen again?I am really, really glad you brought this up! It has been a major point of confusion for a lot of people. There is a right way and a wrong way to read the Television. The right way is as follows:
1) begin by assuming/imagining the following text at the beginning of every Television post: "The screen flicks on. It shows an image of the most attractive programmer you have ever seen in your entire life. This guy is a Greek God of cool. You must either be watching some kind of reality show for impossibly gorgeous people or a documentary on one of the world's most brilliant minds (of all time)."
Quote:
2) read whatever I put in my post as though it were in quotes. That's what the intimidatingly beautiful programmer on screen is saying. Try to read a little extra wit and charm into it, because I'd add those if I weren't so busy.
Quote:
3) Finally, finish up with: "The programmer now turns his heart-breaking-ly beautiful gaze directly at you. Please, viewers, do not forsake your friend the Television or berate it with criticism of its role playing. Do not discriminate against the beautiful. No, you should embrace beauty by watching Television and the I17 graphics upgrade in CoH."

First, update your video drivers to the 197.45 drivers currently on the nVidia website.
You "may" want to lower your maximum particles to around 25050 or lower.
If you still have problems post a log from running HiJackThis so that we can see what else is running on your computer that may be causing problems.
In the meantime, don't play a DS or team with them.

Quote:Which is why I clearly stated that it was mostly a joke by mentioning the engine. That really just highlights how poorly optimized the Cryptic engine is. It seems like the old Redside performance issues that never got fixed (but went away due to people upgrading their hardware) have reared their ugly heads again due to the increased graphical load.
The main thing is, people keep trying to compare DirectX games to OpenGL games and it's not even close to being the same thing.
DirectX driver support is WAY ahead of OpenGL driver support. Partially because there are more games written to use DirectX. That alone causes more driver bugs to be identified and they are generally more quickly fixed since those bugs usually affect a larger number of games.
My van runs much faster than my flat-bottomed boat, but if I try to use my van to get to my favorite fishing spot it isn't going to run very well. -
Quote:Afterimage, what video card do you have in your iMac? What version of the OS are you running? If by PTS you mean the test server, then yes, I'm still experiencing lag on the test server: animations not playing, NPC's vanishing and reappearing, etc.
Playing on iMac, in case your fix is only meant for PC's. Was playing a low level defender I created on the test server on Tuesday, logged in just a few minutes ago and ran one mission and some street sweeping. -
Quote:Out of curiosity, how many of those games use OpenGL?
Yah. Even my 260 GTX performs incredibly well on almost every other game that I got and was released recently.
To carry it even further, although it's mostly a joke, how many of those games use the Cryptic engine?
Heck, that companies two newest releases don't even run on the engine this game uses. -
Are your date and time correct? I'm on the store site right now and not getting any security warnings in either IE or Firefox.
Looking at the certificate it shows to be valid from 1/21/2010 to 1/30/2011. -
*peers into crystal ball*
You are running either Windows Vista or Windows 7.
Copy the updater file and paste it to the desktop. Don't create a shortcut on the desktop, actually copy the file and paste it there. Run that copy of the file instead.

Quote:You don't have to know thing one about IO's to ask for help with a build. Go to the appropriate forum, tell them you are looking for help with a build and no nothing about IO's> Give the primary and secondary powersets and if there is a power you absolutely have to have say so, state your preferred travel power for the character but be aware that they may recommend something else. Also, let them know what your playstyle is, mostly PvE, mostly PvP, light PvP, etc.The only problem with my posting a prospective/tentative build is that I have NO idea what enhancements and sets there are, where to put them, or what they do. I would have NO way of posting a prospective build without spending umpteen hours researching and learning the invention system, which is what I DIDN'T want to do in the first place. I joined CoH six years ago specifically because it didn't HAVE that type of time sink in it.
I'm sure you'll get more advice than you know what to do with, all without you knowing anything about IO's. -
Quote:You apparently haven't paid attention to Justice raids. We've had (of late) Monday raids, sometimes a midnight raid on Monday, Wednesday raids, Thursday raids, and other impromptu raids still occur.
Also waiting one day to be able to do Hami isnt really a long waiting period... particularly since its midweek and most Hami raids happen at the weekend anyway.
I believe some other servers also do raids throughout the week as well. -
I was basing the assumption that it was on Live on this post by that user and the follow-up post they made after being informed of the fix on the Test Server seemed to indicate that this was on Live.
But one can never be certan, which is why I asked for clarification. -
Not really. Your system is below the requirements for Ultra Mode.
There are things you can do to improve performance in the game however.
Update your graphics drivers.
Lower the Physics Quality to Medium or Low.
Lower you Maximum Particles to around 10000.
Lower your Shader Detail. -

Nope. No problems at all. On any of the multitude of computers I've accessed the forums with the past few days. Or any of the various versions of browsers.

Quote:The Legacy Driver 10.2 may not have the same isses as the current model 10.2, but I don't have a card old enough to test that on. The most current Legacy Driver before the 10.2 was the 9.11 driver released in November of 2009.I thought the 10.2 had issues with CoX why I didn't update to 10.2. And I already disabled the ATI Hotkey Poller after seeing people had trouble with it in Open Beta.
