You need to look more closely. They are running XP 64-bit so SP2 is the most current for them. There is no SP3 for 64-bit XP. HiJackThis even detects it as Server 2003 since XP 64-bit is built from the Server 2003 codebase, not the XP codebase.

Also, since those drivers all share the same characteristics on the dates I'd suspect it's not a US version of XP 64-bit or they have the date set to a format other than MM/DD/YYYY. That is common in non-US installations and apparently not something that Zloth was able to account for in CoH Helper. Since they stated it's the latest Catalyst driver they could find for XP 64-bit, I'll tend to take their word for that.
  2. I'd have rather had my question answered, but this will make a decent consolation prize for it not being answered.

I'll likely try it out but I'm not sure if I'll keep it. I'm not big on fancy keyboards or mice.
  3. Nope, new character has the Bioluminescent and Organic Armor costume parts. That leaves out one possibility.

As it stands now, the world may never know what was in that update. It's apparently not important enough to warrant patch notes.

The patch may have also been to REMOVE the Mutant Pack from the Training Room server since it has been released for sale.

Of course, that could fall under the Server side fixes that Weatherby Goode mentioned, which would be why there are no patch notes on it.
  5. Exploit fixes aren't generally listed in patch notes.

That's the only explanation I can come up with.

Aside from someone leaving work and forgetting they were supposed to post patch notes or not knowing a patch would be released to the Training Room so they didn't get the patch notes post ready.

    notepad C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

and press enter. find the line(s)HijackThis Reports and delete them.
Save the file as 'hosts' (with qoutes), and reboot.

for vista:simply, exit hijackthis, right click on the hijacthis icon, choose run as administrator

and i have visita and i cant run it as admin..
That bolded part bothers me and makes me think there may be other problems.

Try this. Open the Computer icon, go to your C: drive, open the Trend Micro folder, open the HiJackThis folder. Find the HiJackThis.exe file and try right-clicking directly on the file and selecting Run As Administrator.

If that doesn't work, copy the HiJackThis.exe file and paste it into the same folder. Rename the copy to FoolMe.exe and try the right-click and select Run As Administrator option. Some malware will detect that filename and keep it from running, but renaming it often solves the problem.

Did you get it at PC Cyber as well? And is one of their stores close enough to drive to? If so, take it to them and have them update the BIOS and let them know about the issue so they don't sell it to others that way.
  8. One of the reported problems was that when the EVGA Precision tool polls the fan speed that it causes some cards to stutter. That could be what is happening here. Try shutting down that program entirely to see if that will fix it.

EDIT: One other thing. Are you running multiple monitors on this or just a single monitor?
  9. Amperella, I think that what you are describing is covered in this post already. It contains a link to the discussions on the Training Room site about it as well.

I'm not sure what you want the players to look into for you.

This isn't a forum for official technical support, for that you need to file a /bug report, email support@coh.com or open a ticket on the PlayNC support site.
  10. Aside from outdated graphics drivers, I don't see anything out of the ordinary on the CoH Helper log. Since the newest drivers on the Intel site are from March of 2009, that's not much of a change and likely not enough to make a difference.

Try this to run HiJackThis. Right-click on the shortcut after you install it and select Run As Administrator. If it still gives an error, give us the exact error message or whatever it's saying.
  11. A few questions first.

Are you launching CoH through Steam? Or is Steam just running in the background? If you are launching through the CoH Updater itself, try turning off Steam first to see if that helps.

Also, I see the EVGA Precision utility running. Are you overclocking your video card with this utility? I remember hearing something about one of the video card utilities causing problems but can't recall which it was. If you are overclocking the video card, that could be causing some of the issues. If you aren't overclocking the video card, the utility could be causing problems. My recommendation would be to run the card at stock speeds and turn off the EVGA Precision Utility to see if that helps. Hopefully, someone will come by that remembers what video card utility was causing problems and what the solution was if it was this one.

The only other thing I'd recommend is shutting down a lot of the programs that run at Startup that don't need to be running. Things like the QuickTime task, the Java Update Scheduler, the Adobe Reader Speed Launcher, the HP Software Update Scheduler, the RealPlayer Update scheduler, the EA Games Desktop Client (Core.exe), and the Logitech Vid program at least. I'd also look at setting the Dragon Age Updater service to Manual instead of Automatic. It's possible that when it's checking for updates it is causing problems in CoH.

As for AoC and STO both running fine, those are both DirectX games, not OpenGL as CoH is. Completely different graphics calls, so not really a true comparison. Also, CoH is one of the most system intensive games around. One of the old regulars around here used to use CoH as a stress test on computers he worked on. If they ran CoH stable for several hours, he considered them to be working well. If they had problems, he started checking hardware, software, etc.

Likely somewhere in Canada or that ships to Canada.

Quebec people have to be exceptional, they aren't even allowed to enter our contests like the rest of the Canadians (providing they can do math).
  13. First, post a log from running CoH Helper as it will give information about your system and the CoH installation and settings.

Then, post a log from running HijackThis. This will show what else is going on on your computer while you are playing CoH.
  14. Can you post a log from running HiJackThis as well? That will show us what else is going on while you are playing.

Also, what type of internet connection do you have? DSL, Cable, Satellite, Dial-up, a Wireless ISP, something different?

Are you connecting directly to a modem or going through a router? Are you connected with ethernet, usb, or wireless?

Enabling FSAA alone shouldn't cause issues.

What driver version are you using? What OS? Are you fully up to date on Service Packs and Windows Updates?
  16. Some people have reported using various proxy sites and/or anonymizer sites to mask your location and make the purchasing process easier.

Since I don't use those types of sites, I have no idea what the address of any of them may be.

Perhaps someone that uses them will post here with names of some of them to assist you.
  17. They have in the past (usually BAB) but I haven't seen a Dev or OCR post on it this time. Likely due to them being busy with GR Beta.

Perhaps if someone were to PM theOcho he could pass along a request that these be posted, even if it's only a "OK Ocho, here's the list, you post it" thing.

It's better if someone else tackles that than me.
  18. There shouldn't be any need to update DirectX then but it wouldn't hurt. I think DirectX is only used for Sound as the graphics for the game uses OpenGL.
  19. Are you certain that is the right name? Sometimes the emote name isn't what we think it is or should be.

Ah, good to know. Since my old 9100 Mobility can't use the 10.2's I've not had the opportunity to see that bug.

I'll edit my post to reflect your notation.

It depends on what OS you are using. Windows XP only officially runs DirectX 9. Yes, there are some sites with as kludgy way to install the DirectX 10 files on XP, but I'll stick with 9 on XP. DirectX 9.0c is the most current version on XP. DirectX 10 came with Vista, 10.1 came with Vista SP1. DirectX 11 came with Windows 7 and will run on Vista.

So, depending on what OS you are using and what version of DirectX you currently have, that would be the determining factor in whether or not to upgrade it.
  22. The problem lies with your video card and drivers. That video card is extremely old and with the graphical update that came as part of Issue 17 it is going to have trouble running the game. The driver updates for Legacy cards have pretty much stopped and aren't able to use the new OpenGL calls that are now in the graphics engine.

My recommendation would be to do a clean install of drivers as you may have some corruption of the files. The way to do this is to download and install Driver Sweeper but don't run it yet, download the 9.3.1 or 9.3 legacy drivers but don't install them, uninstall the CCC and any software for the video card in Add/Remove Programs but don't reboot yet. Go to Device Manager and uninstall the drivers for the card from there. Reboot into Windows Safe Mode, cancel any new hardware wizards and run Driver Sweeper. Have it remove any ATI display files or video files it finds except for the 9.3.1 or 9.3 driver installation file you downloaded. Reboot into Windows normally and cancel any New Hardware Wizards that come up. Once everything is stable run the installation file you downloaded to install the 9.3.1 or 9.3 drivers.

Installing another game may or may not show the same problem. It would need to be an OpenGL game that is using a graphics engine using OpenGL 3 calls.

I'm in a similar situation with my laptop since it has an ATI 9100 in it, but at least you can install the newest legacy drivers, I can't even do that. Of course, I haven't used my laptop for anything game related in years except running both accounts on rare occasions when my backup desktop is loaned out (or in use for another function) to take some better screenshots. I simply use the laptop to load in the character I want to take screenies of and set up the poses. I then use the main desktop to take the screenies with a better video card. Standing in one place uses little to no resources so the old laptop can handle that.

EDITED: Changed 10.2 legacy driver recommendation to 9.3.1 or 9.3 legacy driver due to information provided by je_saist about a bug with the 10.2 legacy driver and CoH.

It would depend. Did you only run it once? If yes, then you didn't get it. You need to run Windows update, install what it Recommends, reboot, run Windows update, install what it Recommends, reboot, rinse, repeat as necessary until there are no updates available. Or you can use the links I provided to quickly install the Service Packs and then run Windows Update later after you've gotten that resolved.

As was pointed out already by Call Me Awesome, your CoH Helper report shows NO service packs installed. None. I wouldn't have gone to the trouble to post the direct links if you had them installed.
