Why don't you go old school and post the IP address to paragonwiki and everywhere else? It should resolve, regardless if there is no domain name...unless you didn't pay your hosting bill...

I've enjoyed the event immensely. Spent some time hunting eochai and jacks on Freedom, banged through the banner events a few times although I haven't faced off against the final GM. Only thing that frustrates me is the werewolves spamming a knockback on my 28 blaster -- if the werewolf gets to me, I'm basically toast.

Quote:"I couldn't help it. It just popped in there..."The "Mystic Aspect" takes the form of a randomly chosen GM of the game when the banners are destroyed. Also this is something new for the event.
Hm, the Mystic Aspect takes a random gigantic form....reminds me of Ghostbusters when they were asked to choose the form Gozer would take. -

I figure this is kind of a low impact, possibly high yield fluff idea that could be good for a new coder: it would be nice to name our bases.
Implementation: Set it within the supergroup settings window. Visible when using a base portal or transporter. From the old school MUD-coding days, it would have a name for general reference and a "phrase" if it were to be referred to in a sentence.
example 1: Name: Fortress of Get-Funky ----- Phrase: the Fortress of Get-Funky
example 2: Name: Serenity ------------------ Phrase: Serenity
Uses: 3 come to mind. First, in a coalition with a large number of groups, a name might go a long way towards explaining the identity of the base (for example, splitting up TP beacons). Second, some people might get the warm fuzzies having their own Fortress of Get-Funky. Third, giving it a name, especially one that can be referenced, makes it another immersive aspect that contacts and enemies can make reference to. "Mal, you owe 3100 prestige for Serenity. Would you like to pay it now?"
Potential issues: The possibility of duplicates in the base list name. Could either force names to be unique or let the coalition members settle it and use underlying unique id's to differentiate the base names.
Anyway, figure it's a small idea that could be fun to have. ( ' : -
I was thinking of "City of Guitar Heroes" the other day after having just bought GH3 and WT on craigslist. For those checking, "Guitar Hero" is taken but variations exist.
I'd like to have a guitar model or 2 for the mace set. ( ' : -
Build up hero supergroup prestige on Freedom and expand the base. Probably add a few new heroes to the roster and make a push to get my katana scrapper to 40. My villains on Virtue probably will not give much love this weekend.

Quote:I too am having a negative prestige issue after base editing. Just upgrade from a Tiny Hidden Base to a Small Hidden Base and as a result, my prestige balance went from about 130,000 down to 50,000. That's fine. But, then I happened to click on the energy terminal room and, although no room was created, my prestige dropped to -50,000 9because the room costs 100,000). So now I'm under water with my base unless I revert it but don't want to do that because I'd like a gm to correct it. *grump*No clue on any of that mess, however new bugs cropping up
Negative prestige biting me in the butt when I clearly have about 200k
Supercomputer not considered a "special" base item, got deleted without prompt. Now I can't put it back.
Btw, this was a bit of a short bump.
Edit: a few minutes later, it seems to ahve fixed itself or a gm intervened without actually interacting with me. -
I'd just like to see the transparency of toons eliminated when you zoom up close, for example when steamy mist is firing. ( ' :

New powersets -- twin pistols/gun-fu, staff melee, chain/whip melee.....
New costume customization -- left/right parts, multiple colors per piece (beyond 2 when applicable), power emanation points....
New Zones -- many already specified: moon, atlantis, rikti homeword, hell, more alternate dimensions, underwater....
Mission Architect 2.0 -- mission layout using placeables, like the base editor, scripting and branching
PvP -- base raids and items of powers revisited. Perhaps offline supergroup members defend the base as npcs.....
A few Zone revamps -- give Perez Park some lover (i street sweep for nostalgia and arcane drops...) -
Quote:Someone sounds bitter about losing their MA farms.... ( ' :What, they weren't allowed to team in MA?
I wonder what all that broadcast chatter was about, then.
Having a lot of players concentrated in a small area like Atlas creates many more grouping and socializing possibilities than having those same players spread out across a bunch of different zones.
Why would it?
The rather draconian changes to custom enemies seems more likely to discourage the participation of story-driven authors than otherwise.
You didn't like MA farms- great. Don't pretend that getting rid of them will usher in some incredible golden age of teaming and authoring. All it did was shuffle players around the game world, it did nothing to change their basic predispositions.
I don't expect a golden age of authoring, but the farm maps should fall to wayside, like wheat from the chafe.
As for teaming, I think teaming outside of MA will only get better -- whether you want to call that a second golden age is up to you. The fact is, not everyone wanted to grind MA farms or even grind radio missions. Crazy, huh? -
Quote:Huh? "...'offended' by broadcast chatter"? I have no clue what that means.I'm afraid I don't quite follow you. I solo'd mostly before AE, and AE was my first real run at grouping and like was mentioned earlier, it was easy and fast to find a group and get going. Now with AE dead, and I do mean dead, and with the great new difficulty slider it sounds like most are off solo'ing again, me included. I'm not sure who this makes happy, unless you were one of the people "offended" by the broadcast chatter in Atlas. /shrug.
I'm a PUG player -- always have been and had usually avoided AE. Grouping outside of AE was tougher but not impossible. From the likes of it, sounds like you grinded the same missions over and over again in AE with you group, regardless of what the story was. I'm hoping now that that inceitive is gone, we'll get some higher quality player made arcs that aren't rated highly because it was a farm. -
Looks like it fixed itself eventually.
I didn't bother rebooting but restarted the patcher a few times, eventually verifying all files. it did this and came back fine (as in leaving me at *.5T2). Then I gave it a 5 minute rest and restarted the patcher again and it reported it was fixing files. Now it is reverting back to *.4T2 -
So did the client version revert back?
-
Directly, the QoL changes have been kind of nice but not earth-shattering. I thinkered in the new character creator checking out various combinations but wasn't motivated to alter anything.
Indirectly, I think the issue has been phenomenal given how happy it's made so many players, getting them out of AE and interested in playing with others. This makes for more grouping opportunities and socializing. Hopefully the quantity of QUALITY AE missions arcs improves. I'd almost like to see a reset of the ratings to reflect less bias.
One other note, after tripping the 51 mark and getting all the arachnos helmets, I was sparked to think about a few heroes who will be going rogue -- looking forward to it. -
At least it will get people out of AE ( ' ;
-
Until the MA implements some sort of placeable layouts, at least akin to the base editor, and a more sophsiticated scripting system (even a simple version of NWN) this seems a bit meh.
Otherwise, I guess it's good PR to attract potential new gamers but I don't expect high profile DC or Marvel folks contributing a whole lot either..... -
Quote:Again, just optional in the zones not exclusively designated pvp ( ' :I suspect that this won't happen as PS/NC want to maximise sales of GR.
In general, people playing CoX don't want any-zone PvP or there'd be much greater support/call-for it now. And I suspect that there's still a lot of people who came to CoX partly attracted by the lack of PvP.
Personally I suspect that even though CoX has (iirc) an older, more mature playerbase than many games it would still lead to too much griefing (why u no fight me n00b). -
Quote:I think more people could be surprised if we had a translation ( ' ;New answer for me:
Over the weekend, I was very surprised to snag the name Vieux Carre on Virtue. She is a dual blades/willpower brute who hails from New Orleans and dresses in Mardi Gras colors.

I don't think switching would be restricted to just Praetoria (I always want to say Petoria ; ' ) If anything, the Rogue Isles will see more life if younglings switch early, tempted by the Widows.
What would be REALLLLY nice is if we see the equivalent of the TEF (Temporary Enemy Flag from Star Wars Galaxies*) implemented and thus allow optional PVP in the zones. Yes, hero powers will be available in the RI as a villain, but if actual heroes can go to RI (and vice versa), then we can start seeing some intense fun in the game.
*Regarding TEF. in SWG you could set a flag if you were interested in PVP. In addition, for people like Jedi who revealed their lightsaber or powers, they got a TEF which means that anyone could attack them. Something akin to optional pvp in the zones would be sweeeeeeet.
Okay, back to reality. My alter-ego must run the push-mower over the lawn. -
