I like these ideas. We'd have to have a protracted, staggering, over-the-top death scene customizable death emote as well. Sure, the animation would run long but it would be worth it ( ' :

Someone somewhere mentioned using EVGA's precision software to control fan speeds (it's meant for overclocking but part of its functionality is controlling the fan). I installed it about a week ago and, for only when I play CoH, I put the fan on manual control and turn it up on my 8800gt -- haven't seen my "display driver stopped working" message since, so things look promising at least.
-
good to know, my "display driver has stopped responding" issue has increased significantly.

More importantly, do they have boyfriends talking off to the side? ( ' ;

Man, all these people playing now means I have to wait in a queue...Freedom at 140, Virtue at 260ish as of 10pm EST. Stupid GR expansion.... ( ' ;
-
as of 10pm EST, Freedom's queue is 140, Virtue's is 267....

Thanks so much for the hard work you've put into the hero designer. Best of luck to you!

Quote:Veterans got in mid june I think -- that was my first invite, on 6/17Poorest Ad gimmick EVAR!!
They announced the loyalty program waves, but no vet waves or pre-purchace waves?
Guess this is the story of..."Buyer Beware"
I learned my lesson, won't pre-order from Paragon Studios again unless they promise or guarantee access into beta like Cryptic did with CoV, least I recieved a pre-order box that was a sign of their promise...all I have looking forward is aug 17 to come closer in 2 weeks
Loyalty got in about a month later -- my loyalty invite came on 7/22.
And for pre-order people -- I'm not sure as I didn't bother with that. I figured best buy was going to offer up Going Rogue for 29.99 as it usually gives a 10 dollar discount to games during release week and I didn't see a point of paying a premium for early access to stuff I'm getting anyway.
*shrug* "poorest ad gimmick 'Evar'"? Not really. -
*Streetsweeping in a team in Perez Park was a great way to make xp. (I miss this)
*When the invention system went live, streetsweeping Hellions in Perez Park was a great way to farm magic salvage for inf at earlier levels.
*Patrol Missions forced you to run around a big circle on outdoor maps and click the yellow call boxes (yes, they had a purpose!). Often one would pop an ambush AND people would broadcast about killsteaing if someone "helped" out. -
My 50 Scrapper, Slickhawk, is destined to fall.
My new SoA is destined to redeem herself. -
With Ninja Run and City Traveler, you peeps should save those codes for the new players ( ' ;

Nice work. I have some ideas but no clue where to begin to tackle any sort of machinima. keep up the great work.

Apparently the time was up and she opted for SWG. We did get 15 votes in about an hour though which was good. Perhaps right as Going Rogue hits we'll be able to do it again.
Edit-- it is a pretty neat concept though, reader voting dictates just about everything. http://www.massively.com/2010/07/07/...way/#continued -
So be it. You shall be the fellowship....

Well, since I made the OP, we've gotten 10 votes. Not bad for 30 minutes at 9:30 AM EST...
The reviewer actually owns all of those games so she's played CoX before and, given it is a 6 week commitment, she should hit the clone fights up.
As for catching up with SWG, the Vets had a week's head start to pump up that number. If anything, this can be an interesting exercise to see how alive the community is here ( ' ; -
Massively.com is running a poll for its article series "Choose My Adventure". Basically, readers choose what the reviewer will play for the next 6 weeks, writing articles and posting screenshots.
It's a great way to get visibility for CoX right before GR hits.

I appreciate the hard work but it doesn't do much for me, much like the wedding pack. Passing on this one.

I'm kind of suprised no one brought this up as partial justification for the downturn in Q1.... although one might have expected some spike in q3/q4.

Sadness that Pebbles is taking a break form this thread but I'll still toss out a few ides.
1.) Having a presence at other conventions as mentioned immediately before this. It doesn't have to be a forum with Q&A but just booth to hand out stuff and show off the game, maybe even demo it. There's ICon in New York, Boston has not only PaxEast but the Boston Comic Convention wrapped up this past weekend as well.
2.) College Campus recruiting in major cities. Rather than just having a street team, target college-age students. In major cities, you can hire people for a few days at a time to canvas multiple major schools in a concentrated area (Boston, New York, Denver, San Diego, Seattle, Chicago...)
3.) Ramping up advertising around other Superhero Events. This summer we have Kick-***, Iron Man 2, Jonah Hex.... We should be taking advantage of that raised awareness
4.) Work on an advertising exchange between other websites, electronic magazines and publisher like massively, ign, the escapist, g4tv and SyFY: Eyeballs on our billboards versus eyeballs on banners/pages.
5.) Shameless celebrity viral marketing. Send free copies of the game and and 1 year of subtime to the geekier celebrities out there: Robin Williams, Nicolas Cage, Nathan Fillion and the like. -
Quote:See, I think this mindset that one of the head honchos has to be at every convention is...limiting.Showing up for more conventions would be neat. I'd like for us to be more outgoing. Pax East is a good example of working harder to meet the fans. As another poster pointed out, conventions can be pretty tough to manage.
For example, we only have one Positron. Should we have him go to every single convention during peak season? He might like that. I'm sure you guys would. But what happens when we need him to work on XXX XXXXXXX XXXXXX, especially *** *********** that we haven't even announced? How would you feel when you found out that Positron is going to every convention BUT yours....and you get....brr....Castle instead?
Then there's the fact that alas, I do not have demonic henchmen at my beck and call to do my bidding. Although I could when Issue 17 goes live, if I prepurchase City of Heroes® Going Rogue . (See what I did there?) We're not infinite or omnipresent, but I think we do a better job than some folks 10 times oure size. And it's only going to get better.
Going Rogue is something I'm very proud of, and I want everyone, from all of you to Joe Bob Stranger in Iowa to play it. This means as all of you pointed out, we have to get in everyone's faces. We will do our best to do so, but if we can't, it doesn't mean you're left out in the cold.
Apparently, next week is the 6th Year Anniversary, and I have it on good authority that there may be an interesting announcement or two. Secondly, if we went to Boston for the first time this year, what do you guys think we'll do the rest of the year? It's not even halfway over.
If you're trying to raise awareness of the game, all you need is a booth and a few laptops to run the game and let people play. Have a few people there to hand out free trial codes and some free unique items (like the costume codes) that people can put in their bag and look at when they get home could do wonders.
A major convention (29 years running) in Long Island, New York is I-Con. It's always held at SUNY Stony Brook and, this year, happened to be the same weekend as PAX East. Sending the big guys to Pax for a convention that a large contingent of your playerbase would be at is a no brainer but renting a few tables at the dealer room at I-Con to show off the game could do wonders for pulling new people in. -
Quote:So pants are strictly optional in the office, or just on Fridays?I'll be honest. I love reading posts where folks think War Witch or Positron cower before me.
Do you honestly think I can rein in War Witch? She's awesome. I wear a button-down t-shirt. There is no comparison.
Welcome! ( ' : -
Quote:That's a brilliant family guy clip!for some reason reading that last line brought this to mind.
Anyway before you mak the smooth moves suggested here you might want to make sure she isn't already involved ^^
But otherwise, go for it cassanova! -
So, I wasn't able to make it as it was anniversary weekend with my gf. Did everyone just mix it up or were there tables set up for the various servers just to act as icebreakers? What happened? ( ' :
