  1. I'll be running a Numina Tf today, Tuesday, at 9pm EST. I'll be on as Ball Hawk, a SJ/Shield Brute. PM me in game or be in FF around that time.

There's lots of hunting and we get to fight Jurassik, so come on out.

  2. I'll be running a Manticore TF today at 6pm EST for those interested. I'll be on as Ball Hawk, a SJ/Shield Brute. Send me a pm in-game or be in Brickstown.

If we have it, we'll stealth when possible.

  3. I *think* this should be directed at Dink,

Thank you for the Female SciFI 1 boot. There are lots of costume parts I like, but I've always wanted something a bit more utilitarian for some of my female heroes. SciFI 1 boot in particular fits that bill as a sharp, modern looking piece and has become the goto boot for most female costumes because of its versatility. There were a number of pieces I liked in the Retro Sci-FI costume set, but that really was the kicker that made me purchase it.

    Awesome work ( ' :
  4. I wanted to like this show, but the lead actress and the writing of her part really is just too irksome.

    TiVO season pass cancelled.
  5. To whoever is responsible,

You had to have worked on the game during pre-release, but I loved the powers' sound effects, most notably fire blast, fire manipulation and energy melee. For me, the joy of city of heroes lies in its atmostphere and immersion factor, which the sound effects contributed tremendously towards. 8 years later, lighting up a fire power generates this whoosh of sound and still excites me like no other game. Likewise, the pyuhpyuh of a 1-2 energy punch combo (with pnnk pom-poms!) gets me in a tanking mood -- I hear that sound outside of the game when I daydream. I hope I won't have to miss these things come December 1st, but I know I will.

Thank you for the great work and dedication!
  6. Be a letter-writer!

There have been plenty of "you guys are great" and thank you threads, but it's about time to call out some people, if you know who they are, and tell them the things you really enjoyed, whether it be a piece of music, a costume piece, or mission text. I'd like this to be a spot where they can share with each other and say "did you see how much they loved x" while is lasts (hence 1.0).

Please note, past or present includes Paragon Studios and the original Cryptic Studios. Also, "dev" is really a collective term for everyone who worked on behalf of the game, including community managers. Make sure to throw out some love to those that departed earlier-on like CuppaJo, Avatea and BABs (as well as Jack).

    Thread Guidelines.
    1. Please, no backhanded compliments.
    2. Please be specific whenever possible -- we're highlighting individual work.
    3. If you don't know who is responsible, just start with a "Whoever was responsible".
    4. Please stick to one compliment per post -- that post should be about that person.
    5. Post as much as you like, but please do not post back to back --give others a chance to write something too ( ' :

    Have fun and thank you!

    Just Curious...

  9. I have a sneaking suspicion that Swift Sky will not be your last alt, given there are 65 days left.... ( ' ; I definitely like the first pic, great use of the superpack parts.

Seems like it's still working (points and tokens every month).

This means that with a week or so to go in Nov I can buy Staff Fighting.
That's a nice little bone to throw the VIPs, assuming it will continue to work, although I don't see a reason to turn the switch off again.

I did notice just now that I got my token -- not sure when it happened though.

I'm sure if even a thousand CoX players go over, that will do wonders for their community.
  13. The original X-com was/still is a wonderful game. It sets a great mood with its musical score and the way information unfolded in ufopedia....then comes the first night-time terror attack, usually in Buenos Aires....

Grab it on steam for a cheap price and play away!

I never said so and that was not the intention of my statment. I think rallies have taken place on most of the other servers too -- Virtue and Freedom just happen to appear to be the most impactful and get the most "press" after the fact because they typically have the most people.

Running on individual servers enables the cause to raise further awareness and pick up those players that would not otherwise be aware. I happen to think it would be counter-productive to not leverage (or break up) existing server communities with the notion of migrating people to beta for the hypothetical reasons above. CoH is ultimately an aggregate of players on all servers -- I think we'd lose people much faster, notably those that don't move to beta, than if we did just stay the courseb (at least, for now). That's just my opinion, though.

Edit -- I'll throw in that we really should have server wide channels with MOTDs to pass information along, assuming we don't already. If we do, then I'm ignorant of them.
  15. Finally watched the pilot last night -- I'm willing to watch another episode.

It reminds me a lot of Jericho (which I do recommend), particularly what appears to be the conspiracy plotline. The acting was sort've okay, although the former insurance agent is actually the guy who played Gus Freeman on Breaking Bad -- he was monstrously good -- I expect him to do a lot of the heavy lifting as long as the show runs.

As far as general critiques go, I found the build-up to the mushroom clouds in Jericho to be much more dramatic and moving for setting up the atmosphere than seeing the lights go out and planes drop from the sky in Revolution. I think I will tire of the Katniss knock-off relatively quickly -- I like strong female roles, but there's something about her character which bothers me. Several people brought up logic issues, which I won't necessarily rehash, but I do expect that most people in major cities and suburbs would have died off simply because of the lack of access to food (due to no farms or inability to transport food quickly enough) -- i.e., I don't expect to see many people living in their old neighborhoods, especially with the makeshift gardens we saw in the opener.

I would think that in 15 years, an old style printing press and book reproduction would be up and rolling.. Although not demonstrated, the public libraries (and big box book stores) would be gold mines for farming, blacksmithing, and medicine.
  16. Not everyone lives on these forums by a long shot. Running them on individual servers raises awareness of the in-game community.

  18. Aside from the many reasons mentioned above, I think it's the superhero mentality -- most people playing want to be heroes and just help out. Sure, there are some Captain Hammers out there, but in general, it's a pretty nice group of people playing.

I don't want my stupid pocket change back, I just want City of Heroes. Arg! Those assclowns.
Exactly. I just picked up staff, water blast, and nature affinity this evening.
