Quote:Logic is not your strong suit, I take it?It's about as close as I can get.
Subscription = Allowed to play the game
GR = Incarnate System (effectively)
Pre I21:
Subscription = Had to be paid
GR: Bought = Incarnates
I21:
Subscription = Free or Subbed
GR = Now free
People who had GR pre-I21 paid for it. Irrelevant of people who join after I21, those who DID pay should have access. They paid for something, and that is now apparently being taken away. That is not 'expecting everything for free', that is something they have already paid for in a one off payment being taken away. That is not on.
Quote:There have always been 2 requirements for access to Incarnates. Having Going Rogue and subscribing.
Before Freedom, you did not have access to Incarnates if you subscribed, but did not buy Going Rogue. Conversely, if you bought Going Rogue, but did not subscribe, then you did not have access to Incarnates (or anything else).
Given that in the Freedom model you get Going Rogue access for free when you subscribe, it appears that subscribing is the only requirement, but the two requirements still stand. Therefore, owning Going Rogue, but not subscribing, means you do not have access to Incarnates (but do have access to other stuff!)
Now, do I agree with this? Not really, because of the marketing snafu that was postponing Incarnates, but that is the way it is.
Pre-I-21 Incarnates = Subscription + Going Rogue
Post I-21 Incarnates = Subscription (due to Going Rogue being included) -

Per Positron:Hey everyone,
I know its been common knowledge for a while that the initial phase of the Incarnate system would be available in City of Heroes: Going Rogue. As you know, Ive been spearheading the End-Game system for City of Heroes, to give players a lot of what theyve been asking for: more powers, greater customization, more epic battles, and most of all, more content to do with their Level 50s.
That last point was something that we got great feedback on in the GR Closed Beta. Even though it was just a sneak peak, the Alpha Slot doesnt benefit the player in a way that we had envisioned it would. Because of this feedback we have decided to act sooner rather than later.
Since Alpha Slot Incarnate Abilities do not exemplar down (and we're not changing that), we find that players end up with Power that has limited use. We recognize that the Alpha Slot experience is something that a lot of you are eagerly awaiting for and we want to make sure that it is awesome, and most of all fun, when we bring the system on-line.
We still want to do an Alpha Slot Sneak Peek, but we want it to happen once more of the system and content are closer to being ready for prime time.
We want to thank everyone who tested and gave their feedback on the Alpha Slot, the drop rates, the costs, and especially how they see the Abilities interacting with their builds, math-wise. Your testing has been invaluable and we have learned a great deal in a short time thanks to you. We now feel that the Alpha Slot and Incarnate Abilities will have a much higher impact when they are ready to be rolled out.
We hope this helps you to understand why weve come to this decision and appreciate your patience while we continue making the Alpha Slot and the rest of the Incarnate System the best that it can be.

Quote:There have always been 2 requirements for access to Incarnates. Having Going Rogue and subscribing.So...you had to have GR to get Incarnates.
...How does that NOT bestow access? That makes less than no sense.
And agreed, people that have bought stuff in the past (i.e. GR) SHOULD keep it. That was what we got told; 'If you have bought something, you will not lose it.' It's a jerk move to go back on that.
Before Freedom, you did not have access to Incarnates if you subscribed, but did not buy Going Rogue. Conversely, if you bought Going Rogue, but did not subscribe, then you did not have access to Incarnates (or anything else).

Quote:Issue 18 was Shades of Grey, which coincided with the Going Rogue release.Actually, incarnates didn't come out with Going Rogue. Going Rogue was a requirement for access to Incarnates (when they were eventually released), it didn't actually bestow access to it.
Issue 19 was Alpha Strike!, which was the release of Incarnate system. -
Quote:Actually, incarnates didn't come out with Going Rogue. Going Rogue was a requirement for access to Incarnates (when they were eventually released), it didn't actually bestow access to it.A friend of mine just came back to the game after it went free and isn't allowed to use the incarnate system after he bought Going Rogue. Correct me if I'm wrong but the Incarnate system was included with Going Rogue, in fact before going F2P, new players HAD to buy Going Rogue to use the Incarnate system. So tell me how is it fair that someone who spent their own money on a service gets that service taken from them just because they aren't paying the 16$ a month. This is clearly just a way to get more money,someone who paid for a service shouldn't be denied .Premium players might as well start a new account, they really aren't gaining much of anything by coming back...

Quote:I'd prefer game time for referrals as well, but then consider this:I am glad there IS an incentive, but I will point out that it is nowhere near as great an incentive as it used to be.
Previously, if you invited back a friend who was not able to play the game at all (and was probably in withdrawal anyway) and they came back paid for a month, you each received 30 days free. So you each received $15 in value (roughly).
Now, if you convince a friend who is already playing the game for nothing, to actually spend money on a one month access to VIP-ness that they could otherwise use for upgrading their premium account instead , then you each receive... what? About $6.25 in value?
If seems like a much harder sell for significantly less benefit to me, but maybe I am missing something.
It is something, which is better than nothing, but I am certainly not Kermit-flailing over it.
in the past, the new subscriber and the referrer got 1 month's time for a total of 30 dollars. If that same system went into place now, it would be 40 dollars because each person gets the equivalent of 400pp for a month's sub too.
My suggestion is to let us buy sub-time through the paragon market, then compensate succesful referrers with 1200 points to buy it. -
Wan to know the ironic thing? I purchased the Barbarian pack the other night and after the transaction completed, it listed out every item acquired in the pack. So, unless this is a system issue, it really should just be pushed up to the description, even if it means a slight recode to search the db for something tagged in the bundle.

Team Spike had a rough go against Katie. I think we did it in....~1:41 with about 17 deaths. I will assume lots of responsibility -- Ferju Teeli is my first and only controller...created 7+ years ago. I dust her off every few months and put on a few levels...the inexperience showed....even my Singularity fled once..... Of course, this means I have to play her more often to earn redemption....

I'll join -- Ferju Teeli, Gravity/FF controller

Agreed -- I filed that in feedback during beta for descriptions of everything, but bundles especially need it.

I have exerted restraint -- my 1750 points still sit there.

Quote:We send collectors to break his digital knee-capsSo, dumb question, what happens if everyone bets on the long shot and he wins? Are you going to be paying out all of the winners from your personal funds?
If so, that's cool. Shoot, you could end up making a lot of influence off of it. With those odds, I'm going to be putting some influence on the guy who's going to be taking Alpha Wolf's money. -
The notion of Galaxy City as another starter area was a good one -- unfortunately, the starting experience was never really depp nor diverse enough to support two huge zones such as that. So, no, I won't really miss Galaxy City. I popped into it for cape missions and to occasionally park a hero in an Arena, but that was about all.

Eh, it was the plan, it wasn't written in stone per Z's post on 7/29.
Frankly, I'd prefer they figure out how to give us our paragon points up front for multi-month commitments. I don't renew again until Feb 2013.... -

Unless you know specifically where the CoV pre-order box came from, snagging the helmets you want will be a crapshoot.

Quote:Because it was exclusive (.....unless you bought the hero kit ; ' )I just want the bleeping power slide, nothing else.
Considering other pre orders became vet rewards why can we still not get power slide?
Quote:I'm not objecting to making it available again but if I had to guess why it hasn't been released I'd say because it was specifically intended to only be a part of the collector's edition and they don't want to change it.
I sincerely hope they change their minds tho.
