It's a matter of preference. We know we're not going to hit 100% of the people 100% of the time. What we are doing is keeping track of what sells at what price and in what numbers. This, combined with direct feedback, is helping us develop a sound business strategy moving forward and to more readily anticipate what you guys would like to see offered.
    And, depending on how good your data-mining is, identifies and assigns various consumers into groups by price sensitivity based on behavior rather than postings ( ' ;

Then the targetted marketing begins (as well as a use for that coupon box....).

BTW, Z, will there be any black friday/cyber monday deals? ( ' :
  4. Wanna know the great thing? There's a ridiculous number of people complaining the price is too high.

What the devs read is, "They want this bad" -- it's validation for them and creates opportunity to tinker with the pricing, but they're definitely going to score sales from people at each price tier they eventually go through.

The free market is a wonderful thing.

It's just kind of baffling that people are upset about the *kind* of content. "I DON"T WANT TO BUY THIS. RARGH" is just... beyond me >>

My complaint with the dog is that it's simply overpriced, not just based on what it does but on past precedent (MVAS pet). Regardless of it being the shiny new rig or the first ever dog in paragon City, it's still nothing more than a vanity pet, which we already have a price point for, just like we already had a price point for Auras with the Autumnal path. This is simple economics.

If the market offers something that isn't appealing, I just wait another week. So far the worthwhile offerings have been month to month, I'm not sure where people are getting that every week is supposed to be something big and new and shiny. I mean if you guys really just want to give the company your money then buy points, don't wait for something worthwhile to buy, they'll have your money and you'll have the points to buy the awesome stuff when it comes along. Don't just sit and rage that 'omg there's nothing I want to give you money for this week >:X"
I guess I'll use this post to point out the reasonble (or oppositional....)

    1. It's a vanity pet. Vanity, as you and others have noted. Fluff. People pay $45 more to have a red laptop instead of a black one and that's a tangible good. People pay more for a customized license plate (a vanity plate...)

1a. Vanity, like the party pack in City of Heroes, which has nothing more than a bunch of emotes.

    2. Economics isn't necessarily simple. Price points are all well and good, but it's not unusual for the new shiny to come in at a higher price point initially. All of the big games released this past week are priced higher than just about everything else, but they will begin dropping in price soon enough too.

2a. New innovation usually requires investment which has to be recouped....

2b. Fortunately, early adopters usually aren't very price sensitive and therefore are willing to pay a premium to show off that new chevy camaro, amazon fire.....and vanity dog pet they just got.

    3. The logic every one posts to support the claim that the dog is too expensive is ultimately trumped by the perfect information Paragon and only Paragon has available (and Z keeps referring to).

With that written, going forward market forces will dictate how soon, if ever, the price will drop.

    1. Attacks bad guys on command.
    2. Fears bad guys by barking at them.
    3. Jumps on target and knocks them down.
    4. Takes a leak on target's leg on command.
    5. I can throw a ball/frisbee/cat and it retrieves it.
    6. It can pull my fallen body out of agro range when I get taken down. (Hey Rin Tin Tin could)
    7. Barks at hidden/stealthed enemies and makes them reveal.

Nice 4 leg rig though. Seriously this is like releasing a single passenger car with a top speed of 10 mph when what the customer is looking for is at least a mini-van which will go 65-75 mph and carry a soccer team.
"Proof of Concept" ... excellent ideas for implementation.

  8. I think that first item and description is supposed to be for the Auction House.

  9. Unfrotunately, the description is slightly off....I'm assuming that first one should be the AH license.

  10. I'll be running the Citadel TF at 8pm this evening. I'll hop on a bit before 8 as Cold-play (DP/Cold Blaster) and begin calling for anyone interested. ( ' :

  11. I'll be running a Sister Psyche TF at ~4pm EST. I'll be in IP as Cold-play (DP/Cold blaster) a bit before 4 calling out for interested people.

Which leads me to a point I've made over the years, and to my fellow players, I beg you to get on board and ask for this rather than fight over individual pieces. It is this principle....

For all costume pieces, provide a pre-determined set of textured skins (e.g., spandex/tight, cloth, leather, rubber, rough metal, high shine metal) so that mixing and matching can be done without any fuss.

Honestly, dismissing retro-work, going forward this would be fantastic.

Retro-work would be nice, maybe 1 costume piece per month depending on the time, but at least halting the trend of only pre-tinting one piece would go a long ways. There are a number of places where some new item is pre-tinted and it makes other stuff look flaky. Anyway, multiple variations of new pieces means advertising even more pieces although it's just a texturing -- Gunslinger suddenly goes from 20 pieces to 40 pieces....what a deal!
  16. Samus/Mega-Man tributes would be cool

I don't know what it is specifically, but something seems badly broken about the bug prioritization process. Someone who filters and prioritizes what bugs need to be fixed first is acting as a black hole in relation to what players think are important bugs. I know sometimes players are going to claim the dumbest things ever are world-ending bugs, but interface stuff on this scale seems like a really dumb thing for you guys to have to scramble to fix. I imagine someone was busting their hump yesterday trying to figure out if this could be fixed by this morning, and that totally could have been avoided if this had been prioritized as something the players would surely freak out about.
Yeah, the choice of day was not the best and it's exacerbated a bit by the fact that lots of people have off today as part of a long weekend. We live and learn... ( ' :
  18. When I have the star, I'll announce what to do to get the badge as soon as we zone into the Vahz and Lost areas, before even approaching the bosses. Even though I usually have them already, I do this as a courtesy since it is easy enough and (I think) it sets a positive example of good team leadership that hopefully people take away when they go on to run their own teams later on.

edit: Just to emphasize, I highly recommend this film.

And before you respond about developers prioritizing bugs, bear in mind that this was not the only bug in this release, and while it's not a show-stopper, it - in conjunction with several other rather sever bugs (like bases attacking players?) - was severe enough to have at least delayed the patch.

And I do believe ALL of the severe bugs were reported in beta.

As mentioned previously, it's driven by the release window and code is submitted approximately a week in advance. Unless it was truly a show-stopper, it gets pushed out.

Because this isn't a show-stopper. A show-stopper prevents people from actually getting in/playing the game.

You (and I mean collectively, not just Obsidius) need to appreciate the support and development paradigm. As people submitting requests and issues, we can attach an importance factor ("it's really important to me that this gets fixed!"), but it is up to the developers to ultimately prioritize it based on resources and urgency. What is important to you does not necessarily equate to show-stopping.
  22. So, last night before midnight, I had the 3 toons I made/copied on the test server. This morning it appears that all of my toons from a ~8 week old Freedom image have been restored there....in case this is actually an issue...
