Empty clips is not skippable though right?
Only having one non nuke AoE blows. -
I am surprised such a thing doesn't actually exist.
-

I thought scourge was a non issue for RoA since you mostly use RoA at the start of a fight?
-
Main question i have is whether Snap shot is needed for a clean attack chain.
If yes, I will probably go defender. If not Corruptor. -
Hey superfolks.
I have a Traps/Ice/Force Defender that I have grown bored of (the ice secondary only).
I want to make a new Trapper, and I have settled on Archery since I have never played it.
What is "Better?" Archery/Traps or Traps/Archery?
Something that would help me make my own decision, what is the accepted "Optimal" attack chain ST for archery? -
Quote:Wait it doesn't make sense that the melee AT has less range than the Ranged/melee Hybrid AT?Honestly, I just want them to take a look at:
- Whirling Hands' radius. It doesn't make much sense that the Brute, the melee archetype, has an 8-foot radius on the attack when Dominators have a 15-foot radius.
- Total Focus' animation. Currently, I'm utterly unimpressed with its DPA, especially when compared to the other "hard hitters" ala Knockout Blow.
FUHWHAT? -
You can actually use trops to group mobs FOR aoes.
Place them at the edge of a spawn and the mobs while trying to get into melee will bunch up there.
Wonderful for Dual Blades aoes -
Quote:This is the time to tell them. They really need to stop tweaking this set and fix it from the ground up..
Dimension Shift is crap and they know it... they should add an option for another power in the set like HEAT's and VEAT's have for those people who for some reason like that power.
They still arent addressing the problem with Wormholes excessive and unnecessary knockback and the fact that I get the crap shot out of me because the stun is applied AFTER they go through the wormhole...
Genuis...
PM synapse ONCE. And then, hit the beta(or get someone who is in to do it for you) -
Energy Assault has rather good Single Target and decent AoE.
Don't dismiss it outright. -
Quote:Yeah. I used to be right there with the OP about how "bad" mercs are relative to other MM primaries...You got that right. I played up my Mercs/Traps to 50 and even now still play her because she is A) Fun to play and B) a death machine.
But with IOs the gap is decreased a ton (-def and KB procs are so common) and Mercs is still a Mastermind primary. It can solo +4x8 barely using your secondary faster than a majority of AT combos. -
I think because its alot of work to fix and balance a Mastermind primary...
AND Mercs catch up a great deal via multi proc builds. -
Quote:Are the ticks just slow, or will it never interfere with a Post placate critical?Yup you sure can. At first I thought it's harder but my SJ/Ice has no problem doing Placate + Uppercut. You just need to use it asap.
You can also do Placate + AS. You won't get interrupted but you also don't get critical.
This means Kinetic/Ice is better than I thought. At first I thought CE is interrupting too quick.
Trying to decide whether I will roll one.
EDIT:
Quote:You can also do Placate + AS. You won't get interrupted but you also don't get critical.
AH reading it again, I see, chilling embrace does tick slowly enough to allow an attack that is already queued up to get the false hidden state critical, but not slowly enough to allow an assassin strike.
So that means Dark armor's Oppressive gloom with its faster ticks is still boned.
Thanks for the confirmation Jibako. Saved me from rolling a /Ice to 16 tonight to test it out. -
The "Hidden" state after placate isn't really the same as hide.
We all know toggles are set to suppress during hidden, but do powers like Oppressive gloom and Chilling embrace (What I am specifically looking for) suppress aftera placate?
Can you crit from a placate while Chilling embrace is running? -
Quote:Wasn't this due to the nerf?I still think it should have been called the "critical state" because I said in CoV beta that calling it the hidden state when it doesn't actually have anything to do with stealth would be an indefinite source of confusion. It tended to promote the false belief that Hidden State = Placate or something else strange.
Being in the hidden state is very much like being in the right state to land a combo. In and of itself that's all it is: a flag that says your next attack will do something special. The confusion stems from the fact that the two primary ways to achieve that state is to either let Hide stealth you, or use the Placate power on a target.
In fact that's another endless source of confusion. The Placate power is not synonymous with the placate mez effect. The Placate power hits the target with the placate effect and simultaneously places the caster in the hidden state. The placate *effect* does not automatically place the stalker in the hidden state: using powers that have placate effects other than the actual Placate power does not put you into the hidden state.
So Placate placates and puts you into hidden, but the placate effect doesn't put you into hidden. The Placate power also does not Hide you when it puts you into the hidden state. Hide puts you into hidden and also stealths you, but doesn't placate anything. Overloading the words hide/hidden and placate was not the best idea.
Placate used to actually rehide you back in the day.. or was that only in pvp?
EDIT: Wait so the stalker proc is just a 20% chance the next attack will crit?
That sounds even worse. -
Ranged softcapped Device blaster with Caltrops is win I find.
-
Personally my trapper has no isssues running with fast teams, and honestly usually I am out infront.
My caveat is that I have a softcapped to all positions and types (exepting psi) Traps/Ice with Hasten (70%) + 130% global recharge and T4 Spiritual Alpha. I also have Force of Nature on top of all that, with no crash
(I don't really care for the SO arguements as I don't play the game on SOs.)
I love the power time bomb... Because its a wonderful auto skip power. No grief there!
I can toebomb with both PGT, and Tripmine at will.
I make other support types and even tanks redundant with the ability that traps has to gut the defensive and offensive capabilities of npcs.
What I love about traps is that to use it at its best it takes a bit of "Know how," just like Storm Summoning.
I submit that if you can't keep up with teams on your trapper, you re-roll and make a Dark Miasma, Time Manipulation, or Radiation toon, as I hear they are easier to play. -
Quote:Is your webnade slotted?Yeah, when you figure out a way to immobilize Infernal, Nosferatu or Brukholder, let me know, because I'd really like to know. On my end, they ignore Caltrops almost entirely and just shrug off web grenades. If I'm able to stack maybe five on them at a time, they get stopped, but I can't manage to stop them for more than a fraction of the second every once in a while.

Quote:Anyone who says this does not know how to play traps correctly. This occurred to me as I was reading Samuel Tow's post http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=281056. Traps is fairly useless on teams due to the high placement times etc etc but the one thing it does offer is ForceField Gen for +10% defence. Then I realised time has farsight for +9.38%
I then looked at it more and see a lot of similarities between the sets. Traps has more damage powers but time seems a better rounded set. They both have -def, -reg and -res. The heal power in time is better in time and time has better team buffs.
So.......do you all think bots/time is equal to bots/traps??????
On a side note how do Demons compare as a primary to Bots
END OF STORY. -
I have a Perma Hasten, S/L softcapped Plant/Earth dom.
Do you want me to post the build? -
I don't see why the stalker proc is all that hot...
Random chance of a hidden state...
Not sure How I can capitalize on something I am not sure will happen. -
I was thinking about that too, because I like to suppliment my primaries with the Pool AoEs, but redraw is just Killer on Dual Blades.
I am builidng a DB/Nin right now and I have to say even the redraw from the occasiona Kuji In Rin refresh drives me batty. -
Quote:Poor people have budgetsBy "no budget" do you mean can't afford anything or have no budget limit?
If the stalker changes actually end up as they have been planned, on a top end build you will never need to use either of the first two powers or vengeful slice. Your chain would be Assassin>Ablat>Sweeping>Ablat with some very brief pauses; when build up recharges, make sure to use it before Assassin to get extra combo damage from the Stalker version of Sweep (BU>AS>Ablat).
Anyway, that gives you two attacks you can skip.
I ended up going with all nine attacks, and just moved fly to the 40s.
It should be very exemplar friendly at least. -
Quote:Invlun is actually pretty awesome since its last set of buffs. Why would you want this trash on a stalker? This set has not been good on scrappers since issue 2 when you could go perma-unstoppable and it has not been great on tanks since issue 4. So why would you want this? True enough you could work magic with IOs but you should not need IOs just so its workable.

Looks great to me Janus.
The only thing I would add: Force Feedback +recharge proc in thousand cuts.
Its rather good.
