Is this as good as it sounds?
Perma Hasten, Softcapped Kin Melee/Shield Defense, leveraging both Power Siphon and Against All Odds at the same time?
I searched the forum and I can't find anyone talking about this, so I am worried I am missing something rather important? -
Quote:My new Fm/Ea Brute that I created from the remains of my stalker (Pulled all the IOs out of a Spines/Ninjitsu stalker) gets over 1000 HP every 15 seconds from Energy Drain. So help me understand this. You find a power that heals for virtually nothing more reliable than a power that even with base accuracy only will still hit at least one enemy and heal you for more than 50% of your health?
Concept aside a person requires Conserve Power or Energy Drain to keep their endurance up something is very wrong with their build.
I understand where you are coming from, but even increasing the heal a little more in Energy Drain would make it a lot better power and a lot more useful to someone like me.
I cannot complain at all.
Sorry you people who stick with the stalker AT don't like Energy Drain.
It serves my brute wonderfully.
Did I mention I get combat stealth which is superior to Hide in most cases on a brute too? -
Quote:It's difficult for other people to know what's going on when there are comments on energy aura saying that it's great, while others say that it is terrible. Both have a point though, at least by looking at the power set from their perspective.
On the other hand, I think it is not entirely fair to say that energy aura is not good even if you invest billions on it. In terms of optimization using IO, the problem with defense-based power sets like SR and EA is that their performance is pretty close to its highest point after defense soft-cap is reached. Since EA doesn't offer extra regeneration, nor hit points (outside of overload) to start with, and recharge doesn't boost survival significantly for EA, rare and ultra-rare IOs don't help EA as much as other power sets. Recharge mainly helps on higher dps. Higher hit points and regeneration are good, just that the IO bonuses by themselves are not good enough without something else to stack on. All these just imply that the performance of EA can be improved more efficiently by other means, not by investing many billions on IO (apart from the kinetic combat).
Against a group of mobs I have energy drain down to a 15 second 1000 point HP full endurance return. Because of this I can support 9 toggles, darkest night And run fly if I wanted to...
Recharge sure does increase my survivability. -
Quote:I have a multi billion build but no kinetic combat!not completely...
but having to sink a billion or so into IO's (kinetic combat comes to mind)
and the psi and toxic holes really hinder vs high level mobs
vs your standard s/l mobs you are hard to hurt...
but psi and such just chew you to bits...
(and fear terror hole...)
i've got my build to capped defenses to smash, lethal, energy
45%+
Some thing that I use to patch the psi (and terror) hole is getting 25% ranged defense on top of my standard typed defenses. This is easily supplemented by my team or a small luck.
I can farm Malta with my fm/EA.
Every build has a weakness, and someone has to be the bottom.
But I think the gulf between EA and the rest of the sets is claimed to be on galactic scale, when it is hardly noticeable. -
I own face in that fight with a traps defender. If I can handle those roots, you can handle yours.
-
I am already permahasted, and fully slotted.
I think i will go with repulsion bomb, and just use it as an opener, knock em down and drain the mobs.
Ball lightning is on a pretty short cooldown as it is.
When they allow Anncillary pool recoloring, I will respec. -
Very helpful dante. Thanks.

I am currently working on an Electric/Energy blaster.
The goal is a super high recharge sapper build, and I really want to pick up force of nature/Charged armor.
Now since I can't color charged armor (using Green/Purple Dark Themed powers) I am leaning heavliy toward Force.
Now I want to get another aoe to suppliment Ball Lightning and Short Circuit, and I have been looking at Repusion Bomb.
While it seems decent enough from Mids, I have no experience with this power at all. Is this attack any good. Anyone have any stories they want to share with me why I should, or should not take this power? -
Quote:`Thank you.Rad is only the "Goto" set for AV debuffing because it existed before traps:
Traps can:
Set down 2-3 Acid mortars which stack with eachother: 53.2-79.8% resist debuffing
Use Poison Gas Trap for: -1000% regen perma
Stack Seeker Drones for: 53.2-106.4% damage debuffing
and Pile on -90% recharge
More people need to get this drilled into thier heads.
I got denied a team yesterday on my traps because "traps doesn't debuff."
To many uneducated people in this game.
I would love to see a Rad do some of the things my trapper can, and survive. -
Quote:I wouldnt give up on mace mastery.Yeah I got that, sorry if it came off defensive. Was just trying to explain my thought process. I appreciate all of your help.
The Arachnobot Blaster is thematic.
The combination of Survielance+Venom Grenade+Shatter Armor+ Achilles Heel is fearsome.
Web envelope stacks with WAWG to provide massive -recharge as well.
The combination of the above makes it a breeze to solo AVs. -
I have the the Perma Three Pet Huntsman build myself (just 3 seconds of downtime on the arachnoid blaster).
ITs quite lovely to play. -
I don't farm.
I run story arcs/tips at X8 +2 difficulty.
Huntsman,
Fortunata,
Fire Melee / Energy Aura Brute (This was supposed to suck, but turned out to be a really powerful toon)
Traps/Ice defender (you would be shocked how nasty this toon is solo)
Retired Elec/Ninjitsu stalker (Not worth playing stalkers anymore in light of new raid content)
Retired Spines/Ninjitsus stalker (Not worth playing stalkers anymore in light of new raid content)
Retired Elec/Shield Brute (this toon was so boring to play min maxed) -
Please buff energy aura!
I won't argue against buffing my fantastic toon more -
Quote:Secondaries do not crit.Ouch... when you list it out like that, Stalker's damage does seem quite inferior.
I do agree that sets like Claw and Dual Blade on Scrapper definitely does more damage because of stacking follow-ups.
The one AT that can benefit so much from Shield Charge = Stalker. But wait, Shield can't be invisible... I don't buy that some shield powers don't work well with stalker because they modified Willpower for Stalker. They can do the same with Shield set if they want to. I guess Shield Charge on Stalker is just very un-assassin like.
Also pets don't crit. -
You know I find this thread funny.
When I posted beast run looked like crap in the feedback and teaser threads, I got flammed.
This is apparently what you guys wanted.
Enjoy your ugly slipshod animation. -
After being with this game for 7 years (and still loving it), I am rich and full of hubris.
So I have begun to use my piles of money, and now apply my wealth to concepts that the forums assure me will totally suck and be nigh unplayable and make me break into tears and quit the game.
I was directed to Fire melee (No mitigation but great damage/Aoe) and Energy Armor (No damage boost, hard to keep agro, you will die fighting 40+ content!). To make it even worse I made it a HOVER MELEE. And to Top it off I decided to ensure that I took the FIRE BREATH, and devote 6 slots to it. Because Fire breath is useless in Fire melee!!!!!1111FAIL.
Sadly I have to report that the forums once again seems to have lied to me.
My FM/EA has:
Perma Hasten at 50 (hasten was taken at 49. I ALWAYS TAKE IT AT 49)
SMASH/LETHAL 50%, ENERGY 60%, NEGATVE 46%, FIRE/COLD 50%.
Psi is low, but to make up for this I have 26% ranged defense (1 luck pushes this up to respectable levels notice).
I have 28% Smash/Lethal resistance to fall back on as well.
200%+ Regen
I run 8 toggles+can add darkest night, While running FLY, and never lose endurance.
I also can skip the end crash on overload via careful timing of Energy Drain.
This brute is also a full exemplar complaint build: That is every power is slotted with the correct level IO so that I get the maximum bonuses while exemplaring down. I am soft capped to smash lethal to level 20 or so. This means if I switched to all 50 Ios. I could push those numbers even higher.
I play solo at +1 x8 With bosses on, and I love tackling Malta and Carnie Misisons. I frankly tear them up. I have zero endurance problems. I have never had a problem with HP when I am surrounded by foes since Energy Drain returns SO MUCH HP when at the target cap.
I hit 10 Targets with Fire Breath pretty much every time (Slotted with Ragnarok and a 50 IO range+ Paragon Cardiac its 22.5 feet).
This EA brute which is supposed to be paper has tanked recluse in the STF, and tanked the freedom phalanx on the RSF. Overload+Sturdies or support makes EA in T9 mode the most survivalble brute in the game imo.
I have no problem keeping agro with Fire breath (22.5feet LOLZ) Fire Sword Circle, and Taunt. The fact people say combat Stealth hinders than helps is a lie. Its wonderful.
YES THE 5% BB GUN OF DOOM DOES KILL ME SOMETIMES, THAT THAT IS THE NATURE OF DEFENSE SETS. THIS HAPPENS TO SR TOO.
I Hate that the forums mislead me into rolling this Fire breathing FM/EA expecting delicious failure and anguish, only to have it become the BEST brute I have ever run. Maybe my backround of playing stalkers gave me insight on how to make the most of EA. I dunno. But the set doesn't suck and is quite competative with the rest of the sets.
EDIT: CAVEAT- I have spent ridiculous amounts of imfamy on this toon. Money was no object, multiple PVP IOs 4 purple sets etc. Your mileage will likely vary. -
Spore burst is awesome in the hands of a great player.
People who don't use sleeps effectively really confuse me.
Used in COMBO with your other tools it expands what you can do a great deal. Example: Spore burst+Creepers
Back when I used to run a 205% recharge Plant/psi dom I treasured having Sporeburst as a way to stop unwanted agro and to make difficult groups safer to approach. -
Quote:Dream on. This won't ever happen.Well, you'd have to be under the delusion that Scrappers are filling some role that teams want. I'm pretty sure, whatever role Scrappers fill, Stalkers are in the same boat. They have about as much opportunity with differing flavors. So it's not "nobody needs any role in the first place" but "whatever role you're filling with either is fluff so you have to be overly compensating to even be concerned with fluff".
I'm of this opinion as well. People hark over the AoE advantage, which I'll admit is there, but honestly and truly, it's just bowing at the feet of exploitable enemy AI. AoE is definitely more efficient at taking out multiple foes, but it comes with venomizing so much else in the game. AoE controls, knockback, intangibility, sleeps, hell even single target damage itself.
At this point, I don't really care how balanced it is since if given the same or nearly he AoEs the other melees get, Stalker can outburst them all (so it's only a manner of *getting* them) but I still hope for AI and enemy types that try to counter this cheap tactic. Foes that fly, foes that kite, foes that teleport you around, foes that don't cluster, they're all situations where AoE are only a passing occurrence and *surprise surprise* make DPS less optimal over putting out high damage in fewer attacks.
And the problem with those types of add-ons to the game? Those clinging to their AoE Brutes, min/maxed DPS Scrappers and entitled Tankers will whine because they aren't the stars.
Well, someone's gotta be the background singers every now and again, you know?
Someone will always be sub optimum and then excluded, no matter how small the measure is. Just human nature. -
Quote:Well it worked on me, I just stripped down a min/maxed Spines/ninjitsu build in exchange for a Brute.I wonder if some folks don't think that doing things like this will help get an AT or powerset attention by the devs. If so, I think it's a (significant) overreaction, and mostly serves to screw over players who are actually willing to give the thing in question a whirl.
After what I went through on my Maxed Defense, permahasted stalker (People LAUGHING at the fact that I spent that much in IOs on a stalker!!!), I am never playing the AT again.
Its so nice that on my brute I get ASKED to join TFs/RAIDs instead of begging for a pity spot.
I have an addtional Elec/Ninjitsu simiarlly maxed out, that I am just waiting for an excuse to strip down and delete. -
Quote:I vote EA brute. If you want a somewhat "steamroll" Stalker build, I would go with either Electricity Melee or Spines. I vote Electricity melee because your ST damage is still respectable. Spines' ST damage is just ... slow.
SS/EA
FM/EA
DB/EA
El/EA
You get the stalker playstyle (Superior in one way with combat steatlh) and you get all the benefits of being a Brute.
I just took apart my min maxed Spines/Ninjitsu build in exchange for FM/EA and I love it.
Thinking of taking apart my Elec/Nin minmax build as well, but holding out for a new AT/Powerset combo. -
Made a Nrg/Nrg blaster instead.
-
Now that I have nearly finished my FM/EA brute, I want to try a Peacebringer.
Can anyone give me a Triform Unlimited budget Build to work from? -
Quote:You are leaving out something important.wide area web grenade, primary power for an arachnos soldier crab/bane.
- recharge 30 seconds
- duration 20.12 seconds
- radius 10 feet
web envelope, patron power pool for arachnos soldier crab/bane
- recharge 20 seconds
- duration 20.12 seconds
- radius 15 feet
Just curious why the patron power is better then a primary power? Anyone know.
How much -recharge does each do.
The Bane/Soldier/huntsman version is much more powerful in that respect.
Also costs, animation times should be taken into consideration.
Next time include all the information, and you will see that WAWG is superior. -
Quote:The in-game parties were a joke.
I have *never* complained about an in-game event before, but this one was just unfair.
It was bad enough that the OP read like a costume contest, which was random...that kinda upset a few people who had worked hard on costumes for this "party."
What I found unfair was this:
Freedom had 5 instances of D. Every instance was visisted, I think between all 5 instances there were 12(?) codes handed out.
Several other servers had two instances of D, sometimes three. Most of the servers got the 2nd and 3rd instance visited and codes given out. Victory, Guardian, Triumph, and Protector did not. Everyone in D2 on those servers was told tough luck.
About to log into the one on Virtue, and I bet every instance is hit and every instance has codes fgiven away within it.
I understand that things were very busy and what not, but maybe you should have put some clear rules in place. If you're going to go to every instance of D on three or four servers, then you should make it the same rule for them all, not leave D2 on 4 different servers just hanging. I think it should have been first instance only for all servers, or every instance for all servers.
This is truly the first time I can say that this sort of thing just didn't feel good or right; it felt very unfair.
I was in PD5 on Freedom.
They gave out 9 codes on Freedom.
3 each In PD1-3. 1 in PD4. And A SoL folks in PD5.
Corrected: Virtue got 1 per PD, and Triumph got 3. -
Oh no, I have to wait till the 23rd!
I know! I am going to freeze myself in ice till the 23rd!
