Quote:10 trials should have been enough to take care of a lot of slot opening.
You get 4 threads per astral, possibly 4 astrals per trial (unless you did something wrong and failed). You get some number of % towards your slot.
4*4 = 16, *10 = 160 threads. Thats a whole ton of threads, not including whatever dropped during your trials. Based on that, at 30 threads per slot, you have already opened all 4 of your slots, and have threads left over for components to boot.
I have done 2 on Thursday, 2 on Friday, 2 on Saturday, 1 on Sunday, and I have 1 rare, 1 uncommon. I could have slotted out to have 3 slots instead of two high power slots, but I just wanted my clockworks. And I am 3 trials short of you, and never spent any shards to convert.
I dunno man, I think you burnt yourself out. Why did you do that?
10 Trials was only enough to get my huntsman to 60% of Interface.
I have yet to run a Lambda with it, as people don't seem to run them anymore.
I don't get the XP that people report here. Best I have ever gotten from a Run through is 15%.
I am going to try for Lambda tonight. -
Everyone who is offering Shard/Thread conversion as a viable method for progress are as disingenuous as the devs.
Its not offered as a viable option, but as a bullet point: Look there is another way!
Even though that other way is a massively punative monument to stupidity!
And for the people telling me: Take your time:
Well the Trials are already petering out on virtue. Its getting REALLy hard to get into a lambda run after a week as people have stopped playing it. I haven't really STARTED on my Freedom toon and I am massively worried.
So If I don't man up and put up with repeating these two missions NOW while the rest of the playerbase is Putting up with it, its less and less likely I will ever get slots done.
Things will be even worse come the next slots because we all know they will be using INCARNATE SOULS or something, that will have an even more punative conversion method, and no one will be running the "old" trials any longer.
Most people I know are getting one toon kitted out and then they stop logging in. Its probably what I will do once I finish my mains on Virtue and Freedom. -
Quote:It was a joke.nobody loves healers, people like competent buffers who can also heal. people who can play competent buffers(and debuffers) can also play competent stalkers, and would be sought for trials.
I have no problems getting on trials, but I can't comment on the stalker situation anymore as I don't have any left. -
Quote:Its not the work that I have issue with.I'm loving the trials and the grind, because that's what I find enjoyable in MMOs -- a lot of work for a good payoff. CoH never kept my interest for more than a couple of months out of each year due to the lack of any true endgame, now I'm truly enjoying this game for the longterm for the first time.
Its repeating the same 2 misisons ad infinitum
Quote:1- I have never, EVER recruited a healor for any task. Ever.
2- I have never turned down a stalker for a task. Ever.
3- I would always take a debuffer over a healer, any day. Ever.
Hm. That didn't work so well on the last one. Oh well.
2: My stalkers even tweaked to the nines were rejected more times than I can count.
3: People appreciate any of the buff/debuff ATs more than stalkers in general.
I was kidding anyway: I made a Brute and a Dominator out of the stalker's sets.
I am playing a Traps and a Huntsman as my Incarnate toons. -
Quote:Stalkers are stripped and deleted.qr, if you ran 10 trials on a day this nice, you are very likely alone.
serious answer, well, you likely burned yourself out, im spacing mine out to prevent this, maybe max 6 a weekend, that way it doesnt feel like a job. if you dont practice restraint, then its kind of your own fault.
tonight I didnt even do any trials, just ran with some friends, told some dumb jokes, and stomped redcaps. might run one or 2 later if i feel like it, probably wont. your favorite food would become a chore to eat if you ate it for every meal, same with game content, obsessively grinding will kill your enthusiasm, take it at a comfortable pace, dont feel like you have to keep up with the jonses.
though i gotta ask, was it with your stalker? becasue i remember a few threads(ok, more thana few..a lot more) where you said your stalker would never get teams, i noticed on liberty i have run a few successful lambdas with some stalkers, so i wondered if you noticed similar inclusiveness.
I play HEALZORS now. Everyone loves HEALZORS. -
Quote:DING DING DING.Have you ever met players in this game before? This is par for the course.
I'm guessing it'll be about two weeks (at the outside) before most of the people who really want this stuff will have it and will stop playing these trials because the next Issue will have an entirely new set of salvage, merits, threads, shards, influence, etc., so no one will be interested in this "old" junk. Which is why I don't buy the "this content will always be there" argument. It'll still be in the game, but the mob is going to abandon this stuff as quickly as they took to it and soon it will be quite difficult to find teams to run it because everyone will be off doing the newer trials.
Someone wins the Cupie doll. -
Quote:Solo and conversion method of the Incarnate system is a fools choice.1) Obligatory "Progress in a game is illusory anyway" comment. The only metric of any value in any game is whether you enjoy it. Of second value is whether other people enjoy their time with you. Everything else is just inconsequential bits, inflated egos, and oftentimes bait for guild drama.
2) What were you doing before there were trials? What have you already done? What haven't you?
The trials will always be there for your 50's to explore, and new ones will be added. Heck, you don't even have to alt. Shards convert, shards drop from all content for level 50's now (barring AE), so explore Ouroboros. Explore the tips. explore other zones. You'll get shards and you'll progress, just not as fast. "Fast and bored" works against #1 above. Be just as fast as you find enjoyable, never more.
What would you rather do: Go get some Ice Cream or be at the center of a Nuclear Blast.
Most people would pick the ice cream. -
Quote:But unless I am doing these trials I am not making any effective progress on my characters.I have to ask, are the demanding people paying for your account? If the answer is no, then no one but yourself is forcing you to do them. If the answer is yes, then i have no idea what to tell you.
Seriously, slow down and do some other things to break up the monotany.
If I am not making any progress why log in? -
See the problem is: why should I maintain a subscription t a game I don't enjoy to play anymore.
This was the game I play to avoid buying other games,
It doesn't meet that need anymore due to the "new game" being repeat the same 2 events over and over.
Gunna have to seriously consider my options at this point, as there isn't even another MMO to go to for at least a year. -
Its not that I can't get a team
Its not that I cannot finish a trial (that bug was finally fixed).
I AM making progress...
Its just that I am bored out of my mind repeating the same two bits of content repeatedly.
I haven't even finished the first judgement slot on one character, and I am not having fun doing these trials anymore.
Am I alone in this?
I can't even bear to log into the game because I know all I will be demanded to do is incarnate content, which is just the two same tired boring trials. -
I passed them both in beta, I don't cry about loosing a few times.
But I cannot get in to fail.
I am not talking getting kicked. I mean the Queue fails to even start to load me into trials. Just Queue, POP Fizzle.
Took 8 Attempts but I finally got in one.
There is something very wrong with the queue. -
...Because I cannot GET INTO A TRIAL.
Every time I queue solo or in a preformed league, I get booted and stuck in the queue till I relog.
This is after 6 attempts.
This is freaking ridiculous.
I have tried 2 characters and 2 servers now. -
I have two servers I play on, and 3 50s I care about on each of them:
Server 1
Ranged Fortunata/Soul Mastery
Traps/Ice/Force Defender
Elec/Nrg/Force Blaster
Server 2
Huntsman/Mace Mastery
Fire/EA/Soul Brute
Elec/Earth/Mace Dominator.
I am going to concentrate on 1 per server. Which do you think will be the best choices to work on in terms of benefit, ease of getting on teams etc.
They are all Fully maxed out builds: Softcapped, Permahasted, as much regen/recovery as I could muster.
I just need a push toward one of them each per server. -
This years was really lame.
Sorry guys. -
Quote:Eh, as you know from reading my posts, I played the two stalker primaries that can actually contribute to teams: Elec and Spines. They performed rather well solo and teamed, and the only reason I ditched the AT was due to the stigma that stalkers (rightfully) carry.
To run around to the back of the Cimeroran mob, find the Surgeon half a room away, and feed him his own kidneys before he undoes the hard work of all my teammates who are raining down AoE death upon his comrades.
I just find it "interesting" that a person would actually say they enjoy the gameplay style that a majority of the population of the game reviles.
The single target eliminating, scouter stalker's, who runs ahead/away from his team, really should go the way of the dodo, as far as I am concerned. -
Quote:You realize that surgeon would die in 2 seconds to your teamates AoEs, right?
As a single-target specialist, I have no illusions about being important to the team's overall DPS, and it is that very knowledge that I find liberating. It gives me license to step back, take a deep breath, and take in the big picture. To run around to the back of the Cimeroran mob, find the Surgeon half a room away, and feed him his own kidneys before he undoes the hard work of all my teammates who are raining down AoE death upon his comrades. It's not until after the problem children are eliminated that I slip into full-on Scrapper mode and just start punching and kicking whoever's closest until they stop moving.
What value do you bring to the team again?
I think spending all that INF on a toon that brings little value is a bit crazy.
Unless you are drowning in cash, but then again who am I to tell you how to spend your time/inf. -
Quote:As someone who's tried it several times, I can't endorse this idea.
Unless they've changed it since the last time I was on, the League Queue feature stops adding people to a team, even if they check the "I'm willing to join a raid in progress" button, at 1 more than the minimum to get in. So if you queue for a Lambda (minimum 8, maximum 16), it will launch you into it with 9 people, and never add any to it. And I do not believe that the Lambda Sector raid can be completed by a pick-up group of only 9 people. A carefully chosen team of 9 level 50(+1) people, absolutely, but a randomly selected group of level 50s, that may not even have a tank or a buffer/debuffer? Almost certainly not.
However, people will be repeating these raids a lot; it takes at least 3 of each raid just to get enough XP to unlock the first of its slots, let alone craft anything for it, let alone unlock the 2nd slot. I don't think there'll be a shortage of teams on most servers.
So find out where, on your server, people end up gathering cross-faction to recruit for leagues: it'll probably be RWZ, Pocket D, or Studio 55. I predict that even on the fairly low-pop servers, it won't take you very long to find at least enough people to join a Lambda raid.
(On the lowest population servers, you may have to schedule them, like you probably already have to do for mothership and Hamidon raids.)
I honeslty think the LFG queue is going to massively fail.
I won't be using it unless I am in a Preformed Raid team and Queuing with them.
If I cant do the trials that way, its time to let my sub expire. -

Quote:This is a flat lie. Seriously man I went AFK in that mission on my Dom who didn't have Sos yet, and 30 minutes later i was still standing there.I did the Vincent Ross arc on my Fortunata. Even with all the ridiculous buffs at the end, a couple of the Legacy Chain guys got their earth immobs stacked on me, and I nearly ate pavement due to cascading defense failure. DDR is good stuff, even if you don't need it much of the time.
You made that up. -
Defender is more defensive and can hit better personal recharge numbers. Corruptor does more damage.
I think they are quite balanced against one another in the case of traps.
I personally enjoy my Traps/Ice/Force tank.
The defender will be the cheaper option for softcap, permahasten, in my opinion.
If you want expensive you can get softcap, permahasten AND take Force of nature, which is hard to do on a Corruptor. -

I took cardiac for the ranged boost so this doesn't affect me.

Quote:Are you seriously rolling Fallouts numbers in ther as if its always up?The power set with the highest debuff Potential is Rad. Ease of use is a different question.
Numbers, I will use base numbers. Most of Rad's powers are enhanceable
Debuff
-ToHit 61.25% (RI, and Fallout)
-Def 61.25% (RI and Fallout)
-DMG (all damages) -55% (EF and Fallout)
-Res 80% (EF and Fallout)
-Recharge 75% (LR)
-Movement 75% (-runspeed 425%) (LR)
-Regen 1500% (LR and EMP)
-END 55% (EMP)
__________________________________
Achilles procs can be added to fallout and RI for a potentially extra 40% -Res
RI, Fallout, EMP are enhanceable
Rad is followed closely by Dark as Dark is superior in the -dmg and -to hit categories (we cannot forget that fluffy is a debuffer as well)
For ease of use Cold is probably best but thats up to the player. -
You don't see AXE brutes very often because they are always being chased by women.
