Quote:Can't wait to see your Ice Armor build. I quake at the thought of how much better it will be than my EA one!I have started to level an Ice Armor Stalker and I will provide some reports from the field.
*salutes*
I theorize that I will not have to worry about energy/n energy too much till late game 30-50 up against Arachnos, or needing the perception, so level 28 isn't a long wait. -
Finally I can log in again!
I am looking forward to seeing your Mids Build for your ice armor.
I wonder how well you will be able to shore up your 12.5% base defense toggles and get that magic 30/90 time on Icy Bastion (since you will need to rely on it so heavily due to the lower defense numbers).
It s good that your energy absorbtion has slightly higher numbers as you will need them.... but you will not be able to stack it as much as an EA player can stack Energy Drain because you won't beable to match an EA's level of global recharge....
Disrupt is a steaming pile, we agree on this. -
Best question. Considering the same Attack set, who woule win in a race against +4 X8 Malta?
-
On my Traps/Ice and Traps/Dual Pistols, I use Seeker Drones as a lead in on groups, and keep the debuff up on EBs and AVs at all times.
I never take Time Bomb, its a great gift to Traps players as it is a no questions asked skippable turd of a power.
I use Tripmine for a Purple set, and use it often for fun, and here and there its a wonderful damage/protection tool. Its a must take power on my builds. -
-
Are you guys using a different notation, or are stalker DPS just that pathetic.
Comparing to the common figures given on the scrapper forums, these numbers suck. -
Wow my traps toons are not going to have fun on the Seed of hamidon encounter at all, are they.
-
Quote:You need to go check the stalker numbers. Not so easy to softcap, and that is what the brute numbers would look like.stupid easy to soft-cap to Smash / Lethal / Energy / Neg Energy. As in "Single Origin" easy to soft-cap.
Plus it can also get a tank over 3200 HP with [hoarfrost], as well as a crashless complete-invulnerability T9 with [Hibernate].
On top of that the Tank Ice Armor also has a minus damage component with [chilling embrace], which helps the entire team, not just the Ice Armor.
With [permafrost] or [winters gift 20% slow resistance] Tank Ice Armor can also have 100% resistance to slows.
So, the question is, why would you make anything else? -
I play a KM/EA/Pyre (She a dragon yo) with 97.% global recharge bonus and t4 Spirtual on Live.
What I do solo: AoE everyting to death with double stacked Build up Fire ball, Pyronic and Burst.
What I do Teamed: AoE everyting to death with double stacked Build up Fire ball, Pyronic and Burst.
My new Issue 21 build has 120+ % global recharge bonus. -
As usual threads like this turn into a stalker hate fest.
But they are fine devs! Just fine.
EDIT: I like all ATs. Stalkers are my favorite.
Powersets: AR. AR just doesn't do anything particularlly well.
Just like stalkers right folks? -
Quote:I would love to see you make an Ice Armor build with the recharge and defense my EA build has.Ice's little brother, EA is also typed.
The more I play Ice Armor, the more I am convinced that EA needs major changes, especially that wimpy stun it is slated to receive.
110-125% global recharge and softcap all possible types, with 20% at least to ranged. -
Quote:Yes, very glad I listened to you about the Kin melee issue.I've never joined any Beta test until recently.
This is the first time for me. I was curious to see what a Beta looks like. I was determined to find out if Stalker's Street Justice is a watered down version just because Stalker fans are not voicing their concerns.
I have to say the dev do pay attention to beta testing, but I also want to say if you don't voice your concerns HARD AND LOUD, they may not know what's not working or what's really pissing people off.
We tend to think dev knows everything but from my recent experiences, they actually don't. You need to constantly REMIND them and keep bringing up the issues. You may be surprised by how useful that one Private Message to a dev can do! Believe me. :P
Stalker's SJ may get something due to the lack of Rib Cracker.
Its still missing its BUILD UP! Float text but the functionality has returned. -
Let me apologize in advance for this:
The Kheldian surprize involves tentacles.
Carry on. -
Huge OK-GO fan.
Not a fan of that video though.

Quote:Thanks for mentioning how Chilling embrace interferes with placate.I made a spines/ice stalker to test out the new content. I lvled him up to 7. Then he got bumped to 20 and is now 23.
Chilling Embrace is not the aggro magnet you'd think it is. I was fighting with an Empathy/Beam Gun defender who shed some aggro from me easily after the Alpha with his attacks.
I find myself toggling CE off to placate -> AS. Placate is kinda silly with it on.
It suppressed on its own while in hide. So it can be cued up before engaging the next spawn.
Ice Armor will make a decent Stalker set. Not sure how much heal you need to add to hoarfrost though. Im using it at just 3 recharges. From my experience as a lvl 50 Ice tank, HF was definitely a 6 slot power. On a stalker the hp cap may make more than 4 slots unneeded.
IMO this is something that you really need to experience first hand (or have DA experience) to understand how much it will affect your playstyle.
Ice Armor due to its significantly lower defense numbers relies on chilling embrace for protection, yet chilling embrace interferes with your ability to placate and raise your burst damage. its an interesting trade off for sure.
(People also forget that while leveing the Ice Armor stalker ranged attacks are a much bigger threat due to the lower defense numbers) -
Monsterous Head 6 (Lizard/Dragon with spines)
Rib Spines Shoulders
Monsterous Gloves-Reptile
Reptile Chest,
Monsterous Legs Reptile
Reptile Feet
Organic Armor Tail
Thorns Belt.
Pretty much every stalker I make is a dragon/Reptile thing (because they are all the same character just rerolls). -
Quote:Skipping the aura would be very bad.I seem to be getting Placate crits just fine on KM/IA. What I notice is you lose the defensive aspect of Placate as the aura reaggros mobs pretty quickly.
I've been debating whether to keep the aura in my build. Don't know what I'd take instead that would be worth the trade, and I'd miss it. It's the keystone of the set. Been debating whether to keep Placate in my build as well, but the burst crit, and every other crit it provides, is just too good.
The combo of KM/IA with help from the Fighting Pool really took a lot of bite out of Miss Thistle's Knock Out Blow. Almost completely neutered it.
Overall, I've probably been having more fun on my Claws/Regen Brute, but I'm sorely temped to roll this as my main Villain when Freedom launches.
I found ice armor relies on it due to it's lower base defense. -
Quote:I never knew that. Holy cow.Actually, no - Total Focus is.
Stalkers get those two powers in the order that Tankers do, so Energy Transfer is the tier 8 and Total Focus is the tier 9. The only AT Energy Transfer is the tier 9 on is Brutes.
Shows you how much I ever looked at Energy Melee since they destroyed it. -
Quote:Isn't energy transfer the T9 on enery melee?I made another post in beta forum after I posted that.
Yes, it is true that Finisher doesn't include Combo's extra damage but the raw damage alone is very high.
I did a comparison between Stalker's Eagle Claw and Crushing Uppercut. Crushing Uppercut at combo 0 does the most critical damage than any other ST attack. I can see why they are not including extra combo damage in critical because that will simply be too high.
Of course there are down sides. Crushing Uppercut recharge 25s but hast much longer reach at 13.5 and it activates faster than Concentrated Strike/Total Focus.
Total Focus in its current form is the worst tier 9 ST attack for Stalker. It criticals way less and activates the longest.

You forgot one.
Stalkers (in PVE) are still the butt of jokes. -
Quote:You can do a paper exercise for SO performance IMO.Hate to get all pet peeve over it but I think running SOs and doing the best you can tells a great more deal of what the sets can do than running with purples. I mean, of course builds will be great after you spend billions of influence on it. Just wondering if you'd like to run a SO variant and see how those numbers turn out - that way we know where it stands at the BASIC and where it can reach
It's rather close there IMO, EA has higher def and recharge, and IA has lower def, but makes up the slack with the slows.
Note that chilling embrace messes up placate crits, much like disrupt.
This really hurts KM. -
Quote:Gemini also seem to gloss over the fact that Ice Armor stalkers are much harder to cap, thus leading to it being MUCH more difficult to reach that magic 30D/40R number for Icy Bastion. 40+ seconds of downtime on that leaves a lot of room for pain.Chilling Embrace, Icy Bastion, etc
/EA receives all its key tools too late, and they are not all that special to begin with.
EA stalkers can Cap thier defenses earlier (my build currrently caps S/L in the mid to late 20s). Get much higher recharge, and more reliable regeneration. Also with the buffs to the passives they can reach 25-30% resistnace to most damage types (outside the toxic/psi holes which Ice Armor shares).
I really have my doubts that gemini has actually played Ice Armor on the beta server, and I know he hasn't played EA over there. Not to mention making a Min maxed Build of either. I have done both.
I would love Gemini to show an Ice Armor build here that has:
100%+ Global recharge bonus before Hasten
Softcapped to all types (excepting holes) before (energy Absorbtion)
Has about 20%ish ranged defense to fill in the Psi hole
Without gimping primary damage slotting (Go ahead and gimp AS though, I don't value it :P )>
I have a flying KM/EA, and a CJ/SJ/Jump KM/EA sloppy builds from beta that have the above. -
Quote:What I bolded does happen.Kin/Ice definitely have good synergies. One thing I don't know for sure is if chilling embrace gets you out of hidden after you reveal yourself because majority of the fun in Kinetic is to keep Build Up going with placate. I have a Kin/Dark and after they made it 100% refresh-rate, I rarely run the two auras because I don't want the damage-self and fear interrupt right after my placate.
If you are looking for a good stalker experience, I think Kinetic is a great choice.
Still its worth it to have Chilling embrace going at all times its just that good.
If I roll an ice armor stalker on live, I would not use KM with it for the reason you pointed out above.
