  1. Samuel I think your effort would be better spent advocating adding APP's to a future issue, and pushing for power customization as soon as it can be released. Its to late at this stage to have either the PPP's change or the color of electric melee for villains changed. But its not to early to push for getting what you want fixed. I'm basically trying to nudge you in a positive direction for your efforts.

I personally don't mind the PPP's as implimented, I'll not get them on every villain I have but I can see it. And red lightning doesn't actually put me off. But I can understand that, I do get put off when I play my AR blaster and desperately wish I could customize that weapon some way shape or form. The same with my broadsword scrapper I just created, he is dark based and having his broadsword dark or limmed in dark would be wicked keen. So if you were pushing for power custimization I could be out there with you argueing its needed sooner rather than later.

I would actually like to see something like the patron powers for the COH side come out at some point in the future, the themed way the work is over all nice. Sure some of the powers I'm not sure should have kept the same name or power choice but over all its a nice way to go.

I can understand how off putting it can be to have the game go one way and you want to go another, I resently got one of my characters to 30 after 2 years of playing and was very put off by the aura misssion and explanation. Here I had my magic based character getting a tech/science upgrade to his powers that causes the aura? Umm, it would have been nice to have the aura mission be tied to origion. Oh well they didn't do it that way, so I went ahead with it and got my aura. So back to my opening point, at this time the best way to proceed is to push for APP's in a future release and power customization.
  2. No it appears that he is complaining that he doesn't want to play to the world background. I can understand that, and COH has more freedom to ignore the world story in that regard.

I'm not certain I agree though. I've seen people in the pen and paper games I play who try to play something out of sync to the campaign and its just odd too experience. That is what this kind of complaint always strikes me as. That and looking at it objectively there will be a way around it down the road. We will be able to switch sides at some point, so what you do then is switch to hero and select one of the power pools available, then switch back. You have just avoided taking a patron power pool.

I actually like that the COV campaign is a bit more structured, I know that this is a sore point with some. But we are not playing any old villain in COV, which seems to be what some are asking for, we are instead playing villains in a specific setting.
  3. Exactly the animal headed gods, man headed animals are images you see in Egyptian art. So a shifter that can do animal or animal part shifting would be very appropriate to the mythology. And we do know that they like to take mythology and twist it slightly. We get the myths but they aren't what we think they are.

It's an idea for how the EAT might be anyway. Without more information from the devs its just wild speculation though.
  4. Seems a good place to toss some random speculation in. Your nice summary of the data we have on blood of the black stream got me thinking.

Its assumed to be an egyptian themed shifting EAT. With a nod from Manticore recognizing that the black stream is another name for the Nile river. It is also a negatively viewed EAT from the hero perspective. Ie the person who had their hero added to the CC game and the reference to the BOTBS that was added to their background. Another reference to Egypt by the way.

I suspect the EAT is likely associated with Set and crocodiles or snakes. It doesn't seem to large a leap to a type of werecrocodile.

    Edit: fixed annoying typo.
  5. Is it bad that my first reaction was "oh god what are they doing to archery/trick arrow now?" Followed by "oh it's from _Castle_ it should be good news."

Actually it does look nice but I am also hoping for more happiness and joy coming Archery/TA's way. The sets need something they simply under perform currently. ::sigh:: And I like my ta/a, I just wish he where more effective and didn't have to out level so many missions so he could do them.
  6. Drat... Still you didn't rule out that we might see a new power set or two... Here is hoping.

I'm an FF defender...I need a team even for bosses/elite bosses

    [/ QUOTE ]

If I understand the fix right you will still be facing AV's then. If you have a big enough team the mission will always spawn an AV. Duo teams might face only Elite's but even there you can get the mission to spawn an AV but bumping your difficulty up before starting the mission.

Also if I'm understanding it right everyone will face the AV's its just that they will spawn as elites if your solo or have a small enough team. So that stupid Maestro mission I was stuck with for 2 levels could have been done by me and I would have faced an elite Maestro instead of the AV Maestro I did have to deal with.

For me this is a fantastic change I just don't put teams together at all. I'll play in your team if you set one up and invite me but I won't no matter what make one myself. Its an odd quirk.
  8. [ QUOTE ]
Oh okay, so it's just the usual bait-and-switch that comes like clockwork. Suppression still brings in a huge host of QOL problems and is as bafflingly asinine as the previous idea. They may as well just change the power name to "kinda sneaky...sometimes".

    [/ QUOTE ]

No bait and switch at all. His posting is quite clear that the current version on test is being pulled so they can recode it to suppression.

Further Statesman comments that he liked the idea of supression that other players proposed and they would be using that. So you have the players, us making good and solid arguements about some specific problems. Not the problems your complaining about but other problems. And a suggestion by players of an alternative mechanic to do it.

Statesman read the two suggestions and aggreed that the fix as implimented on test could be abused to harrass people. So they would pull it, further he agreed that supression was a better fix then simply requireing it to be turned off and that they would recode it for that.

This is bait and switch how?
  9. [ QUOTE ]
This means no suppression either, right? That would incur most of the same problems the original nerf brought, so I hope we're sticking with stealth as-is.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If you read Statesman's comment on it, yes supression of stealth will be coming in a future patch. They will be pulling the current method so they can code supression in.

Its only being pulled because otherwise idiots would use group and castable invisibility abilities to grief and harass players.
  10. Goes off to do his happy dance. Everyone else might want to avert their eyes to preserver sanity.
  11. Keep in mind that a really good central gathering place similiar to Atlas park hasn't developed in COV. People just don't seem to gather in Fort Darwin like they do under the statue of Atlas.
  12. I have the same bug which gets really really annoying.

Come over to Champion, its running 2 instances of Mercy Island and Port Oakes. Though I only saw 1 of CAD.

Remember all of that stress testing in beta was to get the server running with insane numbers, I rather expect the cap for the load bubbles changed with the release of COV.
  13. At minimum 3 arcs. There is Mr. Bocor he has an arc, Billy Heck has an arc, and um Angeleti? I think he has an arc. It appears the you can't get more than 1 maybe 2 of the arcs before out leveling them. I managed to get Mr. Bocor's and Billy Hecks done but I just finished Billy's at level 11 and now he won't talk to me.

It appears that Mr. Bocor gives you the radio at level 10. I finished his arcs at level 9 and he simply said to come back at level 10. When I remembered to contact him at level 11 he gave me the radio.
  14. I just out leveled Billy last night before finishing all of his missions. I really wanted the fire pet from him. It looks like the best you can do is 1.5 contacts before reaching 11 and just having the radio or running over to CAD. And I still need to see if I can get Veluta Lunata to acknowledge me.
  15. Exactly keep the old brute around, he can be fixed it will just be slow to gain the levels and fix him.

/stone has the best defense of those but has some serious draw backs to be aware of. Rooted while literaly the best remaining regen power in the game slows your movement to a crawl. It can be toggled on and off to move from group to group, but some people find toggling it annoying, and if your facing a group of mezzers you could be introuble before you get it back up. It can be fixed by taking swift from the fitness pool and 3 slotting it for run SO's.

The second major draw back is the flat out best defense out there. That is granite armor. It does the same negative to your movement but it also actually slows down your attacks by a noticable amount. Your safe in it but it may prove to slow for you.

With those two warnings /stone is a nifty set. Now /inv is nice as well and holds up well.
  16. Exactly, it definately looks like your missing jab and brawl. A brute should not skip their fast starting attack and should set brawl to autofire. These two will do more for building up fury. And the key to being a great brute is building fury quick and maintaining it.

If your not getting your fury up your going to be taking more damage over time. While if your fury is up you can kill faster.

I use DM and use brawl + shadow punch to build fury, adding in a smite when it cycles. And once fury is up tossing in shadow mauls. This combination is fantastic to charge through battles. I've charged orange Lts with half health and endurance and won.

The problem is that all of your COH experience with Tankers and Scrappers tell you to skip the fast quick attack an brawl. But for a brute those two are critical powers.
  17. DM/Stone

DM is just to nifty of a utility set, I fell in love with it on my scrapper and its great on a brute.

Stone because it fit my character concept. That said it is a very good armor set. It does have some specific drawbacks but they can be worked with.

I've upgraded using the CoV preorder, but heroes DON'T get the new costume options! What happened?!

    [/ QUOTE ]

If you read further you'll find out that it was approved to do this last week after this thread was created. It takes time to code it so it will have to wait for a patch or two. But the change is approved and coming. Baring some glaring problem with coding it.
  19. The store you bought it from is where you where supposed to recieve your preorder box.
  20. [ QUOTE ]
Do you really think they stand to lose more customers by opening the servers than not?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually yes, in addition opening the servers up early would likely open them up to a class action lawsuit by everyone who had a legitamate preorder. No they are not going to do it.
  21. If you allow the retail people in early then how are you going to compensate all of the people promised a 2 day headstart? sorry release date is the 31st. If you don't have the correct pre-order from the store then take it up with them.
  22. As I said before Cool, absolutely cool.

Yes not every villain outfit is appropriate but a large number of the new costume options are very appropriate to heroes. Even a numbr of the monster options fit well.

Heh.. glad I saved some of those free costume changes from awhile back! Whoot!

    [/ QUOTE ]

So am I, I have at least 3 maybe more characters who will be going in for a costume redesign if this goes in.
  24. [ QUOTE ]
If you're going to go through with this, at least make the options available to everyone. There is absolutely no purpose to penalizing those who don't buy CoV outside of just that, penalizing them. This isn't like bases, which require interaction with villains to fulfill their purpose in the game, you can never meet a villain player and still want more options for your costume.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    No they shouldn't.

If you choose not the buy the expansion then you shouldn't get the benefits of the expansion.
  25. [ QUOTE ]
They would have to see you wearing what you picked out. The reason is that if you don't own CoV you still HAVE to see the villains dressed normally. Therefore you will have to download all the CoV graphics even if you don't own it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually I6 adds all of the graphic options. Remember you need to be able to actually see the villains in the PvP zones so the costume options have to be added to COH anyway.

The limitation is likely coding the character creator to allow those with both full access to the costume options. And yes I am drooling at the thought of redesigning some of my hero's with the villain art.
