Ack no EG I don't do TFs or Trials, but I do as many story arcs as I can before out leveling them. Your saying I can't get any of the rarer recipes?

    grrrr.

Now I hear you guys... you all seem to dislike the Story Arc aspect of this system. I've had some discussions with the team yesterday about what we could do instead, and still keep the flavor of the four pool system, because having the extra three pools allows us to not only reward risk/reward, but time/reward as well. Takes longer to do a Task Force? Here's a nice bonus you can't get anywhere else. Finish the Respec trial, but already have all your Respecs? Here's a nice reward that carries with it some good inherent value.

Ack now I'm all paranoid because I primarily do story arcs and not TFs or Trials. And it sounds like I won't have a chance to get the rarer recipes that you where originally going to offer me. Ack...

DOOOM! ok got that out of my system.
  3. From what I can see you can drop those pet inventions in Mastermind pets or hero pets. Its just that masterminds get 3 pet powers to slot versus the usual one or two for heroes.
  4. Octavian beat me to it. Oh and if you check the Mastermind forums Karl_Rove_man has a thread on slotting his mastermind with sets. Very enlightening.

    Full IO Sets

Each set is designed to bring you up to close to the ED limit. Though I note that _Castle_ stated that min/maxing required a mix of HO's and IO's.
  6. I've never had much of a problem with ED and since I just started playing with my Nemesis staff this week I've been here awhile.
  7. Actually alot of the people who are posting fairly hostilly care deeply about the game. The problem is that they don't express themselves well. Their passion expresses itself in an adversarial fashion. So instead of offering constructive criticism to improve the game they offer destructive criticism. But they are expressing their very passion and care. Just in a poor fashion.

Frankly posting in a neutral or at least nonconfrontational manner often has a better response. but people learn the confrontational approach.

Additionally getting into psycology a bit some people post their ideas and wrap them in their emotion. This isn't necissarily bad but then others come along and dissect the idea and disgard the emotion. The first group doesn't like or appreciate how their idea is dissected and examined so come back even stronger. The reality of this is just conflicting personality types.

    Cryptic article.

It is known that MUO is going to be an Xbox360 and PC game. While I've seen people praising Oblivion's controls, I'll note that they are far more primitive compared to earlier Elder scrolls games. Depth of game controls had to be sacrificed for console compatability.

This means that if Cryptic doesn't insist that MOU use a keyboard the control system will have to be simplified from what you see in COX.

You typically don't see the depth or complexity of control interfaces in console games. So don't expect that you will see the same level of control. In my opinion it is a flaw in making games for a console.

A game designed for a PC expects to have 104 key input device along with a 2 button mouse. An Xbox has this; Six analog buttons, two analog pressure-point triggers, one eight-way directional pad and two menu navigation buttons. As you can see the available controls are far more limited with a console game. All of this means that a console game must be more limited in the control interface.

This to me is the real challenge in putting a MMOG on a console.
  9. I really wanted to like Horizons, and playing a dragon was neat, but it wasn't enough. ::sigh::

So does anyone remember Kingdom of Drakkar?
  11. Yes the bank police band missions are going to random doors in the zone.
  12. A few tips for those confused by safeguard missions.

<ul type="square">[*]You have 5 minutes from the time you enter the mission until the bank starts getting robbed. [*]If you get to close to the bank the robbery starts even if your 5 minutes are not up.[*] There will be a villain plus looters racing for the vault. If you can stop them before the vault door is destroyed the rest of the mission is casual.[*] If the vault door is destroyed you must stop every one in the bank. Best two options for this are stay outside and get them as they exit, or intercept them as they head to their get away point.[*] If you get everything in the bank and the mission didn't complete race outside and for the get away point. One or more of the robbers escaped.[*]Once the mission complete happens the 15 minute timer starts. [*] You gain time for stopping vandels[*] You gain time for stopping various side missions from occuring[*] All side missions will be keyed by the same villain type as did the robbery.[/list]
  13. Odd, I love that they put all of that enhancement information in the tool tip window. I'm counting that as one of the huge plusses of I8. Just goes to show that different people like different things I guess.

When I claim my Preorder Sprint Power reward, the button doesn't get removed from the badge window. I can keep clicking on it and seeing the "Veteran Reward Claimed!" text pop up over and over again.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That is deliberate. Apparently the prestige sprints can disapear during a respec so they left the button allowing you to reclaim them.
  15. The pocket D teleport power is disabled until level 3. This is so that you can't teleport out of outbreak or breakout. There are problems with the setup of characters who do that. Early in COV people found you could join new characters to a supergroup, then die in breakout and select the supergroup base to rez at. This was used to bypass breakout but was found to cause issues with the characters who did this.
  16. There is a bug invoving being teamed side kicking and someone else being in SG mode. I've recieved salvage in those cases as well. Observed this in COV beta actually and reported it then. It hasn't apparently been fixed.
  17. right around page 227 or so in the free update to the prima guide is the details on the mayham missions. To try and answer though. The arson mission and key are next to each other towards the middle of the map on the right side below the L shaped building. The kidnap mission should be right infront of the big building directly to the west from where you enter the mission. The store mission should be directly south of where you start the second store going south in the row of shops. Key should be right in front. Is two buildings south and 1 west with the key behind it. Raid location go to the bank entrance then go south to the next building and look in the alley on the south side of it.
  18. Did the Atlas Mayham mission with my el/el brute noticed a couple of changes from the last time I did it. First while I did get a key off of some skulls I never got a clue or a star on the map to show where it went to. Also couldn't find the side mission just looking around.

Second I broke what appeared to be an Ice/ice corruptor out of jail and well he wasn't all that much help. He would lock onto a citizen and start freezing them in place over and over and over and over and ... oh well you get the idea. Since the citizen doesn't die, and they where frozen in place and couldn't run away... He just kept doing it. Basically he would stop if I got far enough away from him then start up, but unlike the energy/rad corruptor I freed in my last mission this one wasn't to much help. Pity it would have been nice. I did get random time extentions from things he would do but it was just very random.

I did rob the bank defeat my hero and escape, getting the raptor pack. Joy. that is well worth doing the mission just for that.

My only other complaint is that it uses the sub at the far side of Port Oakes. That is a very nasty run for a level 7 character.
  19. Ok, I took my level 15 TA/A out last night. First I ran the mission on live, then I ran the same mission on test. My impression is that it performed better on test than live. I opened every battle with flash, glue, ice, and fire, then just shot at everything until they died, cycling ice in as it recharged. I didn't have any major endurance issues on test, where a long battle on live left me popping blues for endurance. It feel like the test version ran slightly faster and having glue arrow available for every fight made a huge difference. once I can get 3 SO recharges slotted in it the power will be even better.

This was against the clockwork the enemy type I have the worst time against. I think its that they have fairly hefty damage reduction against lethal while inturn hitting me with all that electricity.

I would have to play longer of course but my initial impression is that it performs better than it did.
  20. Ok, had a lot of fun, took Terradraconis my DM/Stone brute into do mayham. Found the police and broke a rad/rad corruptor out. She followed me around and helped the rest of the mission. Though obviously she didn't subscribe to the healbot school of corrupting. Burned down the building, smashed alot of things, had my time up over 25 minutes at one point. Oh your told you have 20 minutes, when I got into the mission I had 13 minutes...

On the way out of the bank I ran into Valkyrie, the rad/rad I had with me helped a whole lot. the group teleport power for 24 hours is interesting but I would have preferred if it had been 5 uses or something like that. I'm more likely to get 5 uses that way than use it in the next 24 hours. ::shrug::

getting stuck to the floor is annoying and thats about all to say.
  21. Its not like it couldn't use some improvement, but the overall tone is very like the one regarding EA. And now I don't hear those complaints about EA. It just feels like everyone going its horrible... when the reality is more it perhaps, and thats a perhaps could use some tweaking.
  22. The whole slew of complaints reminds me of the ones that greeted Energy Armor when it was introduced in beta.
  23. Oh I do wish it was that easy, as I mentioned I have a few characters who could use a tweak here or there, and how many would instantly remove the pink pom-poms of doom if they could.

My understanding of this, and it is based on memory not not looking back for the post specifically. First they need to redo the powers animation in a grey scale, and that is all of the animation involved with that power. Apparently some effects are built up from several different individual pieces. After they redo all of the art then they can start to add a way to customize it.

Add in that we have a figure of about 1.5 months to create the art for a new power set. I can see where going back and redoing all of the power sets to a grey scale format would take some time. And my impression is that its an ongoing project but because new power sets are higher priority and power animation for new opponants are higher priority it will take even more time before we see this.

All this said the devs have intimated that weapon costomization might be doable sooner. And have hinted we might see something along that lines first. So even though they want this as well, its going to take time for the ground work to be prepared. At that point your idea of changing 1 bit to another works and it becomes easy to do.

Its to late at this stage to have ... the color of electric melee for villains changed.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Oh, please. They just need to change that one spot in the code where it says 255 0 0 to 224 255 255. kthx

    [/ QUOTE ]

Wrong, from discussions of power customization that have been answered its much much more involved than that. Which is why we don't already have the ability to do things like change the color of our powers.
