  1. As ZI says it hasn't been released yet. Apparently there are a few issues with how the body changing works. Major issues.

I hate respec'ing characters and will only do it under EXTREME duress.

My fire/rad controller has several Purple sets collecting dust in base storage because I'm too lazy to respec him and don't want to over-write the prime sets he has slotted now.

All my characters are drowning in respec's anyway, with all the vet specs I've accumulated. And I usually have a couple of respec recipes lying around on this or that alt- they're a very profitable flipping opportunity.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Exactly. Being a 60 month vet I should respec my dark/stone brute to change his travel powers. Teleport being so much more useful in granite than Super Jump. And I could dump combat jumping for haste. And yet it is such a pain to respec that I won't bother and will simply keep CJ and SJ. They don't bother me to have them and while the other would be handy it isn't required. ::shrug:: The problem is having to go back in and reselect all of my powers and slots again to get my IO's reslotted where they go. What a pain. Meh.

And yes I know I could use Mid's to plan it out. But it is still more bother than it is worth.
  3. I think I've used like 4 total freespec's since they were introduced. That is across 70+ characters.
  4. <AR>

Just to be clear here there is already a height slider in the game. You set your height when you first create your character.

The new add on one is only useful at the tailor to change the height of a character slot.

Just to be clear. Because the way some people in this thread are carrying on you would think you have never ever been able to set your height. Not that you couldn't modify it post character creation and now you can buy an option to allow you to if you want.

Intel® Pentium® III 800 MHz or AMD Athlon 800 MHz

Security through obscurity isn't security. It's wishful thinking.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's not obscurity that makes a Mac less vulnerable to viruses. It's the fact that it uses a completely different kind of base system for computing that PC written viruses cannot navigate through.

99.99999% of viruses are written on PCs for PCs and therefor can only affect PCs.

Find a hacker anywhere that uses a Mac. I rest my case.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not only find a hacker that uses a Mac, but find one that's successfully put a virus on OS X. It hasnt been done....yet. There are 0 active viruses currently infecting OS X users.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Wrong Ibotnet is a new OS X virus out there in the wild.

Macs are not magically immune to viruses.

[/ QUOTE ]I can't quote this hard enough. It's really annoyed me with the recent PC vs. Mac ads where someone asks for a virus-free computer and are given no option but the Mac. Grah! Mac does not mean virus free! PC does not mean virus-ridden! >

    [/ QUOTE ]

If said person is running Mac OS X, then he's as safe as one could get from viruses. Its probably THE most secure OS out there.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually not true. The only reason Mac and Linux clones have a lower rate of viruses written for them is that they are a much smaller pool of targets. I'll note that a Botnet was recently found that runs on macs and infects them. So macs are not inherently more secure than PC's.

In some ways they are probably more vulnerable because of the myth of a virus free computer makes people vulnerable to social hacking. Ie getting the person to download and install the virus themselves. At least on the PC you sort of expect that behavior not that it prevents ID ten T errors.

Play on a Mac, problem solved.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Does not compute.

Macs are not magically immune to viruses. The only reason a Mac isn't hit as often with a virus as a Windows system is because Windows is far more common and widespread, which means the virus will hit as many people as possible. I've had to put up with people who own a Mac when they get all pissy when their system shuts down because of a virus while they had no virus protection software. It's not a pretty sight, though it is humorous when they say "I had a Mac!" for a reason why they didn't protect themselves.

As to this thread topic: having CoH on your computer doesn't open you up to a virus. Playing CoH does not open you up to a virus. Running the updater to get patches does not open you up to a virus. Whoever told you it did is technologically ignorant.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oh yes that new PC/Mac ad had me rolling on the ground laughing. They effectively claimed that the Mac doesn't crash nor does it have viruses. Neither claim being true. The mac I have at work crashed to the bomb icon on me 15 minutes out of the box. And recently a massive botnet was detected running on Macs.

As for getting viruses from MMOG's ... Well that doesn't happen. You can get them from trainers and other add on programs you download from 3rd party sites if you are not careful but that isn't the same thing.

the problem isnt just in the ranged attacks, its in the number of attacks that they get at ALL levels. A friend made an MA arc and I ran it on a soft capped sr brute, it was effortless however he had a few messages from people who tried his arc who found it totally impossible, reason being was players at lvl 16 had to face the same attacks as I did as a lvl 50.

custom mobs are becoming more and more off limits and as a result what will be the point of MA? I fear its dangerously close to being another Arena, COP or base issue.

    [/ QUOTE ]

My custom mobs have worked out pretty well the changes didn't effect them at all. But then all of my mobs have fairly solid arrays of attacks to begin with. I did have to add a couple of types to give more of a chance for some types but running my low levels against them worked out just fine.

Uhm . . . Because it would shut the OP up? . . . Nah your right he'd just make some other bizarre suggestions like selling all IO's in stores for a fixed price.

No no I want the OP to explain to me why I would like this idea. Not why he/she would like the idea but why I would like it.

And it has to be a reason I really would like it not one she/he thinks I would like.

I'm getting tired of these $10 costume packs. I could possibly understand ONE special $10 pack. But now there are 4, with more coming. I don't think people should have to pay $40 extra if they want to access costume pieces other than veteran ones. It just strikes me as majorly low and cheap.

But I and it appears a fair number of others want more of these.

    Switching Sides

This has been suggested before and at one time was an active dev project. During COV beta and after it launched as Issue 6 switching sides was actively discussed by the devs as an on going project. During this time several planning details where discussed. With the release of issue 7 the devs took switching sides off of the table. While some people hold that it was due to balance issues between the archetypes the devs themselves indicated it was put on hod for technical reasons.

Looking at the various mechanics and things that the devs have stated since the technical reason for the hold up has to be the patron badge. With Issue 7 the level 41 - 50 COV content was released including the patron badges and the patron powers tied directly to the badges. The mechanics of COX do not allow easy removal of a badge and since patron powers are directly unlocked by having the badge this proved a problem. Positron has indicated that they don't want patron powers hero side so this indicates that until the badge issue was fixed no side switching could be done.

With Issue 13 the badge issue has been resolved, how patron powers are awarded is no longer as directly tied to the patron badge. Also the devs have made noises that could be interpreted as indicating renewed life to this project. They haven't come right out and said so, more that they indicated several old back burnered and shelved projects are being looked at and worked on. Since side switching fits into this category and the badge problem appears to have been resolved speculation is that side switching is one of the projects that have been renewed.

Stated goals for side switching from the deep past when it was discussed.

    * It would be a mission/arc that ended with you choosing to save or kill the family of a longbow member. Depending on your actions you would switch sides.

    * You couldn't take any influence/infamy with you when you switch.

    * If you think you can abuse it they probably have already come up with a way to block it.

    * Yes you retain your AT when you switch. ie tankers don't turn into brutes or the like.

    * You can switch multiple times.

Logical deductions based on stated goals and dev behavior.

    * You will lose all of your enhancements when you switch sides they don't go with you.

    * You will be forced into a respecification when you switch sides. This because the devs do not want Patron Powers hero side nor Epic powers villain side. Thus you will respecify your character and have to pick new level 41+ powers.

I wouldn't buy a respec unless I had no other option and then I still might not.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think there is a fundamental confusion here. I said that before but it doesn't hurt to emphasise it again.

Pretty much about this is the target audience to buy respecifications. Again pretty much no one you will find posting in this thread or on the boards is the target audience. Oh some are but in the main the posters here are not.

Then you ask who is the target audience?

Well I'm glad you asked. The target audience is two fold.

<ul type="square">[*]First PVPers who want to tweak builds and have plenty of cash to do so with. They are group one and the smaller of the groups. They already would have been buying either inf or craftable respecifications from RMTers so this simply cuts that off and gets some of that market.
[*]Second that category of OCD player who must have it now. Ie they again have cash and want something now. For them dropping $10.00 for a respec is nothing. They regularly spend that kind of cash without blinking as a casual exercise. These folk make up the vast majority of the target audience. Again it was being served by the RMTers and now that business is being cut off at the knees.[/list]
It isn't really there for the general player who burned through their respec's either taking bad advice or for what ever reason. Oh it offers an out if they are trapped but it isn't being offered for them.

Because pissing off 100 to 600 players for something the develops had left broken without any early warnings is a good thing?

    [/ QUOTE ]

They had warnings. The IO's are labled unique so anyone who slotted multiple copies pretty much had to know that they where using an exploit that would go away. Fortunately the devs are being nice and warning players about it rather than just rolling it live like they do for the typical exploit fix.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And you conveniently ignored that players would just read that, see that you could slot it and shrug "must be labeled wrong like some other powers and stuff."

    [/ QUOTE ]

It was their choice to assume that it was an error.
