Quote:Did either of you have a password hint set at any point? I ask because I had that problem. Interestingly enough that must be a known bug because the response I got to reporting it was a reply back informing me that the password hint had been cleared. Which permitted me to finally verify my account.Looking at the "questions", it appears to be giving the answer, not the question. (e.g., the hint question was "rover", not "What is the name of your first pet"). No, rover wasn't the real word, but I'll keep that to myself.
Also, for birthdays, I'm assuming a one-digit day and four-digit year since we're not given any guidelines for what is expected there.
Perhaps that's part of the problem. The instructions are lacking detail. If they are wanting exact matches on the dates, they need to specify the number of digits for each field. -
Wait the Event isn't dead? Why isn't it dead?

Actually once you get to a sufficiently advanced level of tech you should be able to rewrite the laws of physics. At least in a controlled area. For this we are talking about working with Planc level forces or sub quark level. But once you can work at that level you should be able to change the rules to suit you.

Well I've gone ahead and filed a bug report on the password hint showing up as the challenge portion of the challenge/response for the initial verification. It will be interesting to see what actual response if any I get to that.
Clearly it stored the password hint in line with the challenge response and the new system can't tell the difference between the one and the other. ::sigh::
ie.
Password Hint -
mothers maiden name - a name, number of some answer
your highschool - an answer of some kind.
Your pets name - an answer of some kind.
I could be wrong and the Password hint could be after the Challenge/Response info, but its in there on one side or the other and the delightful "security" software can't tell that it isn't a challenge.
Ah well, I obviously didn't need my account.I mean I've only had it unbroken for 7 years.

Quote:I tried what you said and it doesn't work. I've left the box blank.I just told you what I did yesterday to successfully be authorized. Key in your birthdate and the captca and hit verify/enter. Is NCSOFT paying you to be a bug tester? You set up the password challenge answer/box, if you can't remember it...then you don't get authorized.
No I didn't setup that as a password/challenge. Why? Because the word is clearly the hint for my password. And the only correct response to the word is my password. I am fairly certain that 7 years ago when I setup my account I did have an option to set a password hint. The problem is that the new system appears to not be handling it correctly. This is I am fairly certain a bug in the way their system is working. Probably because each of the games and game systems used different criteria for setting them up over the years. -
Quote:What part of there is no valid question don't you get?I state my prior reply, Answer the question(s) in front of you if you want to play the game, Girl Genius...
The stupid thing is asking me A WORD. The only valid answer to the thing is my password. What part of it being A SINGLE WORD are you not understanding?
It is not asking me a question. I'm fairly certain this is a bug because what it is displaying as a question is clearly my password hint from 7 years ago. -
Quote:No as noted I have one more line than you do.I did this yesterday and it worked. This is what you got right?

Hit verify (below) after you key in the answer
I have the line with A WORD and A BOX above the birthdate line.
The problem is that the word is obviously my password hint. It is not a question. So far leaving the box blank and putting the word in it haven't worked. I wonder if maybe I should just type Password Hint in the box? Anyway it clearly is my password hint and not a security question.
The problem I think is that the hint is stored with my security info and the script they are using to generate the check is grabbing it out of the file and then getting confused by it. I.E. this is a bug with their new system not meshing with something they did 7 years ago.
Note:
Just to be clear when I say it is my hint I mean like this. If the word was Tree, and it isn't my password might be something like Silmarillion. which is a tree. And for the record my password isn't that simple but the word still works as a mnemonic to determine what it is. And the word isn't tree. -
Quote:You are not understanding me. There is no security question. I am serious about this essentially I have this.Read the question and answer the security question in front of you if you want to play the game, youngling. Your making this way too hard. Select the corrrect date from the dropdown menus and hit "enter." Can you remember your birthday? If not, go ask the cardholder.
Tree - Box to type answer into. [and no tree isn't the word]
Birthdate - Boxes to answer in.
Captcha.
It isn't asking me a question. The "Tree" question above would be the correct word to be my password hint. The problem is that the only correct response to "Tree" is my password. Not anything else. Thus the part above where I mention that they must have once had it setup to prompt for a real Password Hint and not one of the fake security questions. -
I've spotted a different problem with all of this. In addition to the really bad security change.
It appears that 7 years ago you could enter a Password Hint that I suppose would be sent to you or prompt you for use or something. It wasn't the list of standard questions but just a hint.
I know this because just now when I tried to login the thing gave me a Password hint, my birthdate, and a captcha.
The problem is that the Hint is on the left side and is clearly just that the mnemonic hint to trigger memory of my password. I.E. THERE IS NO CORRECT RESPONSE TO IT BECAUSE THE STUPID THING ISN'T ASKING ME A QUESTION!
Grrrr.
I could probably guess the answer to most things except maybe pet, 7 years ago I can't remember what I might have used, I've changed my standard answer to that question since. What you answer those questions truthfully? What is wrong with you? I have a standard list of false answers I use for those stupid false security questions.
So anyway if your account is old enough you could be screwed on this. -
Quote:Convenience. The smartphone screen is to small to use very effectively for much. Just specialized looking up of things. I know I have a Motorola Droid. I hate having to use it for most research on the internet.Would you care to explain how it can be useful for us then, cos I'm at a loss to see what benifit it has over say... a laptop or a smartphone.
The Ipad makes a great tool for convenient access to the internet, files, and the like. Since I bought an IPad last spring I have only had my laptop out maybe 6 or 7 times total. I just don't use it anymore.
I bought the laptop to use as my RPG gaming computer. It has my characters, and the PDF's I've bought of various games along with some other handy thing. Frankly it is more convenient to use my Ipad for all of that. I create and keep my character sheets on my desktop then transfer them over to the IPad easily. I then can conveniently have the character, the books, dice roller, and other apps on hand.
If I want to do a bit of quick research on the internet the 9.7" screen is very friendly to browse the internet with. Combine that with some games for amusement and that would be enough.
But I bought and downloaded some network management apps for the IPad as well and have been using it at work. Frankly my work laptop has stayed in the office when I run out to help staff with their computers and my IPad goes with me.
An IPad isn't a complete replacement for a computer but it does a fantastic job of doing 70 - 80% of the day to day tasks in a convenient portable form.
That is what an IPad and presumably the other new tablets as they come out are good for.
They are not replacements for computers but instead let you take the computer experience portable in an easy handy format. Which you can then go back to the computer and do any task that does require one. -
Saw that trailer and it went on my to see list of movies.

Breed by Jim Starlin and Southern Knights by Henry Vogel.
Just a couple of random answers.
Edit - On reflection almost any of the Malibu Comics series before Marvel bought them. -
Play more angry birds on my IPad.

One observer is creepy two observers are really really creepy.

That is nice, I would actually be glad to pay the BBC for access to their shows. I've been paying about $5 a month for the last 6 months so I can watch them anyway. Just not paying the BBC, but instead one of the VPN companies so that I can tunnel into England and then watch BBC shows. ::shrug:: I got tired of not being able to watch various shows I like that are on the BBC but not available in America because of the various media contracts.

Quote:Thank the 10,000 little gods that they never did.Just as the title says, I was wondering if they added voice chat to CoH?
I did a search and only found this http://coh103.gtm.cityofheroes.com/s...d.php?t=123920 but I'm not sure if they added it so far. -
It took the show a season and a half but the last 4 episodes it was finally starting to come together and work for me. Mind you it took a season and a half where I wanted to throw the whole thing out an airlock but it did finally start working.

You are missing the point. You had defeated him, you don't have to kill/stun him into oblivion. At this point all you had to do was get physically close enough to him him so that when you clicked on him the final dialog box would come up. And even the squishiest character can survive walking in lava long enough to do that.
So essentially you have told us you had done everything in the mission but the very final step and went outside and abandoned it.
Note all you have to do is click on him not attack at that point. -
If you do the Loyalist path you will encounter them in one mission. The mission where mother sends you to get Vanessa for her. All through the final mission you encounter them.

Quote:You can use knockback to put him in the lava. Or you can lure him into the hallway out of range of his clones and he goes down fairly easily.Like all the treads on purple drop rates the milage seems to vary :-(
It's 11:30 pm in Australia and there were no lvl 50's in oro or PI but me :-( (on CoH Justice) I tried to solo the trapdoor mission with my archer blaster and gave up after 1/2 hour, I just couldn't dent him enuff with all his regen.
I see the same thing in the new GR content the devs egged on by the games uber elites have made the damn things so hard that it is no longer fun.
