I find the general lack of feathered options to be mildly irritating.

I don't bother crafting them mainly because they're temporary.

That doesn't seem to be what he was suggesting. He said to put it in after Weave, making it an extra higher tier ability like Spring Attack, Afterburner, or Burnout.

Quote:I'm not avoiding attacks with it, but I have an Empathy Defender I'm planning to level solely in DFB called "Life From Above".Ugh, really?! I mean, I get that conceptually: maybe he wants to create a Marvel-esque mutant, a one-trick pony. But then turn off your xp at 10 or 12 and be a perma-healer on DFBs! People will love you!

I hate Traps. By most accounts it has good numbers, and its strength is not my problem with it. I just hate the way it plays. Too much click-n-stick for me.

Implies "mantis" or "manta ray" to me.
If there was an Ultimate DC universe and they established from the start that "L" is "S" and vice-versa, I'd not bat an eye as Luperman fought his battles against Sex Suthor while having a glorious L emblazoned on his chest. But if they suddenly put Superman on a cover with a big L on his chest and no explanation other than bad art, it'd be a different story. A story very much like the one we're dealing with here. -
On the left side of this official page. The spider emblem has a three part body like an insect, and ten legs (and don't talk to me about pedipalps).

PBAoE Support & Shields/PBAoE Attacks & Controls

There are oft-recommended powers I tend to skip because I don't like the way they work, and if I end up having to take them for lack of any other choices I often don't use them. Build Up and Aim, for instance. Or Clear Mind. Or that sonic Trick Arrow.
I generally don't go in for Tough/Weave, either.
And offensive toggles on characters without mez protection make me think twice, moreso if they're rather dependent on those toggles. My Fire/Rad controller has been pretty much abandoned in the 40s because of how ultimately futile they seem. -
Quote:If it made you LFG into the Shivan fight it would at least be teaching you something. It's supposed to, but it really doesn't. It teaches us how to jump off a chasm and not participate in a fight against a raid boss the likes of which we won't see any time soon. That's my key problem with it. It's not a tutorial, it's a spectacle.
I enjoy some spectacle, mind, but there's should be more than *just* spectacle. -
I have a Scrapper who's powers are chiefly toggles. I wasn't intending to "gimp" the character, per se, but that's certainly a side effect.
And I don't much bother with IOs these days. -
I like the new Jackalman. I like Panthro's robot arms, but not the fact that they stretch.

The mythology they put behind it doesn't really matter to me. I think they're using the ugly solid blue suit with a red belt from recent comics, though.
-
They're the first two sets I consider whenever I play a Mastermind and I don't have a concept in mind that requires a particular secondary. The self-mez-protection and hands-free nature are the key factors for me.

I used to do the old tutorial every time. I'd set up my UI do all the missions (when it became an option, I started auto-completing the door mission every time) and go to Atlas or Galaxy based on what kind of character I was playing (for some reason, if it was a grim/gritty type hero I'd send it to Galaxy).
I've been skipping the new tutorial ever since the first time I did it live, though. I don't know exactly why. If you asked me at any given time I'd tend to say that I *like* the new tutorial better than the old, but I just don't feel compelled to do it. -
Indeed. They should take away the ability to enter the queue as a team and make it pure PUG land (after all, if you're on a team you're not really LFG). And anyone who didn't want to do that could always rely on Dark Astoria for their Incarnate advancement.
Of course, at this point that'll never happen. -
Quote:I tend to lean towards the cosmetic myself, but the points in the beta thread were compelling enough that I didn't jump on Tuesday and buy this set. I haven't been on since double XP, actually, but if there's also an intermittent pet AI bug going on that's even less incentive for me to grab a new Mastermind set right now. As long as boredom doesn't overpower my senses this weekend, it may be a good while before I contemplate grabbing it.I don't understand how you 'cosmetic trumps performance' people can't accept both are equally important. Weird. I guess it's just a hail-mary effort to justify the purchase of bad.
Trying to come up with a Dark Control character I can cope with to help deflect any sudden urges. -
If it's going particularly nuts, you can end up with some crazy level disparity as well. I once entered a 14th level character's old radio mission to find it populated with enemies over level 40.

I've not been terribly bothered by it so far. They seem to come out with more regularity, which is a plus, I'd say.
-
The first trailer I saw made the movie look potentially (and surprisingly) okay (but not great). The commercials that have been playing on TV, however, make me think it's going to be as terrible as I'd imagine a new Three Stooges movie to be.

Indeed. There's absolutely nothing strange about the concept. Putting aside a truckload of wizards who've blasted with staves (not to mention rods and wand, now make your saving throw), there's also Starman/Stargirl's cosmic staff, and probably a few other tech staves of that nature in comics that aren't springing immediately to my mind.

Quote:That would require slogging through 9 levels of hell. I, for one, do not wish to see Cocytus.Rather than scrap the character, try picking up the AoE immobilize from any of the Patron Pools.
EDIT: And it would also require switching over to villainside to do the Patron Arc and then back again. Blegh.
