My Toggle Man inspired character has Conserve Power set on Auto.
-
That sounds familiar. Like perhaps it's something I've seen and forgotten.

Quote:I play the game while watching movies or TV all the time. And occasionally during brief moments of sleep, but those aren't intentional. Can't kill a single group of level 50 enemies while you're at work or sleeping, or watching a movie, or any number of other real life things that keep you away from your computer.
-
Now that I've seen the XP Boosters, and seen that they're not Double XP but rather a 50% bonus, and about twice what I would've paid for *Double* XP - no thanks.
-
I haven't purchased (nor even seen) one yet, but if I deem the price reasonable I may buy them. Double XP weekends are the only time the levelling speed seems tolerable to me, the rest of the time it feels so tediously slow.
-
The power I used to like was Instant Healing. With it as an always-on toggle I could largely ignore the clicks in Regeneration, which made it feel more like Regeneration and less like Self-Only Empathy.

Quote:I didn't say anything about the Black Wolf. I don't care about the Black Wolf. It is, in fact, not the smallest part of my consideration. There is no costume set that I would randomly pay 2400+ points for simply because I wasn't lucky enough to get it at around the 800 point mark.Yes but there is a difference between the OVERALL chance you have to get different things with these Super Packs. Sure the odds for the Black Wolf in particular are relatively low. But the odds are so phenomenally in our favor to get the complete Elemental costume set within 20-30 packs that it's just about as close to being strictly deterministic as the sun rising in the East tomorrow morning. Buy 30 packs and you'll have the set.
I simply find fault with your seeming willingness to look at one part of the Super Pack system and label the entirety as "pure random gambling". Just because the Black Wolf is hard to get doesn't mean that ANYTHING else you could get from Super Packs is. *shrugs* -
You can disagree if you like, but "gambling" is serviceable shorthand for spending money to have a chance at desirable returns. The only thing I desire from the Super Packs is the costume set and I refuse to bank on my luck in acquiring it. I avoid numerous other randomly packaged items for similar reasons.
-
As I recall, it took me 22-24 packs to get the full costume when I did it on Beta. I have bad luck with gambling, so I've avoided the attempt with real money.

Did I just see Betty White wielding a flaming chainsaw while mounted on centaur John Ritter?

Quote:Actually, if there are any humans around, one could say they're based on the endurance and perseverance of humanity. Not that they deserve to persevere. Lousy bunch of glass half empty pessimists.I did. They are still based "the fall of humanity". I seriously don't care if that is the starting point for the greatest comedy of all time, it is still based on ****.

Quote:And such worlds can be comedic rather than depressing, or didn't you read the entry you linked to?As for the other, it is still a ****sack world.

Quote:My point is that I've only rarely run across a post-apocalyptic setting that manages to *be* depressing, regardless of what may or may not be implied. The point is when you're dealing with a post-apocalyptic setting grim misery is generally implied.
Quote:Arguing otherwise is akin to starting a debate on the color of the sky on a clear summer's day. -
I sometimes play Defenders. My first 50 was a FF/Rad Defender.
I occasionally play them now, but various things annoy me. The lack of mez protection in most sets being a major contributor. I tend towards FF/ and Sonic/ for that reason. -

Quote:I was discussing the series as a whole. I believe I partially parsed it out earlier in the discussion by mentioning that the first movie was the darkest of the three. And I specifically made a man with no name reference due to the second movie.I was under the impression we were discussing the first one.
Road Warrior was definitely more of a post-apocalyptic Leone western in tone...and the less said about Beyond Blunderdome the better.
However, the first movie had less of the post-apocalyptic vibe, IMO. Watching it is almost like watching a movie in a completely different setting than the two sequels. And I'd say it has worse pacing than the sequels as well. -
Quote:And John McClane was just a dude with a gun and no shoes having a really bad day. More than once.He isn't battling wizards & monsters, he hasn't trained himself to a superhuman peak of perfection, he's just a dude with a car and a gun.
Dr. Henry Jones, Jr was just a dude with a whip fetish and a penchant for running afoul of Nazis.
Alex Murphy was just a good cop who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
And let's not get into the depressing life of Martin Riggs.
Many action heroes have (or have had) tough lives. -
If it doesn't depress me, it ain't depressing. Having all the elements that *could* elicit a particular emotional response does not necessarily make the whole emotive in that respect. More than the sum of its parts and all that.

Quote:You're easily depressed.Conan was depressing, most Eastwood-starred westerns were depressing, and almost every iteration of Batman (Hi Adam West!) was depressing.
Quote:Just because the stories are entertaining and action-packed, doesn't make the premise and background any less depressing.
