It's too bad, really. Marvel so rarely puts out a series that I can really enjoy, and Earth's Mightiest Heroes has been one such rarity.

Quote:I see the point went well over your head there. There's absolutely nothing wrong with being creative. The reason it's not the ideal solution in this environment is because creativity doesn't guarantee that you'll get the name you want. The *only* thing that guarantees you'll get the name you want is to get it first. Nor does getting it first necessarily mean you were being creative.
And LOL at the "Being creative isn't the ideal solution in this environment" comment. Creativity, how evil! >.< -
If that were true the issue in question wouldn't even have existed - there wouldn't have been servers specifically designated as "European" in the first place that needed to be merged when it became no longer cost effective to maintain them separately.

Quote:I was surprised to get "Bad Blood" when "Hemotoxin" was unavailable (that character is currently on the backburner now that I know Bio Armor is in the works). And I have to admit that I like "Bad Blood" better.I was rather surprised to get Texas Tech for a robotics MM about a year after CoV came out.
I was unsurprised when "Crimson Arrow" was taken right after Archery came out, and was already prepared to fall back on that character's real name "Eustace Black".
It's rare that I get stumped on a name. But the person who got "Crimson Arrow" wasn't being more creative than me, and I certainly wasn't being more creative than the next person who might want "Bad Blood".
And being willing to compromise certainly isn't being creative, and by its very nature compromise isn't the ideal solution.
Being creative isn't the ideal solution in this environment, being first is. Which is ultimately not an ideal environment, regardless of the number of ways to cope with it. -
Quote:Anyone could say they're a "god" or got their powers from an accident of science. The distinction just doesn't work. Thus, the only way the racism angle works is if all people with powers suffer...Some of them are ostracized, Spider-Man being the biggest example. Most of the others aren't ostracized because the general public knows they're not mutants but rather got their powers in some sort of accident. (Which is part of why the public fears Spider-Man, because most people think he is a mutant. That, and JJJ's decades-long smear campaign.) That's the difference. The point of X-Men is that h0m0 (seriously, forum software??) sapiens feels threatened by the rise of h0m0 superior, not just because they're different.
Quote:And on the flip side, you have the Civil war storyline, where the entire point was a movement that desired the registration of not just mutants but all super-powered beings, which is as logical an extension of anti-mutant paranoia as you're gonna get. -
Quote:The need to adapt is caused by the system, ergo it's not the fault of the creator. But honestly? Unwillingness to adapt in general is the fault of the creator, and not of the name system.

If you've already imagined a character complete with name, and the system prevents you from having that name, the failure isn't with the imagination. And the person who got that name before you doesn't have a better imagination, they just had the good fortune to get the name first.

If your "Pets" tree only benefits pet users, it's not very "Hybrid".

Quote:If that's the case, imagine what would happen if you ignored local customers to better serve the internet/mail-order guy across the pond. What I found unexpected was that I've spent close to a thousand pounds on a game to be told sorry your losing your name, in my case to someone who opened a trial account to grief and nothing was done about it.
In my business I prefer to look after my loyal customers rather then someone that walked into my shop for the first time yesterday, luckily it seems to work for me.
If I adopted NCsoft's approach to my customers, I'd most probably have my windows smashed and my head caved in. -
Ditto. In the case of the Judgement powers, I'd have it give the player a melee-ish range aura that does high damage and knockup for maybe 10 seconds or so. Then you could run though whichever enemies you wanted. They'd probably have to limit the number of time it could affect an individual enemy...

When you unlock the slot you should be able to view all the potential powers for it in the Tailor screen.
I wish there was some sort of Mega Ground Punch or Juggernaut Headcrush type Judgement power, myself. As it is, I couldn't find anything I liked for my WP/SS tanker and thus will be skipping the Judgement power on that character. -
The kicky move seems like the easiest to me. It can be viewed as purely super-physical. It always struck me more as super speed than teleportation, anyway.
I don't exactly recall the animation for the fire one, but if it's a breath attack it could easily be rationalized as mundane fire breathing techniques combined with the traits of super strength and endurance. -
I really enjoyed the arc, but it made me sorta dislike Penny as a character (love her powerset though). Perhaps that's because I've got no reason to feel any sympathy for Clockwork King.
I was particularly amused by the 'see the first mission in the Lady Grey TF for more info' footnote, as it was very reminiscent of reading comic books.
I took Penny with me at the end to give her a chance to redeem herself. I was hoping for some dialogue while we were fighting Clamor but was disappointed. Ah well.
I was also disappointed when I finished the arc and clicked on the SSA access button, saw part two of the arc, clicked on it and was put into part one again. I guess part two must not actually be available yet. -
The problem, I'd say, is that the racism analogy doesn't work well when you have a bunch of other superheroes running around who aren't ostracized for having powers/being different. Of course, I'd be perfectly happy with dropping that aspect of the X-Men.

Quote:Maybe they've *seen* Surrogates, but continually forget about it. I know I do. And I'd say it was a good movie. Just didn't stick with me.DARPA invests in "Surrogates". Sadly the article's author, like most people, only saw Avatar.

The huge group sizes for trials is one of the things that puts me off of them. It becomes so chaotic that I can't really tell what's going on. I just keep an eye on the chat to get a vague idea of what I should be doing, click powers and hope for the best.

I was 6. I don't remember much except I was enrolled in some bizarre once-a-week gifted class away from my regular schooling where we were learning French. I know that sometime around then I got a Tron activity book and became mildly obsessed with the aesthetic of that universe. And I remember seeing Star Trek II in the theatre and crying at the end. But I didn't see most of those other movies for a few years yet.

Quote:So, what you're saying is that you lack emotions and have a need to defeat 'living' targets. So basically PvE'rs prefer min/maxing builds to be able to beat non moving targets who attack once an hour. And they also are able to get emotional and upset over what some kid says to them on a video game, which frankly is just sad.

If everyone were guaranteed to be in the same zone at all times of day it might be spam. As it is, every few minutes or so there could be people who just logged in, people who just zoned in, or people who just finished a trial and might need fresh meat that did not see the prior message(s).

I didn't see that comment. I saw a comment of defeat and resignation bereft of any sort of complaint.
