Steam might bring in more players, but, as was mentioned, CoH already was on Steam and the decision was made to break off from the service. Presumably, the reasons behind the decision still exist, making the whole issue moot.

There just aren't that many games that come out solely on PC which I'm interested in, and my general preference when there's a console version is to get (by purchase or rental) that version and avoid most of the headaches of PC gaming. Out of the eight games from the list you gave that I actually played - I rented Mass Effect, Borderlands, and Ghostbusters for about $4 each; I purchased Freedom Force before Steam existed; I bought Arkham Asylum for the 360, I bought Civ V (for $10 as I recall) and Spore for the PC; and I borrowed The Witcher from a friend (literally - box and all) and discovered that I was glad I didn't buy it.
And out of the ones I played on PC, there's absolutely no reason I would've wanted them to be tied to an online service (indeed, in Spore's instance the program's built-in online service was annoying enough). -
Quote:If you use Invisibility, you won't get caught unless you were going to get caught regardless of stealthiness. There is no "you are trying to sneak but might get caught anyway" situation to validate Stealth unless you are specifically intending to enter combat with it on - if it's not meant for combat, it is completely redundant.Stealth is meant for when you are trying to sneak but might get caught anyway. That's why it has the movement penalty and end cost. It allows you to fight back without having to detoggle first. But just because a power can be used in combat doesn't mean it's meant to be.
Concealment is a convenience-of-travel pool. It has a toggle purely for travelling from one place to another (Invisibility), and a toggle for getting around in combat (Stealth). It is somewhat analogous to the Super Jump/Combat Jumping and Fly/Hover setup. -
I disliked the system for a myriad of reasons, though I did use it briefly awhile back (as I recall, it was the only avenue to play a certain game I was interested in at the time). But putting aside false positives and resolving program conflicts and the impracticality of having to be online to play some offline games, I believe the main reason I started boycotting it was due to it not playing nice with my programmable gamepad.

Personally, I dislike Steam. But wasn't CoH available through the service back before it had to be run from the NCSoft Launcher?

I remember some men *without* hats... but I don't recall this 'man with a hat' you speak of...

You could be pulling Plasmatheric Energy out of your foes *into* your hands along free-floating counter-temporal ley lines.

While I recall things like Airwolf, Merlin's Shop, and McHale's Navy, I'm afraid Borgnine has been cemented in my brain as Mermaid Man. At the merest mention of him I hear Mermaid Man crying "Eeeevil!" in my head.

Many of my characters can empty their blue bars efficiently enough without Hasten. Some of the ones that don't, would do so with Hasten active. Aside from those two reasons, it's a click buff, which is something I find generally unappealing.

That article seemed to me to blither on at great lengths without actually saying much.

Quote:I think it *should* happen, but I don't think it *will* due to the aforementioned potential backlash. And I'm not crusading for it to happen. It's not currently removing any of the epidermis from my proboscis.Yes, that is why most (all?) of us in this conversation seem to agree that such changes should not actually happen, or at least should not be made lightly: the backlash from players who like things as they have been for years would be enormous.
That doesn't mean the design decisions that led here were all good ones, though.

A lot of people didn't like ED or the GDN, either. I didn't like when Regen got turned from a set I could happily allow to passively sit in the background into an annoying clickfest. And I imagine that people who abuse exploits for a long time aren't very happy when they get fixed (indeed, some of the outcries against AE fixes have been in that vein). Life goes on.

Quote:Not that being "good at the game" has anything to do with getting a lot of influence, but if someone wasn't very good at the game then they would need the extra help of set bonuses more than someone who was good at the game.If you think 100 mil is a lot, well, you just arent very good at this game.
Before I ever knew of IO cost I was of the opinion that there should be a hard cap on the bonuses they granted.
I've also long thought that the Fighting pool should be largely useless to Scrappers, Brutes, Stalkers, and especially Tankers... whilst being of slightly more use (than currently) to everyone else. -

Will she be fighting evil by moonlight and winning love by daylight?

I can't trust the opinion of anyone who applauds for a screen.

You gotta say "YOU! SHALL NOT! PASS!" and then *BAM!* you have the power of white.

Indeed. It seems to me that if Recharge is an issue that needs to be addressed, then, like Defense, the main avenue to address the issue should be to attack the various IO global recharge bonuses. It's my opinion that there should've just been global caps in place rather than the five-bonuses-of-a-certain-numeric-value limit.

As far as I'm concerned, the best Knockback powers aren't Knockback powers but rather Knockup powers. But after considering those I would move on to the single target powers with high magnitude Knockback.

Quote:As I understand it, they have a limited number of connector points (or something of the sort) on the base model to use for costume pieces. Thus, for this sort of option to be separate from existing options would require more than just adding a new option bar to the UI.Or just make a new option bar like they did with capes and auras.
I would love to have separate elbow and knee/thigh options, but I don't think it will happen.
