Those dirty stinking yellow faeries... ah, it's been too long since I saw that movie. I think I still have the tabletop RPG rules somewhere - an entertaining book that mentions a sequel which never occurred.

  3. Not only do I find myself *not* finishing most of these quotes, I find myself sadly wondering what I was supposed to be finishing them with. "Sadly" because I'm familiar with the sources.

We could have boots that make little "DINK!" graphics pop up. Or a path aura of the same. Then we would live in terror of the silent DINK!
  5. Putting aside that the animations seem pretty darn vanilla to me, "classic comic book blasting" often involves knocking people back.

The 'no SFX' option would only solve the issue if the 'SFX' option itself was only heard by the player who selected it.

Mind you, I'm personally all for a team of 8 characters creating a cacophonic chorus with their chainsawds of DOOM.
  7. This is the episode I was reminded of, though it was from the more recent series so it couldn't've been seen in the 70s.

Before you know it you're starting up weird, cultish groups with some guy who may not actually exist and enacting convoluted plots to disrupt society. No one needs that kind of stress in their life.
  11. I think the idea would cause far too much outrage if implemented, though it wouldn't affect me much. I rarely make Scrappers or Brutes. I tend to favour Tankers over them for the inherently higher defensive capability (particularly important for me as I tend to eschew Tough/Weave and do not diligently delve into IOs). And then Stalkers because I generally like stealth-based classes.
  12. Ah, thankee. My brain can let go of that niggling detail now and commence with pestering me about other things it can't quite recall - probably some sort of song lyric.

Not at all. This is why I asked in the "ALL BOOK SPOILERS" thread. I'm pretty sure if the series was still fresh in my mind that I should already see who it is.

Unsure when I'll pick up the book again. TERA is consuming most of my free time, and now if my attention should wane from that there's Beta stuff going on here...

Indeed, one of the reasons I tend to go for Tankers instead of Brutes is that I often find myself getting hit with that "dead" debuff as a Brute before I can adequately build up Fury and leverage the same debuff against the enemies.

Heck, I tend to find Tankers to be merely adequate to what I expect in regards to superheroic sturdiness...
  15. These will never be more awesome than the Porn Star EAT released in Issue 34.

  17. I'd pick number two, but I primarily look for sturdiness in a character.

In any case, my chief concern would be that the AT had adequate mez protection. The lack of it is a large part of what has made my Peacebringer frustrating to play (endurance problems being the next largest issue).

Isn't the point that we *might* be able to get this mythical combination with these IO changes?

  20. In my personal opinion, "imitation is flattery" up until you're making money off of someone else's work.

In my experience, many artists regularly draw/craft images of existing characters as well as their own. Indeed, for centuries "creativity" has involved the creation of imagery drawing on existing materials as much, if not moreso, than creating them from scratch.

I have always enjoyed drawing existing characters as much as my own. I've always enjoyed the thought exercise of creating them in various RPG systems. I once enjoyed crafting various vehicles/robots as closely as I could with LEGO blocks. And in any video game with good character creation I will inevitably attempt to create various existing people/characters (aside from this game, I think one of the best games for superheroes was in the WWE: Day of Reckoning series on the Gamecube).

But none of that means beans to what you can get away with in this game. While I have several costumes saved that are recreations of existing characters, I tend to behave myself on Live. Though I did have to argue with the GMs over one character, I made a slight colour change and haven't had a problem since. On Beta I'm far more likely to go with blatant copies.

  22. A quick question: I was finally making a bit of progress through Dance with Dragons (before all my attention got devoured by a shiny new game) and I got to the part where Tyrion starts travelling with Griff. Who is Griff, really? I feel like I should know, and the banter between him and Tyrion seemed to hint at the identity as if I should know...

Lazy to open Mids but say your run of the mill Tanker/Brute is sitting to about 80% S/L (spitballing), and at that point you aren't going to really get any benefit. Now if they did something like Elusivity where you would get off-primary res from your toggles that might be interesting. It's still better to build to softcap your defense, then let your resistance soak up the rest I'd wager.
It could potentially make a great deal of difference for a Super Reflexes Tanker...
