More like a Bird of Prey decimated by eight Galaxy Class starships.

    Worst. Analogy. EVAR!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Only if you have some unreasonable dislike of Star Trek. Without the cloaking device and ability to sneak attack, a Bird of Prey is no match for a Galaxy Class starship - let alone eight of them. Furthermore, those Federation bastiches are constantly finding ways to detect the Bird of Prey despite its cloaking device. This places it in much the same position as the Stalker versus eight heroes, making it a highly analagous situation.

That's kind of like a wolf complaining that eight well-armed sheep shot him on sight.

Yes, because Post-Pet controllers and Masterminds wouldn't be overpowered in PvE if they could never be harmed yet still do incredible amounts of damage. Get over it.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Yes, because Personal Force Field doesn't accomplish the same thing in PvE and isn't still in a Secondary that can be picked by Controllers and Masterminds.

You know why PFF wasn't nerfed? Because it's pretty trivial to get a hit through it in PvP.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yup. And it doesn't necessarily require picking up two other powers you may not want or need to get it, either.

Besides which, if that were truly the problem with Phase Shift, there are better ways to take care of it. Such as making targetted click powers like pets, Ice Patch, etc. phase with the character or simply shut off when the character phases. This would certainly lend a smidge more strategic usefulness to offensive phasing powers as well.

PvP and the arena are good additions to this game. It brought more options for fun.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Such as the "option" of the 30 second Phase Shift... oh wait, that's not an option, it's being forced on the rest of us. And it certainly isn't fun. Tramples on concepts, for sure, but fun?
  5. In other words: PVP sucks, avoid it like the plague, it's not worth the time and debt (and there will be debt as all of those unfair conditions will often be planned to happen to your detriment amongst NPCs).
  6. It's a mildly annoying change, but I'm more distressed by the animation change it went through. Now, instead of holding his arms straight out to the side, my character drops them limply to his side while spinning. And me without a respec to get out of it.
  7. [ QUOTE ]
If it's an intended change, I don't think I like it. You shouldn't have to be Natural origin just to play a non-gimped Assault Rifle user.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It doesn't affect the Assault Rifle user; it's a change for a temporary power called Stolen SMG that you get for doing a certain mission (or finishing a particular story arc, I forget which).
  8. [ QUOTE ]
This is actually the point of the change. A yellow boss is supposed to be tougher than a player. A player shouldn't be able to easily fight 2 at once period. The fact that anyone sees is it as an expectation shows that the game was broken.

    [/ QUOTE ]

A yellow boss (-1 to the player) shouldn't be much tougher than a yellow minion (+1 to the player). In essence, a yellow threat should remain fairly consistent, otherwise the colour coding becomes meaningless.

And yes, being a primarily defensive set - especially Invulnerability - I expect to stand up to any two non-Psi yellows fairly well (after all - three whites essentially equal two yellows and one hero equals three whites). That's my compensation for doing pathetic damage whilst my defensive toggles which are supposed to be doing an adequate job of keeping me alive are steadily draining my End and keeping me from being able to attack for a sustained period of time.
  9. I'm not so much looking at what I could do in the past, as I have certain expectations of "Invulnerability." I can still get by with my stone (non-granite unless they change the crappy transformation to at least match the size of the character) and fire tankers even though I may not be etirely happy with them. Pre-I5 I wasn't entirely happy with Invulnerability (the glowieness and toggle-management annoyed me conceptually) but at least I felt more like an Invulnerable character and less like Just-slightly-tough Guy. Now, a fight with two yellow Tsoo bosses leaves me running for the hills in the red - with three resist Inspirations and one big Luck used and Dull Pain as well. Huzzah.
  10. Whether they're part of the 'minority internet hive-mind' or not, it seems that most people who purchase an MMORPG would be making an informed decision. After all, getting in on a game with a monthly fee is not something you do blindly. Part of the information one should know, when getting into such a game, is obviously the launch date - because only the most abysmally ignorant person thinks that simply having the disc in hand allows them to play the MMORPG.

That said, I don't think NCSoft has to worry overmuch about who they'll be losing due to the disc being available in several locations right now.

And as for video game launch days, all I have to say is: "Mortal Monday."

Well.. "liar" is not the right word. The upcoming ner.. er.. "change for the benefit of the game".. is a large change to the enhancement system, not to the powersets.

    [/ QUOTE ]

A large indirect change to the powersets is still a large change to the powersets. I'd say "liar" is a most apt term.
  12. The Fire event was a lot of fun. My only problem with it was the big finale: there was an explosion without any warning that killed everyone nearby, including a level 50 Tanker.

But all that debt was justified by the measley little badge, right? :P

Actually, it would be if you got the firefighting equipment as a permanent power along with the badge.
  13. 1. As many others have pointed out, this should be a Blaster secondary. Playing a Trick Arrow/Archery Defender feels like playing a poor man's Blaster.

    2. Ice Arrow should be a single-target slow effect with minor DoT, IMO. This would keep it from making Entangling Arrow pointless.
