These are things needed to draw WELL. Anyone can learn to draw, sure... but there ARE certain things that people are born with to a much higher degree than others. Given the same amount of time, someone with the inherent ability to draw well will always draw better than the person who couldn't draw well in the first place.

The one thing I've really noticed with people who cannot easily learn to draw well? Shaky hands and lack of refined Hand-Eye coordination.

    I predicted this

I definitely notice it, when trying to kill SR Scrappers. Between missing attacks and having the ones that land resisted, it takes what seems like forever to work down that last bit of hp.

I see alot of talk about Focused Accuracy...I guess you'll have that on auto click eh? though I'd find Hasten better to have set for it...

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Considering it's a Toggle, I don't think there'll be a conflict there.

    Placate Nerf

    [ QUOTE ]
But, I'll be more happy with the one shot nerf. Why? Becausse their point is to let you retaliate. Very, very few attacks can get off before a stalker's second attack.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's why I PVP the way I do. I enjoy people fighting back. Makes me feel a well-earned sense of victory, if/when I win.

    [ QUOTE ]
What does that mean? Fully defianced and angry blasters.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Unless the Stalker is smart and only uses AS as a finisher on Blasters. A shame we don't see too many of those Stalkers.

    Placate Nerf

    [ QUOTE ]
in PvP an average Stalker (which I have met many of) do not realize it affects everyone around you and makes you unattackable by everyone for the duration of placate,

    [/ QUOTE ]

I've yet to experience that without some work, if the teammates of my target have +Perception.

    [ QUOTE ]
if you watch the "Bad Day" video, you will notice he turns around to placate the Tanker then turns back to attack his original target.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Both times I did that, my target either couldn't see me in the first place or they didn't bother to attack back and, instead, tried to escape. And that Controller wasn't my original target. The Tanker was. =P The Controller had just been too much of a pest in the hour I was hunting down that Tanker.

    [ QUOTE ]
The note in the patchnotes did not look like it will be single-target placate, from what it says, it will just make you visible enough for everyone to see you after an attack.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It'll still be a single-target Placate, I'm sure. We just won't be as invisible as before. Not a big problem, since after the initial strike, everyone with +Perception and their mother is on you, anyway.
  6. You sure? They can pick it up from the start. It has no pre-req, once you hit the appropriate level. On your next level-up, you can drop 3 slots into it, if you'd like. Then, the following level-up, you can drop 2 more into it and now you have it 6-slotted.

When I think about it, as a whole... I'm not at all against Stalkers having a snipe. However, I am a bit against Stalkers being easily hidden beyond the perception range... though, I'd also disagree on making them easy to see and unable to make use of the SURPRISE factor involved in sniping.
  7. [ QUOTE ]
The stalkers most damaging attack doesnt drain all of his indurance and leave him stunned like a blaster's does.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Stalkers also lack the AoE with enough damage to call for such a drain.
  8. Tenryuu

    Placate Nerf

The Hold argument really only applies to Recluse's Victory and the Arena.

However, in all current PVP zones and in the Arena, there lies an issue. The Stormie can just shove the Stalker into a mob of friendly NPCs to off them or pin them into a hole/corner so that they're detained, effectively perma-"holding" the Stalker unless that Stalker is EA or has Teleport. That's soon to end, but it's still a current annoyance.

As Kahoru said, it affects all melee ATs. Not just Stalkers.
  9. Tenryuu

    I predicted this

Snipes that DO crit... only to equal less than a Blaster snipe. I'm not saying this is a bad thing. I like it. I DO wish that the devs would move the Snipe into the fourth tier, though. It'd be more of an earned convenience, at that point, and less common among Stalkers.

My only complaint is that I won't be able to use that Water Spout attack anywhere but in the Arena or Recluse's Victory. Not that I expected anything else. Just that such conceptually cool attacks are only available in the end-game. D:

    I predicted this

Now, they'll all have to a) learn how to make something other than a quick kill or b) actually team. Aww, man. =( Life sucks!
  11. [ QUOTE ]
Do not underestimate defiance, many will say "oh but even brawl will kill us when the defiance bar becomes useful", I have seen a good Blaster pop purples after intentionally letting his health hit under 1/3 and nail even Inv Brutes running dullpain. I personally have done this vs frostfire on my Blaster, popped a few purples and he could not even hit me and I did him in 3 hits.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's how I played mine. I wouldn't always do it, but in times of great need, it was a nice way to make use of it and overcome.

    [ QUOTE ]
Stalkers have Castle on their side? Can you explain your reasoning?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Because he originally came in as a Stalker rep, I'm sure. Whether he tries to make things easier for Stalkers, in general, I can't really say... but I can say that I don't like him due to a certain Stalker change he wishes to push in. >/
  12. [ QUOTE ]
What now will dominators bring to a team when almost everyone now has an immobilize AND a hold available to them? the answer is nothing.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Single Target Hold < AoE Hold, AoE Sleep, Cone Confuse, AoE Immobilize
Cone Immobilize < AoE Hold, AoE Sleep, Cone Confuse, AoE Immobilize

Sure, if you get EVERYONE to stop what they're doing (most likely damaging the opposition), they could perform the role of a Dominator... but why would you? Which of us to say that these Holds and Immobilizes would work 100% of the time? Which is to say that they'll even last as long as a Dominator's?

But I guess, if you want, you could say that Corruptors bring nothing to a team, now, because Brutes and Stalkers get ranged attacks. Masterminds bring nothing to a team, because everyone else will have a pet.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
Good point...however, I think you underestimate just how far a two or three range SO moonbeam will carry. The other non interuptable attacks are more effective dmg wise, but if a line of stalkers fires off 8 moonbeams, it will be possibly LESS effective for dmg, BUT, will be effective enough to do the job, WITH ZERO RISK!! By the time the poor sniped souls team sees where the snipes came from, much less travel the distance to close for combat, the whole squad of stalkers can be hundreds of yds away and rehidden setting up the next target.

Its not the tactic itself I am against, its the zero risk factor. the devs have basically eliminated the zero risk stuff from pve, introducing somthing like that into pvp at this point is asking for trouble.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not trying to discredit anything you've said, because you've brought up quite a few good points. I just wish to point out that I believe a team of Stalkers SHOULD be able to take down a single target without risk. While not snipers, a full team of Scrappers, Blasters, and Tankers take out solo villains and small groups of villains with no risk (apart from outside forces).

As for the Alpha and SS/SJ away thing... I've ad this happen to me a number of times and it never ceases to annoy me. Happened to my MM with a Broadsword Scrapper. Happened to my Blaster with a Corruptor. Happened to my Scrapper with a Stalker. Happened to my Stalker with a Blaster. I just want a stand-up fight. I really hate the SS/SJ combo...
  14. [ QUOTE ]
    Annoyances to Stalkers?
    Tanks
    Defenders

    [/ QUOTE ]

I always thought the annoyances were Blasters and Scrappers.

    [ QUOTE ]
The one thing I am happy about is Castle finally realized how dominant stalkers have been across all servers in pvp compared to other villians and heroes.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It doesn't help that most of the villains in the zones are Stalkers who hit-n-run on Defenders and Controllers.

    [ QUOTE ]
When you keep pressing the hospital button because you are dying to attacks you never saw coming from an enemy who can do massive critical damage at extreme range, your little dinky metal stick will not look as good.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I would've first asked if they've ever died to a single base-damage Blaster Snipe. If they said "yes," then I'd have carried on as you did. If "no," which is the most likely answer, I'd have stopped there.

As for the whole Stealth Cap thing? You'll definitely see a Stalker, once they use their Snipe.

    [ QUOTE ]
I could be wrong (and hope I am), but I am thinking Stalkers + Snipes = not the brightest idea I have seen.

    [/ QUOTE ]

A critical Stalker Snipe deals less damage than a base Blaster Snipe.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
Agreed. Also, giving pretty much everyone else a pet, some which are quite strong, seems to take away from the uniqueness of MMs imo. Especially if they can be controlled.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I doubt they can be controlled.

Why should stalkers be any different from anyone else? You show me a scrapper that can jump into the middle of a smart team and take them all out single handedly.

    [/ QUOTE ]

show me a stalker that can jump into the middle of a smart team and take them all out single handedly.

maybe regen but i know for a fact that blaster can output enough damage to kill a stalker in 2 hits in 2 seconds.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not even Regen. I've tried. *cackles*
  17. [ QUOTE ]
Oh, are you kidding me? Stalkers are going to get a snipe attack that does critical hit damage....The same damage that's currently NOT resistable in game?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I could've sworn it was stated that they can crit from Hide. Not that the entire thing was critical damage. So, yes. HALF of it will be the same damage that's currently NOT resistable in-game.

    [ QUOTE ]
Well of course I guess we should wait for it to hit test and try things out, but how many 8 man stalker teams do you see lining up snipes on the same poor scrapper who wont even know what hit em?

    [/ QUOTE ]

That same Scrapper that most likely has Focused Accuracy and is paired up with someone running Tactics? Not saying that this will make the Scrapper safe. Just saying that it'd be hard to get into such a bad situation without a way to combat it.

Who would win? Ghost Sharks or Snakes on a Plane?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Which type of Snakes on a Plane?! *points to sig*
  19. [ QUOTE ]
Whats sad is that i actually know who and what he's talking about which makes me feel extremely old. Admit it Jack, you stole the Snakes design from Nag and Nagaina (who i rooted for in the movie).

    [/ QUOTE ]

My sister is only 18 and knows about Rikki Tikki Tavi... so it doesn't show much for our age. =P As for the Snakes, they moreso resemble the Yuan-Ti in the Advanced Dungeons & Dragons Monstrous Manual... which has David "Zeb" Cook listed under Design Concept.

((yes, I'm aware that it strays from CoH into CoV D: ))
  20. [ QUOTE ]
Nonetheless, running around whipping off some power with a visual manifestation unique or characteristic of, say, Ghost Widow or Captain Mako still makes clear a distinct association with those persons/beings. ("Spirit Sharks" comes to mind.) To me it smacks of the idea that they "gave" me that power. I've disliked that aspect of the Patron Powers from the moment they were first revealed to us. For someone like me, finding out the plot tie-in additionally fixes the pool choice just abrades an already sore spot.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Admittedly, the Patron-flavoured powers puts a slight damper on things. Not to assume you like anime, but it's easy to soften the blow, having watched a lot of it in my lifetime. A more recent example would be Naruto, in which each clan has their own special power and it's passed down to multiple members within. Therefore, you can usually tell who belongs to what clan by their abilities (not including those who try copying techniques). Same happened in other big name cartoons like Dragonball Z, where a majority of the Z Fighters learned the Kamehameha while studying under Roshi.

I'll restate that I'm not saying this is okay. Just listing a way to soften the blow to personal style/concept. While your powers may be flavoured to the Patron, it's more like a signature power passed down from Teacher to Student. I know that my half-dragon character flinging Spirit Sharks will be a bit odd... but I'll manage.

It's Cobra, a ruthless terrorist organization determined to rule the world. It's Hydra. It's AIM

    [/ QUOTE ]

I KNEW IT! AOL Instant Messenger is an evil organization bent on destruction and world domination!

On a side note (and not made in reference to the poster I'm replying to): I love how, on these boards, the Student/Teacher or Partner relationships are automatically seen as becoming someone's lackey.

If anyone really needs a real example of what I'm saying to grasp the concept, I'll be happy to present a couple.

    - If you're mowing someone's lawn for cash, does this make you the landowner's lackey?
    - If you're in a self-defense class, learning techniques to better defend/empower yourself, are you the teacher's lackey?
    - If you merge your group of friends with a friend's group of friends, does that make you your friend's lackey?

I'm not defending the permanence of the Patron Pools, but I AM against the slinging of the term Lackey for no reason. After all, noone stated that you have to SERVE these people.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
Well, they already get stuns, so I don't see it as being such a huge problem. It's not like everyone facing stalkers isn't already clearminded.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think the worry is that Fear isn't nearly as resisted as Disorient is.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
It really does make sense *story-wise* that after you've committed to be Ghost Widow's lackey/henchman/whatever that the other patrons are going to consider you an enemy and won't give you squat.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is reinforced by the lack of love (or even "like") between the signature four (which may even extend to Numero Uno). It's bad enough that they don't trust one another. It definitely brings along the question of "Why would they trust someone who was sided with an enemy not even moments before?"

    ----------------------------

The counter-argument will always be "But I don't want to lackey to them!" So... don't? "Co-exist" with them and mooch off of what they know/have like a good villain. You'll get your chances to fight the other three (if I remember correctly) and possibly Lord Recluse and Statesman. If you're such a good RPer, you can always say "I destroyed Arachnos... but I spared so-and-so (whoever you sided with), because they still have some use for me."

It's not like you'll ever be able to overthrow Arachnos or rule the world, in-game, anyhow. I guess that breaks immersion and one's ability to RP, just like the rest of the missions you take up. If you can ignore half of that for RP purposes, eventually sitting yourself in Mercy, having succeeded in dominating the planet (or those undercover demons of hell residing under the Atlas statue handing out influence to newbies after having supposedly exterminated mankind), then you can do it here, as well.

While I don't like the permanent part of the Patron Power Pool thing, it's not really worth stressing yourself over it.
  24. [ QUOTE ]
This makes me wonder about something. The Test server is there to help us avoid making power choices?

That seems to admit there is a need for a way avoid mistakes.

    [/ QUOTE ]

When you normally only get 3 Respecs, do you really want to waste them so hastily, when you can test it out multiple times in the Training Room with only one Respec, saving the others for times of need or boredom? Of course not. And so, the Copy Tool for the Test Server copies your character, respecs and all, so that you may fiddle with the options and not have to make an entirely uninformed choice. All done without fear of screwing over your Live character.

While the primary purpose of the Test Server is not this, it's definitely a good reason to use it. The idea applies to the Patron Pools, as well.

    [ QUOTE ]
Why would it be wrong to have this need fulfilled in a different way than the Test server? A trial period in-game would do the same thing.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Do you really want your permanent characters messed with in such a way?
  25. [ QUOTE ]
Videos of every power being used so we can see the animations before choosing, because frankly, some people wanna look good while being bad.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's actually one of my quirks.

"Eagle's Claw has the best damage in the MA set?! Screw that! It's ugly!"

"Laser Beam Eyes is decent? BAH! I'll get Energy Torrent, instead. At least that looks cool. Low damage? Pft. I don't care."

So, I do hope they at least show us footage of this stuff before expecting us to pick it.
