  1. Hooray for COV Displays. =D I have one of those in my bedroom.

And... I agree. Cuppa and Pos look nothing like I'd imagined. Posi looks much friendlier and Cuppa looks like my adopted sister. =O
  2. [ QUOTE ]

I have a sneaking suspicion that the Devs have deliberately set all the new powers in I7, including the PPPs to "Craptacular" just so they can ease up to balanced rather than having to nerf anything to balance it like it should be.

    [/ QUOTE ]

According to them, yes. I know a few of the other devs have stated it concerning other powers, previously, but the most recent was the bane of my Stalker existence (oddly enough) speaking on Gauntlet.

    [ QUOTE ]
We're testing this. We don't want to go overboard on it, then have to reduce its effectiveness later, which is a very real concern with this. This lead us to start off low, and build up from there. What you folks are testing currently is the 'second draft' of PvP Gauntlet.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Post

So, yes. They're probably doing this with the new sets and whatnot. Probably. One can't say for sure.
  3. [ QUOTE ]
I have to disagreee with that, without a movement power and only 15 min to do it... and with the bank and the jail being on opposite sides on the map. Every moment counts, I have gotten booted in the middle of the final fight more than half of the times i have tried sence they lowered the time from 20 min to 15.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Disagree all you want. It's doable with any AT at any level. All you have to do is not chit-chat or slack off in the destruction department.
  4. [ QUOTE ]
Please please take the boss out of the prison block. Move him downstairs or something but it is frustrating to expend all my endurance breaking out only to be killed by him because of no endurance, then having to repeat the process.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Try this: Stop attacking, while it has a shred of health left. Heal up. You've got nothing to worry about, time-wise, unless you've massively slacked throughout the course of the mission. Once you're full, finish it. Simple as that.
  5. Enforcers (one of them, that I know of, at least) grant Tactics and Maneuvers to your henchmen, but not to you. They only grant one, until you upgrade them. Don't recall which and won't be able to, since I deleted my Thug MM to prevent me from going overboard on leveling it, instead of testing for bugs.
  6. Why was I not informed that Water Spout is freakin' fun?! I am ashamed of you people.
  7. To be honest, the mission was easy. Not VERY easy, but easy regardless. I did this mission, twice. Once solo and the second time with a Mastermind friend. For a Dominator or Curruptor, I strongly suggest teaming with a Mastermind.

With the Fonts, make sure you're not huddled next to one another. That's possibly one of the worst things you can do. Hit'n'run. Run in, unload everything you can within 5-10 seconds, and then run out. Do not attempt to stand and fight, expecting little resistance, because that's the biggest mistake one can make. Sure, that can get a little annoying, but it's almost a surefire way to beat each font without fear of death.

In the final room, pull. That's all I can really say. Pull Calyfishstix, first. Get him into the hallway and do all you can to keep him from summoning his pets or finish him as quickly as possible. If you're alone, just pack some Lucks. You'll be alright. This may take a couple retreats, but survival is your priority.

Pointing Out the Obvious: Pulling is best done by a Mastermind who makes good use of the GoTo command.

Once Fishstix is dead, take out the Font in the room. Use the same tactic used on the others. Once that's done, take the essence and... well, I don't know how difficult Mako will be for anyone else, but he wasn't so bad for me. Granted, it was quite a battle and had quite the close call at the end (due to his version of MoG). When I teamed with the Mastermind, the Mastermind dropped due to Placate -> AS -> School of Sharks. and some lag Ah well. It turned out well in the end, anyhow.

The only deaths incurred during the mission were.... well, that ONE by the Mastermind, at the end.
  8. In Charleston, SC, Wal*Mart is the perfect place to find Thugs...

    ..seriously.
  9. Giant, head-sized cookies to both Oconnor and Primal. =D

    - Blade, Lazer, and Blazer were names of three of the Cobras in DodgeBall: A True Underdog Story.

    - Castor and Pollux Troy were inspired by the characters in the movie Face/Off.

    - Gades, the Sinistral of Destruction, was in both Lufia I and II. Very big guy who packs a mean punch (and yes, I'm quite the fan of those games).

Gives me a warm, tingly feeling in my big, bad heart to know that there are people who know these things. =D
  10. [ QUOTE ]
Castor and Pollux are figures in Greek Mythology, children of Zeus and Leda the swan and sibs to Helen of Troy. No idea about the others.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, yes. That, too. I honestly didn't think anyone would know that, so I didn't think to specify.

The names of my Thugs are all Game/Movie references. *gives you a big, head-sized cookie, anyhow* =O
  11. 1. I love the pistols (reminds of the DD44's in M64:Goldeneye, looks-wise) and the animations. The sideways shooting style (while ineffective in real life, some people do shoot like that) was a nice surprise. I love it.

    2. I love the Thug summon. Doesn't take too long to animate and is only intolerable in groups of Thug MMs. At least, to me. I think maybe a shorter whistle or a softer, quick double-whistle (just as you would call a dog) would be a little better, though.

I like when my asian thugs pop in and I get to upgrade'em. Makes me feel like a part of the Yakuza. =P

    3. I've been asking myself "Why are my Thugs mentally handicapped?" In Mayhem Missions, they like shuttle-running between the Large Metal Crates and myself. They'll attack anything else I tell them to... except those. Why do they stand next to cars and shoot, if I forget to take them off of Aggressive? Why do they not take GoTo commands well? They tend to run back and shoot things I don't want them to.

    4. While it's not a HUGE issue, shells ejecting from revolvers is a bit silly (though makes for a nice trail on the floor).

    5. As someone had pointed out, before... please allow for some randomized hench-women (even in the Mercs and Ninja sets; man, kunoichi would be awesome to have).

Can't think of much else. Only made it to Lv13, so far.

    ----------------------------
    -My Thugs-
    (planned names, of course)

    First Tier:
    - Blayde
    - Laser
    - Blazer

    Second Tier:
    - Castor
    - Pollux

    Third Tier:
    - Gades

Cookies to those who can make out any of the three references. =O
  12. Oh! Durrr... My brain shut off while reading that. =( Sorry!
  13. [ QUOTE ]
Well, you just missed out on beating Mako. Supposedly, if you don't fail his first mission, he won't give you the extra other half of the story arc. You missed out on fighting 4 EBs that can two shot you, Calystix, and Mako himself.

..and getting tossed around by 12 Whirlpools.

If this is correct, after you fight McKnight, he'll tell you to come back at lvl 45. Can you confirm this for me?

PS - The respec was a freespec handed out this morning.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I can say that I did fail the very first mission... and was able to fight Mako himself in a very epic 1-on-1 that still has me giggling like an idiot. After that mission, I was then told to come back at 45. So, no, failing the first mission doesn't prevent you from fighting Mako. Dunno if I missed out on anything ELSE, though.

    I recall:
    - Timed Mission with Detention Field-happy Elite Boss.
    - Mission with KoA
    - Killing Mr. "Hey, buddy!"
    - Messenger Service
    - Lay the Smackdown on Mako and Calyfishstix.

I feel like I'm missing something, but that's all I can remember at the moment.

    [ QUOTE ]
fighting mako himself sounds kinda cool, but all those other EB's and calystix sounds annoying

    [/ QUOTE ]

It is... but it's worth it. Getting Placated and ASed by the big man himself was an honor. A shame I had to beat him into the ground.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
I like the Patron Powers, I like the reddish electricity, it's cool all around, imho. Sadly, hardly anyone seems to agree.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Same here.

I forget when Patrons were first mentioned. I know it was quite a while back, but when I heard about the chance to take up Makoor Ghost Widow (which, admittedly, disappointed me when I found that I'd have to take at least one dark blast power) as a Patron, I was as excited as could be. Then I noticed that a lot of people disliked the idea and I felt a bit stranded. Ah well. At least I'll be happy. =D
  15. [ QUOTE ]
I think it's pretty clear that obtaining these powers will be more in depth than a single AV fight.

    [/ QUOTE ]

We'll gain the powers in the same manner we earn other powers, I know... but how do you know that we won't have to fight one of the signature villains for the powerset to begin with? You know... in the Story Arcs and such. So, while we may not be beating an individual power out of them, we could very well be able to beat the powerset option out of them. I doubt it'll happen, but I can't say that we won't, for a fact. Neither can you. All we can do is say that it's very unlikely.

    [ QUOTE ]
And with the entire internet doublechecking the work, I'll take wikipedia over a select group of dictionographers.

    [/ QUOTE ]

When I want a word defined for me, I don't run to my neighbor and ask. I use a dictionary. No sense in getting second-hand information, no matter how correct it may be... most of the time. Especially when the appropriate source for such information isn't any further away.

    -----------------------------------------

    [ QUOTE ]
When I signed up for the Air Force, I took an oath to obey the President and all officers appointed over me. That doesn't mean that I spent all my time spreading rose petals in front of second lieutenants.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's actually a great example. Even down to the fact that each branch has their own little theme under the same 'umbrella.'
  16. [ QUOTE ]
Where's the option to pick up 7 of my buddies and just get into a fight with the patron and take the powers?

    [/ QUOTE ]

How do you know you don't get the chance to?

P.S. - The Dictionary is a much better source than Wikipedia as it cannot be altered by just any nobody on the internet.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
The direction of CoV is baffling to me on a certain level. I tend to over-analyze, of course, but to me, it seems Cryptic has decided to revert to arcade-stype, FPS gameplay in order to appeal to a younger audience. I dare not use the 'adolescent' word for fear of unwanted consequences.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's really how you worded all of it. Also, Arcade-style and FPS games aren't the only ones to require such destruction. RPGs and a few strategy games require the same destruction within a small timeframe. It's just more common in the ones you mentioned.

Ah well. To stray slightly more on-topic...

    [ QUOTE ]

It was mentioned that _Castle_ stated they were reconsidering the PPPs. Is there a link to that?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Urgh. If that's so... what about those of us who like certain existing pools? >/ Wretched people.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
What IS that power that made the NPC's float? I WANT IT!!!!!!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Soul Storm. Available to Stalkers and Corruptors, if they take Ghost Widow as a Patron.
  19. [ QUOTE ]
I've nearly completely soloed my Stalker to 40, as well.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Then you should know how you'll get through these Mayhem Missions.

    [ QUOTE ]
That, however, wasn't my question. How are we supposed to put out enough damage in the limited time we get to complete these ridiculous missions?

    [/ QUOTE ]

The same way we put out enough damage outside of Hide in both PVE and PVP. If all you do is "BU+AS->Run" then yes, I suppose you would have a big problem.

    [ QUOTE ]
And, they ARE ridiculous, you realize...?

    [/ QUOTE ]

To you, maybe. What about those of us who want a goal disguised as wanton destruction? Ah, right. I remember. We're adolescents who aren't into 'serious gaming.' Shame on us for being unlike you and not knowing what 'serious gaming' is.
  20. [ QUOTE ]
Not to whine on everyone's parade, but can you tell me exactly how a STALKER is supposed to do any of these missons?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Attack? Move? Placate? Assassin's Strike? The unnecessary concern is almost as amusing as people claiming that they couldn't do Bank Heist missions with their Stalkers in the early levels.
  21. [ QUOTE ]
Ask about the contact Kara the Scorpion and you'll find she was a "top-notch assasin."

    [/ QUOTE ]

Better than the "compliment" I got a couple months ago, where I apparently had a "awesome assasian strike." How'd he know I was asian? And how'd he know I was an a--... *quiets*
  22. [ QUOTE ]
    Bill after I7

    [/ QUOTE ]

    ROFL!

*shall be Captain Mako's cousin* =O
  23. [ QUOTE ]
Someone make a big deal about Patron costumes so we can get confirmation!

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'd never thought about it until now. It'd be freakin' awesome if we could get/use costume options dealing with our Patrons. *would love some Crab Spider armor* =O ..or even the blades on their forearms...
  24. [ QUOTE ]
I completely disagree. There is no such thing as the inherent ability to 'draw well'. Nobody just picks up a pencil and knows how to draw hands correctly, even the good artists.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I could never draw real people. I still can't, even after taking quite a few art classes over the years. However, my ability lay in the region of animated characters. That's fine with me. I know I'm good at what I can do, so having a limit doesn't bother me. You can't learn everything laid in front of you, whether you want to believe it or not. Time and experience can solve a few things. Not everything.

    [ QUOTE ]
Simply put, everyone starts off at crayon drawings. A few kids might be a bit more coherent in what they draw with crayons, but from a practical standpoint nobody starts out ahead. There's no magic gene that lets someone immediately draw the Virtuvian. Someone with "lots of talent" still has to start from scratch and learn the basics of anatomy the hard way; they start at 0 the same as non-artists.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's not a matter of starting out at different points. It's a matter of growth and potential. I believe that everyone has the potential to be 'good,' but only a few have the potential to be 'great.'

Like singing or fighting. Some people just... won't ever be able to sing, due to lack of control, no matter how long they practice. Some people could take self-defense classes for years of their life and never perfect it, due to a lack in reflexes or body strength. While you can always gain/refine muscle or practice your reflexes, you won't be able to achieve the same level as someone else... because we're all born with different flaws and perfections. It's the exact same with drawing/painting/etc.

    [ QUOTE ]
The kids you knew in school who were better at drawing were so because they wanted to draw, and had tons of drawings back at home to show for it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Back in school, I was one of those kids.

    [ QUOTE ]
If any talent is involved, it's only in realizing how much you suck at X, and having the drive to improve yourself until you are really good at X.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Unless, of course... you just can't get the hang of X and the closest you can get is W.

On a one on one fight, Stalkers aren't nearly as good.

    They're not? O_o;;;;;
