Quote:No, they're already unlocked from the beginning. When you create a new chara and access the costume window, you will immediately see all the costume slots that you bought. (For a newly-rolled chara, they will all look the same, of course.)I forget... do purchasable costume slots now have to be claimed through email?

I don't think we need a new powerset every month, even though it's nice to get new staff... er stuff. Powersets need a lot of work, and I'd rather have a well-done set with great animations in the next issue than something that was stitched together just to be available earlier.
(Also, the lists you all posted show that the developers are adding powersets all across the board, so perhaps there's even hope for another defensive (armor) powerset. We could really use one or more new defensive powersets, but I believe I mentioned this before.)

I just made two new charas to test this, and both had the extra costume slot I bought a while ago. I didn't check all my charas, but I didn't notice any missing costume slots over the last few days, either.
Perhaps you bought the costume slot directly before a backup was made, and when the account data was restored from that backup, the game "forgot" that you bought the costume slot? I suggest sending a /petition.

Quote:I am sorry if I created the impression that I don't care for the other archetypes. That's not true. Of course the developers should also add new powersets for the other archetypes. Now consider how your stance looks to the guy who has 7x7 combinations.
Bonus: You have 18x12x3 - three whole different archetypes to play the combinations with. 49 vs 648. And you think that your problem is you don't have enough variety. Poor dear.
However, while there seems to be a big difference between the available combinations for certain powersets, these numbers really don't tell the full story. A large amount of combinations means it's less likely that you run into another player who uses the same powerset combination. But this isn't about overall diversity. It's a player's personal charas' diversity that I'm concerned with. You are not actually playing all these 49 combinations yourself, are you?
In your example, with 7x7 powersets, you can build seven charas and have all the sets. (You choose your seven combinations from a larger pool of 49, but you actually roll only seven of them.) For the melee archetypes, you can build just twelve unique charas. Granted, you have a much larger pool to choose from, but whatever you choose, you only get five more. After that, you need to repeat defensive powersets. (Several times, by now.)
Take the extreme case: Imagine having 500 primary powersets, but only one single secondary. Wow, 500 combinations! That number doesn't really mean anything, though. Very few players would get to play all the powersets, because at some point they'd be sick and tired of the one secondary powerset they are required to use each time. (Which would be a shame, because some of the primaries were really great...)
It's okay to repeat a powerset once or twice. It's just that we are getting so many new melee powersets by now that the gap between primaries and secondaries widens more and more.
Sure, it would be nice to get an eighth chara for your archetype. (I probably would play that one, too.) However, if the developers continue adding more and more melee powersets, I really hope that they'll also create a few defensive powersets on the way. Otherwise some players might stop buying the new melee powersets - just because they don't want to use the same old armors again.

I would have posted earlier, but the forums were down for extended maintenance. Sorry.

Quote:That variable apparently was cleared by accident. Internally, your last login date is stored by the game as the number of days since January 1st, 2000. Set that value to zero and you get exactly the effect you are describing.[...] Now... that's almost 12 years ago. And the game's only been out since 2004.
I also experienced this a while ago. There's no need to worry, the game will show the correct value again once you have logged into that chara.

The funny thing is, it doesn't even matter whether you allow or deny access, the launcher still continues and starts the game. So it doesn't even need any special permissions to do its thing...

While I would like to see some new base items, you do realize that only one member of a super group would need to buy the pack, while all other members would be able to enjoy the new base he built for them for free? Players could even temporarily switch super groups to install the pieces they unlocked for their account in a second base.
So there won't be that many sales, which would require a rather high market price in order to balance the development costs - if the pack is developed at all.
The Paragon Market is a nice tool, but I really don't expect the developers to devote too much time to market items for such a limited audience. Base additions would probably work better as VIP perks or just free stuff that's included with another issue.

Quote:Yes.Bottom line, if made available through the Paragon store would you "purchase" either Radiation Armor or Radiation Melee?

Quote:Not for this argument's sake, no. If you pair all the support powers with all the control powers, ranged powers, and pet powers, you end up with just two support powers left. So, if you want one of each, you only need to duplicate two powersets, and they can be pets, control, or ranged. Also - I would think the OP would be concerned about mastermind primaries vs secondaries, no?
This doesn't work nearly as well for the melee archetypes. Here you need to duplicate seven defensive powersets if you want to play all available primaries, with more to come, meaning even more duplication.
Certainly it'd be nice to get another mastermind pet powerset, or another control powerset. But the six non-melee archetypes currently are quite balanced in the number of powersets they have available.

Quote:But you do understand that there's a difference between 18x12 combinations vs., say, 15x15 combinations?Speaking as someone whose primary interest AT has seven primaries, would it kill those of you who care about being limited to merely 216 possible combinations to suck it up?

Quote:I'm sorry if I was misinterpreting things, but I was under the impression that our costume pieces actually had four colors, two of which could be modified by the player. That's why the toga from the Valentine's event has two adjustable colors, but will always have the golden-colored embroided edge, for example. However, 3D artists are limited to a 2-color system and will, from time to time, need a tint to simulate a third color.
So, if they really need a third color, couldn't they just use one of the two extra colors?

Currently, there are 18 melee powersets. (If you distinguish between Katana and Ninja Blade, there are 19.) As of next tuesday, Titan Weapons will be added to the mix. Also, Staff Fighting already has been announced, and I'd bet that there will be more in the future.
Players obviously enjoy playing melee charas. There's nothing wrong with that, of course, but every scrapper, tanker, brute, and stalker also needs another, defensive powerset... of which we currently have just 12 (with no new announcements for the near future).
No other playstyle has such a large imbalance between the number of available primary and secondary powersets. So, I'd really like to get another defensive powerset to go along with all the new melee weapons. (Call it character diversification, if you like.)
The newest defensive powerset is Shields, which was added back in i13. What do you think... is it too much to hope for at least one new defensive powerset, say, ten issues later? There were player suggestions for a radiation or toxic armor, for example...

Hi, everybody,
we just did the Admiral Sutter TF and I was wondering: In the first mission, there are two mission objectives that are marked "(optional)". What are they for?
I can imagine that the crew of the USS Donald Cook was rather glad that we helped save their ship, but I couldn't find anything about the eight fuel lines we were supposed to close.
Does anybody know if closing all of them has any effect in the mission? Perhaps the portal spawn rate gets reduced by closing the lines? Does it do anything at all?
Thanks for any information on this,

Quote:Actually, it does report every single transaction. What you're describing happens if a single transaction moves several identical items at once.Listing stacks sometimes leads to slightly odd results, as the market UI doesn't always seem to report transactions in the exact order they happened, and sometimes doesn't report every transaction at all. For example, I've regularly seen that I listed, say, three Alchemical Silvers, and all three sold for the same price, but only one 'sale' popped up in the list.
For example, if you sell three pieces of Alchemical Silver to three different buyers, you will see three reports. But if somebody is looking to buy more than one piece of Alchemical Silver, and her bid is matched with your offer, all three pieces could be sold in a single transaction. Hence, you would only get one single report.
This way you can see whether your buyer was buying in bulk. For example, if you're flipping recipes and someone bought a whole stack of ten from you in a single transaction, your asking price almost certainly was too low.

I think that if you actually got your "balanced" archetype, you might be seriously disappointed.
Balancing would require the ranged blasts to be significantly weaker than a blaster's. It's quite possible that you might even end up with base values lower than a defender's damage, considering that you're much harder to remove than a blaster.
On the other hand, balancing would also require your armors to be strictly weaker than a scrapper's. Thus, you'll end up with a weak blaster that still doesn't survive too well alone and is even less help in a team.
In other words, very few players would actually keep playing one.
Unless, of course, the archetype was not balanced. But if it weren't, who would ever want to roll a blaster or a scrapper again?
(Edited to add a missing negation.)

Quote:While I agree that it would be a great addition to the costume designer, I don't think it will be implemented that easily, unless you want your cape to become completely stiff (or the symbol constantly detaching from your cape)./signed, I don't see how this would take much work either, just a matter of adding a detail slot to capes.
All the emblems in the game currently are fixed in form. In order to follow the movement of your cape, the emblem would have to bend and wave along with it. This is certainly possible, of course, but it will probably require some effort.

Just checking,
when I just entered the resistance base in Underground Imperial, I noticed that almost all my powers were suppressed. (Suddenly losing sprint and ninja run is very noticeable if you're used to running around pretty fast...)
Is this a new feature that was introduced by today's patch, or did the resistance base always have this feature and my memory just tricked me into believing I was able to ninja jump around in there in the past?

Hi,
I was thinking of rolling a DP/D blaster for style reasons (he wouldn't have any actual superpowers), but was told that the combination doesn't play very well together.
I can see that having neither Aim nor Build Up will reduce my damage output somewhat, but is the powerset combination really that bad?
Thanks for any information on this,

Hi, everybody,
just asking:
Suppose you're currently a VIP, and you inted to stay VIP for the foreseeable future. Thus, you have access to the Time Manipulation powerset for free. Not only don't you need to buy it in the paragon store, but it seems you actually cannot buy it.
Now, let's say there's a sale of the Time Manipulation powerset, and premium (and free) players can get the set at a reduced price.
Is there a way to buy the powerset now, to make sure you still have access to your time-using characters if, at some point in the future, you might need to fall back to premium?

Quote:Well, since they already hinted at Titan Weapons when they announced the Halloween Event, and since the powerset even was briefly available (before they quickly took it down again), I believe I can guess what happened. This should have been on the market at the start of the Halloween event. Kinda strange that it appears at the end of the event where all the criders spawn that we would have used these powers on.
1. Titan Weapons was scheduled to be released on November 1st.
2. During Beta testing, the developers discovered that the set still required some tweaks, fixes, or changes.
3. There was not enough time to test the newest version of the set. Thus, the developers decided to hold it back.
4. In order to avoid having a week with no new releases at all, they needed a quick replacement.
5. Since there also was not enough time to create something really new, they bundled together a few temporary powers and called it the Undead Survival Kit, in order to loosely tie it into the running event.
The kit probably won't have too many buyers. However, considering that some players already complained about getting "too much too soon", I think it's a good idea to have a few weeks where you don't feel compelled to buy all the new releases.
