Good bye, Beastyle.
I wish you all the be(a)st, wherever you might go.

Fun fact: This park was actually named after Tolkien's Shire.

Think of it this way: There already were one and a half psychic heroines in the FP's main team. Adding Penelope Yin wouldn't be that special, then, or possibly even completely unnecessary¹. But if Penny was needed to replace Sister Psyche, well... that would make much more sense, wouldn't you say?
I'm still wondering what the real Aurora Borealis is thinking about all of this. Does she feel guilty about "her" actions? Will she try to join with her "other self", or even try to absorb her back into her own consciousness?

You should keep your global name even if you fall back to premium, shouldn't you? So either this is not the account Artorios Rex was talking about (since there were no free players back then), or it wasn't activated for quite some time.

Any version of placate has always worked like that, even the single-target ones. So yes, I think it's working as intended.

Well, first, something like category 1, but not exactly. (I guess this is category 7, then?) I haven't played all the existing powersets yet, but I'm heading there, and I don't like to repeat a set. Currently there are a lot more melee sets than there are defensive ("armor") sets, so either I have to skip several melee sets, or I have to duplicate several armors. So, more defensive/armor sets, please!
There are a few specific ideas I'd love to see as power sets in the game. This is mainly your category 3, I think, but it also slightly touches category 6. I'm not exactly "tired" of the existing power sets, and power customisation goes a long way, but there are times where I do wish for something different and new.

So, you're saying that it's just the numbers in the detailed info display that are wrong? For example:
This cone has actually a power range and an effect area of 49.2 feet, even though it's listed as having an effect area of 40 feet?
10joy -
Hi, everybody,
I'm currently trying to understand what exactly is improved by slotting range enhancements in an attack power. For single-target attacks, the effect seems pretty straightforward. Multi-target attacks are not as easy, though.
It seems that slotting range in a targeted AoE attack does not improve the effect's radius but only allows me to choose a target that is further away from my location. For example, Explosive Blast is listed as having a range of 80 feet with an effect radius of 15 feet, so it's effect will go off in a circular area with a diameter of 30 feet centered around my chosen target, which needs to be closer than 80.01 feet for the power to work. Increasing the power's range enables me to fire it from, say, 100 feet away, but the power would still affect a circle with a radius of 15 feet. Good to know.
Now it gets tricky. What about cones? Slotting a range enhancement into Energy Torrent again seems to increase the distance to my target at which I'm able to use the power. But just like with TAoEs, the area of effect size is not changed! The detailed power information still lists Energy Torrent's effect area with its unchanged original values. Now, does that mean that if I fire the power at a group of enemies at (enhanced) maximum range, I can be absolutely certain that I won't actually damage any of them?! This can't be right... can it?
I vaguely remember that there were some bug reports when cone size enhancements were merged into range enhancements, but surely such a bug would have been fixed by now, wouldn't it? (Maybe the display just shows the wrong values for the cone's area size?) Are range enhancements in cone powers effectively worthless, or worse?
Thank you all for any information on this,

As far as I know, there is no veteran reward power that self-destructs you. There was, however, a self destruct power in the Cyborg pack, which should be available on the paragon market as a power by now.
That power's original button always was just gray, though:Are you using one of those button-swapping plug-ins?

I feel amazed. I just soloed a GM. And now I need...MORE!
Oh, so you weren't talking about Game Masters?

Give them a month or so. The developers can't create the codes, probably because they are processed by the NCsoft account management instead of the game itself. So they have to request all the codes from PlayNC, which can take some time.

Quote:The players might be ready (even though I doubt it), but the developers might not be. A new game engine requires an enormous amount of work.I think the world is ready for City of Heroes 2. It needs better graphics, vastly improved gaming engine, more customizations, etc. CoH is a great game, but it is REALLY showing its age.
You are aware of the fact that a hypothetical City of Heroes 2 would almost certainly have much less content than our existing game?
Recreating every zone, mission map, costume part, and animation for a new graphics engine would require so much work that you probably won't find a producer willing to spend that amount of money up front.
So, a hypothetical City of Heroes 2 would probably start from scratch, and offer less powersets, less mission content, less endgame content, and quite possibly less fun. It would probably copy some features, but it's likely that it would be its own game and would have to grow its own features over time.
Also, since City of Heroes 1 cannot be merged into City of Heroes 2 in its entirety, it is by no means guaranteed that most players will migrate over to the new game. Ripping apart the player base could kill both games.
If you ask me, I really hope that the original version of the game still has quite some life time left. I wouldn't like it if I was forced to recreate all my characters in the new version of the game.

Since you're a brute, are you running your taunt aura, by any chance? That would kill any stealth you had.

I can only talk for myself, but my first and main chara is a MA/SR scrapper who went for the Rebirth Radial Epiphany and never regretted it.
While it's true that you still get hit from time to time in incarnate trials, you also get buffs from players around you. Usually I am able to get back to full health before I'm hit again, and for real emergencies there's still Elude, which will softcap you against anything even in incarnate trials (except for autohits and untyped attacks, of course).
I believe the occasional heal from Rebirth is worth much more than varying defense bonuses. Also, if you're really worried about getting hit, using the Diamagnetic interface could also help since it lowers an enemy's ToHit.

Quote:That's rather simple; just read the power's description. If it refers to melee, ranged, or area of effect defense, it's positional. Typed defense refers to attack types, like smashing, fire, energy, or psionic.(1) How do I identify whether a Powerset is Positional or Typed?
Quote:(2) For Brutes and Scrappers, which Invention sets are for Positional, and which are for Typed... [...]
And (3) Does it make a big difference, I mean, what would happen if you, because you are as confused as I am, put Positional Defense IO set into a Typed Defense powerset?
Quote:And still another question, I often see people putting Kin Combats into their Fiery Aura toons.
The closer your defense gets to 45%, the more you will profit from additional defense (but except for incarnate trials and a very few special opponents, there is no additional benefit for exceeding 45%). Most charas cannot reach 45% defense just by activating powers, so people try to increase their defenses by slotting enhancement sets that increase defense.
Different IO sets offer different bonuses. An IO set that grants a defense bonus usually works for one positional and two typed defenses, but the values differ. Thus, if you are looking for, say, some additional defense against lethal attacks, you could slot enhancements from a set that offers a good lethal defense bonus. If you need more melee defense, you would pick another set with a higher melee defense bonus.
Quote:Instead of Kin Combats on my Fire/Fire Scrap, I have three sets of six slotted Mako's Bite and she does excellent with them. She has very little problems with sappers, carnies, and psi damage dealers..and things close enough to slash at her with weaponery just don't live long enough to cause her too much excitment.
Would replacing the Mako's Bite with Kin Combat really improve things?
Fiery Aura is not defense-based but resistance-based, so you probably won't have much defense to begin with. It doesn't really matter whether you're running around with 0% or 6% lethal and smashing defense; you will still get hit. I can't say for sure without looking at your build, but I think you won't gain much from switching from Mako's Bite to Kinetic Combat.
Things would be different if you already had, say, something like 38% smashing/lethal defense. Adding two sets of Kinetic Combat here would be a significant difference. (With 38% defense, about one in eight smashing / lethal attacks will land. With 45%, only one in twenty S/L attacks will hit you.)
