Quote:I'm pretty sure that Shift-9 wouldn't have worked, but that's only because no one would have bound it to "team_select 9" in the first place.I can't seem to place it, but something about this league strikes me as a touch... off. Could someone perhaps help me to enumerate my concern?
For the record, I think I pieced together how to reliably cause this to occur, but since I was on Team 1, and not Team Overfill, I didn't have a chance to see if the Shift+Number shortcut went all the way down to Teammate 9
My goal now is to see if we can get a team up to 10 or higher. I fully expect this to crash the game if successful, but it is worth it, for science!
Also, since GMs (and developers, and other NCsoft folks) can enter teams at will, I believe this is how a regular eight-person team in a league would look like once a GM added himself to the team (maybe to assist with a /petition).
I'm not saying that one player in team overflow is a GM, just that I think it works the same way. I never saw two GMs joining the same full team yet, but I wouldn't really expect the game to crash from that.

Quote:Yes, that's exactly what I was asking. I'm sorry if my text failed to convey this.I think you all missed what the OP was saying.
As part of the Halloween Costume Pack, for sale on the Paragon Market, you get an aura called Bats. A Bats Aura is also available as a reward from doing the House of Horrors trial.
The question was, are these two auras the same, and thus are you wasting a selection by taking them when you already have it through the the costume pack that was purchased from the market.
Thanks. I suspected this, since I could still find only one bats aura in the costume designer even after claiming the second reward, but since the game does have a "you already own this" warning for the trial reward table that did not show up for the second reward, I wanted to make sure.
10joy -
It is? What is its name? And why doesn't it show up in the costume change emote list at the bottom of the costume selection window?
Just to make sure, there is a "Murder of Crows" costume change emote (the first selection) and a "Vampire Bats" costume change emote?
I don't have the reward dialog box on my screen right now, but I was under the impression that while the costume change emote had birds, the thing with the bats was an aura.

Hi,
I just noticed that when my chara did the Halloween trial for the second time, the first entry on the reward table (the costume change emote) had the red "you already have this" warning text.
The second entry (the bats aura) did not have the same text, even though I already bought the Halloween costume pack in the Paragon store. So, are there two different bats auras? I couldn't find a second one in the costume designer, but I might have overlooked something.
So, are there two bats auras, or is the one I can unlock as a reward from the trial the same aura I can buy at the store?
Thanks for any information on this.

While trick-or-treating on Peregrine Island, our team discovered a door that acted as a zone teleport.
It's the one-story building near Ghost Falcon's usual hang out place. Clicking on the door brings up a menu with different zones, similar to the new fifth teleport power, Long Range Teleport.
I think I remember trick-or-treating at that door the year before, so this function of the door seems to have been added during the last twelve months.
Was this "zone-teleport door" officially announced in some patch notes where I missed it? Or is it a bug? Are we looking at the remains of a developers' test of the Long Range Teleport power, perhaps?

Quote:I've seen suggestions that only a handful of players should go into the final battle; the rest should self-destruct into the hospital once the third reactor has been secured, and stay there until Anti-Matter has been defeated. Maybe the players who don't have any experience with the trial could try that once?I think, if at all possible, we really ought to restrict the league to folks who are intimately familiar with the trial. Both Green Stuff and Challenge are extremely difficult to attain at the best of times, without having inexperienced players who are learning a challenging trial on the fly.
Also, do you think it might help if we try to manage AM's HP so that the time freeze starts as long before the next obliteration beam as possible, so there won't be much overlap between the two?
In any case, I'll be there again.

This is something that's been bugging me for quite some time now. It just happened again, reminding me to ask:
Okay, I've been defeated, but I have some inspirations left. Here's plan: Stack a Restauration, an Escape, a Phenomenal Luck, and a Resurgence over each other in the last tray column, press F5 four times, and run away to rest and prepare for the next round...
but it doesn't always work like that. Sometimes you stand up and are good to go, but sometimes the game doesn't allow you to use the other inspirations before the rez animation has finished.
Meaning that you're still mezzed, can't move very fast, and the mobs that defeated you in the first round are very happy to demonstrate that they can, in fact, do so again ...
while you helplessly press F5 over and over, watching as the game blinks the Escape to inform you that no, you're still doing the Restauration animation and are not allowed to use Escape just yet.
And so you finish the Restauration animation in exactly the place you started it in - defeated on the floor.
I'd accept that Restaurations aren't made for in-combat use ... were it not for the fact that sometimes they do allow you to use other inspirations immediately, enabling a more or less safe getaway.
Why is that? Am I doing something wrong? Am I too slow? (Is it that short window of time during which other rezzes that turn you invincible for a few seconds haven't yet done so, allowing a fast shooter to defeat you immediately in response to your activation of the power?)
Thanks for any insights on this,

No.
In short, the game checks all your defenses and chooses the highest applicable value.
In your example, since you have 30% lethal defense and only 20% ranged defense, the attack has a 80% (50%+30%) chance to miss you (unless the attacker has any accuracy or ToHit bonuses).
Since most attacks have both a type and a vector, it's usually sufficient to cap either typed OR positional defenses, you don't need both. A few psionic attacks don't have a vector, though, and there's no typed defense against toxic (and electrolytic) attacks.

Both powers are identical, at least as far as scrappers are concerned. They both offer 20% recharge. (Which isn't nearly enough to achieve perma-Hasten, by the way, but it helps getting there.)
My very first character was a MA/SR scrapper, and I still enJoy playing him today. Super Reflexes offer superior defense debuff resistance, so once you get your defense values high enough the set survives very well.

I always thought that if you combined three inspirations and chose the same type, you should get the next higher version, at least from level 1 to level 2.
E. g., if you combined three small reds ("Enrage"), you should be able to get any other small inspiration (Luck, Catch a Breath, Respite, Break Free, Awaken, ...), but if you chose the red one, you should receive a Focused Rage (the level 2 one).
Being able to create level 4 inspirations this way would probably invalidate the effort needed to get them the original way (running an incarnate trial), so that's out. I have a feeling that even creating level 3 inspirations from three level 2 ones might be slightly overpowered. But it certainly would be a nice feature to have.
(Also, in the beginning there was this rumour that if you managed to get your hands on one of each level 3 inspiration, you could trade the set in for something really special. Now there's a thought...)

Quote:Credit cards aren't that common in Europe, and you'd be surprised how many sellers actually don't accept them.Actually the biggest problem is that your friend doesnt' have a credit or debit card. That's almost unheard of in this day and age.
The European version of the debit card (it's called an EC-card or electronic cash card) only works by putting it into a machine. Most stores offer payment with EC-cards, but they need special hardware for that. You can't use the card at home for purchases on the internet.
In Germany, there's a clever system called "Paysafecard". Many stores and vending machines sell them for cash, and they work like one-time prepaid debit cards. You don't need a bank account, they're available for minors, and if you have an EU account, the PlayNC store accepts them.
So, you can pay, say, 10 at a local shop, get a paysafecard with the same balance (basically it's just a strip of paper with a code number on it), enter that number in the PlayNC store and buy anything for 10 there. (Several cards can be combined for a purchase, so if you don't spend it all, the paysafecard server will remember the amout of money remaining on your code to be used later.)
There are many places that sell paysafecards. The easiest way to look for them is to check places that also sell cash cards for mobile phones.

Quote:I can see why this would be an either-or decision, and I think that some players might rather like the granite tanks they've played the last seven years. So, I feel obliged to point out that this is only my personal opinion:In other news, I expressed on the last Ustream marathon that I believed Granite Armor could be made customizable. I'll be devoting some of my free time to exploring this possibility. The trade-off would be that the Devouring Earth model is done away with, and replaced with a more generic-looking model that is placed over the character's body, similar to the rest of the Stone Armor powers.
I'd like to hear your thoughts on this trade-off. Thanks to those who have already posted their opinions!
YES! Yes, please.
I have started many characters in the game. Some of them made it to 50, some didn't. The one set I never even considered when rolling a new character was Stone Armor. And that's because I knew my character would look exactly like any other stone tank once he learned Granite Armor.
I don't know about other players, but in order to be played again, my characters need to grow their own identity. They have to "feel right". How they look is very much part of that.
Thank you,

The Paragon Rewards Details webpage stated that we'd get one reward token for each 1200 Paragon Points we purchase through the market.
Currently the in-game market doesn't list that extra value in the "add points" page. It just states how much points we can get for certain amounts of money, with no mention of any reward tokens included with the purchase.
Just to make sure:
1. I assume that we do get the tokens even though that's not spelled out in the market page?
2. Does it matter whether we buy the points in-game or on the PlayNC account webpage?
3. Also, if I buy, say, 400 points three times, will I get a token?

Quote:Was it clarified how these work? Do I have to select six characters to transfer at once, or could I, say, use the first three to move three characters to Exalted in order to participate in the festivities there, then later use the final three to return them to their home server? And for the first week ONLY, you'll be able to get:
- 6 Character Transfers for 480 Paragon Points or $6! (one time purchase)

Robotics / Time Manipulation mastermind
10joy -
Hi,
so my newest chara, a Nin/DM mastermind, just reached level 38 and got Fluffy.
Since this is the first time I'm playing the Dark Miasma powerset, I don't yet have much experience on how often the Dark Servant utilizes which of his powers. It seems that you can slot him for a number of things - heals, immobilizes, holds, and toHit-Debuffs as well as endurance reduction and recharge. (Unfortunately, the power doesn't take the recharge-intensive pets sets.)
A friend of mine suggested healing enhancements. A couple of posts I read listed ToHit debuff and hold sets instead, but they didn't specifically say why they used those. Another post had a full set of immobilize IOs in there, but I believe they did it mainly for the set bonuses.
Would you say that slotting heal enhancements would help the most? Or would it be better to slot for immobilize, hold, or ToHit debuff? Or should I try to mix them all, maybe frankenslotting several different sets? Perhaps even some damage procs?
Thanks for any suggestions,

10joy
