gimmicky "raid" with niche ATs required,
[/ QUOTE ]
...What planet are you living on that MMs are a 'niche' AT? -
[ QUOTE ]
Nice to combine with other stuns however, such as Oppressive Gloom... but good luck trying to get enough endurance to run DA with SM.
[/ QUOTE ]
Did it. And pre-IOs, no less. It's a fun balancing game, and the power you get is immense. It's all about power choice, proper slotting, and avoiding overkill. -
[ QUOTE ]
Yes I r stooopd! I r n00b. I've only been here since I6 after all.
[/ QUOTE ]
Age has no effect on being a n00b. Just because you've been around does not mean you have any understanding of what goes on.
That said - we're all kinda n00bs right now. This is a major shift in how doms play, and all of us who haven't been living on Test are in a whole different boat. We've got to re-evaluate what powers are worth it, when to use what, the whole shebang. Me, I'm slotting a lot more end redux now. But the change is worth it. -
[ QUOTE ]
I really think they should through a temp power and a few more cotume peices in the science booster, and just make the height adjuster included in issue 15 or 16.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not targeting you specifically (you're just the most recent commenter), but this general attitude makes me laugh.
People complain that they won't buy the booster packs unless there's something they want in there.
Then when the booster pack comes out with something good in it, people complain that it should be taken out and given to the players for free. Often, these two groups are exactly the same people. The whole situation is actually rather funny. -
When did you leave? Just how much we need to catch you up on is important.

I hate the pink aura around the head so I might actually play a DA Scrapper now. I'm really hoping we can select "None" as a choice for color.
[/ QUOTE ]
I suspect it won't be, though. I'd expect a selection like our current color palette - so no clear/none. Even if available, that seems a bad idea. Last thing I need is a lack of visual cues that I've forgotten to turn my armors on! -
Hot Feet is pretty worth it if you're consistently in melee range. I have mine slotted with a little extra slow (Damage/Slow IOs frankenslotted in) so anything in range is at the -move cap. They don't uncluster enough to be notable, and the avoid effect is useful protection. Plus yes, the damage is nice. It's more useful if you're on a low AoE power team, but I wouldn't skip it either way.

The fact that you use snipes in their current form THAT much, just amuses me, and makes me hope i NEVER team with you lol.
[/ QUOTE ]
Agreed. I'm shocked there are people who use snipes frequently enough that a recharge increase actually matters. Even the players I've seen who love their snipes only use them to start the fight. Using it frequently in combat? That's madness. Who cares if the power's recharge goes from 12s to 18s when you're only using it every 20-25s in the absolute best case scenario? -
I respectfully but entirely disagree with Ace. Dying isn't 'losing'. It's reaching a point where you're being challenged. I do agree on the other part, though - it's a power you should take, but an occasional power. Take things you're going to use all the time first.
-
I'm considering starting a /Fire of some sort. Of course, I should probably finish my Fire/Psi and Mind/Elec first - else I'll totally forget about them.
-
I, for one, will be turning my Dark Armor to bright pink.
Probably only for a day, but for that one day? It will make me laugh like a lunatic. -
[ QUOTE ]
Just based on the primaries I think Earth would be the best one for that kind of ranged playstyle.
[/ QUOTE ]
I would agree. Earth or Gravity, really. Quicksand alone makes Earth an excellent choice, while Grav has your personal melee guardian. -
To my knowledge, Tornado is a pet like rain powers are. Which means that the proc has a chance to tick every 10 seconds rather than on every time damage hits. Personally, I haven't tried it - Dorothy usually is knocking things back all over the place, so nothing would stay in proc range long enough to be worth the effort anyhow.
-
I played a Stone/Dark brute for a long time, and experimented with a Dark/Stone tank - these gentlemen speak the truth. It is powerful. Insanely powerful. You are a walking ball of disorient, with damage, knockdowns, holds, fears and the best PvE heal in the game backing it up.
The blue bar is managable, but you have to be VERY careful. Even with heavy IO slotting, I'd run out of endurance if I didn't pay close attention. It's probably got the highest skill requirement of sets I've played - it's very easy to go wrong, and devastating when you do. But the power is amazing when you play it right. -

Assault Primary/Modified Pet Secondary
[/ QUOTE ]
This is actually fairly close to what I expect we'll see as a new GR AT. We know that a pet set is one of their big focus items, and that there's side-switching. It would make sense to introduce a pet-centric new AT to blueside. A third support-type that would pale to both defenders and controllers wouldn't be useful so - offensive sets. Only real issue might be overlap between the three attacks in the pet set and any that exist in the assault set. But that's not so hard to clear up. -
[ QUOTE ]
The only thing that will get them to stay is being able to play their first few times without getting pwned. Defeated is fine, but pwned by definition means someone is basically trying to drive them away.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is very much true. Every time this conversation comes around, I use my own start as an example.
Never been in PvP before. Had the game maybe a month. I walk into Siren's Call the first time, looking around. Wow, a new zone. Okay, I have twenty seconds now before PvP starts. Hey, I wonder what this contact-like guy over here is.
Timer reaches 0.
TP Foe'd out of the base.
Stunned.
Placated.
Assassin Strike.
Trash talked.
Dead and insulted 35 seconds after entering the zone for the first time, with no way to respond or even be aware of what happened. I didn't even look at PvP again for months, and it took multiple friends begging me to even step foot near it again.
If you want new people to get involved in PvP, it has to actually be vaguely fun. Not just a handful of ultra-skilled veterans curbstomping 99% of the rest of the population. No reward is going to counteract it not being fun. It'll just make the people who don't have fun moan and complain about how they're forced to PvP to keep up. -

One of the devs posted a reply
[/ QUOTE ]
Ah, but you see that doesn't matter. Remember, the devs always lie about their own game! Their word can be trusted the least, because they have a deep investment in the game doing well. So they will always give you the most positive answer possible.
Or at least, that would be the likely response. No proof positive will ever be enough to convince certain folks in this thread. It's always going to be lies, or a cartel of sycophants shouting others down, or blind fanboi-ism. Because they're just looking for a reason to be angry and can't stand the idea of being wrong. -
Confirming I got the email as well.
-
Try perhaps giving the GMs some time to work, hmm? There's no magic 'fix the code' wand, particularly if they don't know why it happened in the first place. Being one of probably ten thousand people logged in at that time and demanding an instant solution plus personal response on a possible bug of unknown origin, complexity and cause is foolishly unreasonable and setting yourself up for disappointment. Just as much so as complaining in a non-constructive and antagonistic manner to the wrong people is.
Also, still have all my storage racks across three SGs. This doesn't seem to be widespread, so if it's a code glitch it isn't consistent. Did you do any base editing, or were they just gone when you entered the base? -
[ QUOTE ]
His post specifically says that they went from a baseline of 1 merit per 5 minutes of TF time to 1 minute per 3 minutes of TF time. That means they intended a global increase in merits earned of about 40%. But they only got 26%. That isn't me focusing on the explanation. That is me analyzing exactly what happened.
[/ QUOTE ]
Except that it was also coupled with a re-evaluation of how long certain tasks actually take. You're using one guideline to evaluate a change that uses two. The methodology of your argument is flawed at the base.
Look at the posted data. The significant majority of the merit loss is concentrated in two or three story arcs that the player base has KNOWN had inflated values. We have an overall increase - the decreases only came into play with a few specific situations which anybody who was watching merit rates knew was skewed in the first place. -
[ QUOTE ]
hey base builders, check this out!!!
[/ QUOTE ]
Aaand reported for cross-posting. Poor way to make a good impression on the base building community, by posting off-topic in several stickied threads. -
Hm. When's the next anniversary again?
-
I understand where you're coming from, but... in practical terms? It's old hat. You could get the maximum functional PvE base (full storage/teleporters/etc) for something like 5 million prestige. Past that there wasn't much reason to push for it anyway. And what you had to push for was functionless. The problem isn't new to I13, it's just more obvious now.
-
[ QUOTE ]
I really hope it's not anything to do with the 5th Column. Enough of them already. Let's get some super hero stuff in the mix.
[/ QUOTE ]
And we all know that superheroes have NEVER fought Nazis. Ever. It certainly isn't some of their most classic adventures and where most of the popular heroes got their start. -
[ QUOTE ][*]Replace the salvage cost of empowerment buffs with a straight brainstorm cost?
[/ QUOTE ]
This is a bad idea, as things stand. Brainstorms are a limited resource. Past I13, base salvage no longer drops. Which means we can't make new brainstorms. Which means that at some point in the future there won't be any more to use.
