We also can't use NPC weapon models, like two handed hammers and shotguns.
Makes me a sad evil robot -
Quote:You guys really are an entitled lot aren't you? This is not your game, it's their game and we pay to play it. If the dev's actually had to run everything by the playerbase every time with "You guys ok with this? May we do it?" nothing would ever happen or change.
Let the guys do what they do best and if you don't like the changes, sure you can voice that opinion but other then that, get over it.
Yeah, because the playerbase clearly doesn't know what it's talking about, and clearly the Devs get everything right every time.
Oh, wait. If that were true, we wouldn't have PLAYERS re-design NPC contacts (Trina in Pocket D, the two Incarnate Merit vendors) and we wouldn't have PLAYERS point out that, actually, the numbers guys messed up and stuff was doing things it shouldn't be (Arcanaville)
So, actually, the forum players DO have a pretty damn good idea of what's going on. Not to mention we are the players and thus the paying customers. -
Quote:Note, I'm not saying the costumes are bad. They are very well made and good and all that...Yeah, I have to disagree with most of this. I think these costumes are some of the best things they have ever done. It is all relative to one's perspective.
But they are NOT Circle of Thorns. There's a whole THREAD of people saying they are not CoT outfits. And I'm pretty sure that should count for something, right?
Edit: 'Finest Hour' comment aimed at the total disregard of the CoT current look and all that. Not meaning the costumes were bad. /clarify -
Quote:If I were a member of the art team, I'd feel bad too...for completely ignoring the look and feel of the Circle as people have known them for seven years and instead made something that looks like a rip off of the 800lb Gorilla. We never going to be all agree in one single matter, so I think will be better to trust our devs as always and let them make their work.
They already said they will be tweaking the new CoT to make them look close to our feedback, so, expect the same costumes but with some tweaks for the colours, maybe some robe-belt like martial arts pack, cloacks and hoods with no face and green glowing eyes.
I think CoT will be cool enough, I personally glad they upgraded a mob group we face all time.
I would be surprised if someone ragequit and stop being a suscriber because the devs go ahead and upgrade the CoT with the costumes made by the art team with all the work that means.
If I were part of the art team and my hard work were not released because of players with strong feedback I would feel bad. Devs need to trust their team and workers too, not only players.
I'm not knocking the art team, far from it. They do awesome stuff. But you have to take the bad with the good as an artist (I should know...) and this was NOT their finest hour. -
British, eh? That sounds like a call for something from Colonel Lyndon
I'll get something written up this time!

The baggy-pants versions of Serafina look much more Genie-like to me. I approve. That Gregor Richardson upgrade is stupendous, too.
-
The Server Status page is a big, steaming pile of fail.
And always has been, and likely always will be. Big freaking whoop. -
Quote:Fine. I just got uber-veto'd by the Art Lord. This sums it up quite nicely to me. She can be tech-y and somewhat mythic at the some time. It's tech with a decorative overlay. Were we to update this model, that's the balance I'd like to strike.
HOWEVER; If that's the case, then she is going to need a unique model. Because NOTHING in the CC looks good enough to express that. The Valkyrie parts, frankly, do not suit Valkyrie. Yes, that's just my opinion. Given the only opinion I have that is backed up by some capability is art and design and suchnot...
Oh, who the frag am I kidding? It'll either happen, or it won't.
Just, please, don't do anything as...'radical' as the proposed CoT revamp? You know, the one that generated an entire thread of 'Do not want for CoT'.
/rant. It's been one of those nights. If I felt I could beat the art block I'd try and draw some proper concepts....******* block ¬¬ -
Dear God, what the HELL is that thing?!? O_o

Quote:None of which has ANYTHING, bar name, to do with Valkyrie. She's NEVER exhibited any affiliation with Norse mythos, Valhalla, or even anything semi-mythic/mystic in any way, shape or form.I never said they look like Norse stuff. I said they represent Norse influence, specifically the mythological influence, insofar as they evoke the image of one of Odins battle maidens who go out and choose those among the slain who go to Valhalla.
She's a TECH hero, who's the Sidekick of Positron. Ergo, 'mythic' and anything like it has literally 0% to do with her. -
Quote:It looks decent and all, but...Here's what I'd do with Swan more or less.... Takes into account her current look, her magical/psionic origins and spruces her up a bit. The shoulder bits could stay or go...
Why can she not have some shorts-ish things? Or full torso/bottoms spandex? It looks like she forgot half her costume, in all honesty. -

Quote:And I want a motorbike, a jetbike, I Win Button, a big red ball and a Pony. With wings.I need them all. I don't care how they get it done I just want it done. Costume pieces or path aura work for me. Swinging is cool and spiderman was always swinging above the buildings in those famous Steve Ditko panels. In a world where super powers work the swinging point of attachment is a minor point.
And a puppy and a gatling gun, and power armour, and and and-
Short answer;
No
Get over yourself. I 'need' lots of things in game, mostly to do with the CC and power choices. But I also wouldn't expect the Devs to cow-tow to them JUST because I said 'I need them'.
(Exception being things that should be in game and have been asked for for years, by everyone [Backpacks]) -
Because the Devs said no. And/Or it would take an inordinate amount of work for new animations, somehow, somewhere.
*shrug* -

Quote:Seconded. The armour looks even less tech based...and why is it people can't get that YELLOW does not equal gold OR blonde? It is perfectly feasible to get blonde hair out of the CC.Yeah, this may be a bit blunt... but that is not an "upgrade" IMO.
Yes, I'm an opinionated ****. Whatcha gonna do? I'm EVIL! -

Quote:^ qftit isn't really a question of the size of her "tracts of land" or of style trends in comic books or even of feminism. Doc delilah pretty much has the largest mammarial protuberances that you can get short of breaking the slider and she looks perfectly appropriate.
In the context of this discussion, the question is "what does swan's (or any random hero/villain) costume say about her?"
whatever it's supposed to say, the thing it does not say to me is "this is someone i should respect and depend upon." it says "this is someone i want to pick up at a bar tonight and wake up in bed with tomorrow."
it doesn't say, "i'm a hero and here's my story". It says, "i'm a victoria's secret model." it doesn't even come close to saying "i'm a powerful magician and psychic with a particular grudge against the fifth column". Heck, forget the fifth column. It doesn't even say "magic" or "psychic". It just says "look at me. Don't you wish you could have this?"
in the context of this discussion, swan would not appear an any of my personal lists of characters whose uniform i consider iconic or visually striking.
Your mileage may vary, of course. -
Quote:What else am I meant to say? I am perfectly aware that women in real life have larger bust sizes as well as smaller. One of my best friends at Uni is on the larger side, and anyone calling her 'incapable' had better get ready for a severely shortened life of misery, I tell you.I'm not saying that I like this re-design but there is really seems to be a pathological disdain among some of you for anything bigger than a sensible B-cup. I haven't read enough of your posts to say this applies to you specifically but there really appears to be a strongly held opinion (among some) that a bigger bustline instantly means the woman is somehow less capable. I find that about as distasteful as any other sterotype.
Also, that player posted their redesign in good faith. I understand it isn't your cup of tea and it's really up to you how you want to interact with people but maybe something a little more constructive than "GIANT JUGS! Woo hoo! Strippers! Poles!" might be warranted? Your response is as big a cliche as the outfit - which really is only trying to emulate Swan as she currently exists in game.
How about "The quoted(?) outfit seems to have an overly large bust and a costume choice that emphasizes this with no regard for the size of the current model, and no reason for this change other than a purely base, fanservicey and pointless choice that I would find annoying and demeaning in a professional design and merely stupid in a player created design"?
That seems to sum it up nicely.
If they're gonna be big, for the love of frag make them balanced and proportional. Doc Delilah works just fine; She's TALL as hell and looks balanced enough. Ergo, no mass outcry. -
Quote:What hell kind of world has 'nanite based regen and armour with a technological spear' equating to 'Mystical'?Her spear is tech-based, but from another dimension with a mystical flavour, so it could be celestial tech, magical kind of tech... And she use that name for a reason, I dont see her as a helmetless female version of Positron, I see her as a mystical warrior, with a tech armor but also with mystical flavour.
What hell else are you going to call yourself if you wield a sword and a spear and wear armour, even if it is technological in origin? 'Sword Girl' is pretty damn lame, so...
It's like saying Statesman has to live up to his name, so he'd better break out the suit and smart cuffs. And what exactly is reclusive about Recluse, the guy who owns his own damn islands and stamped his name all over them? -
