Whut, indeed O_o

Hmn, so long as they pay well there may be room for a character who I'll be creating when I21 hits
As he would say Bonjour!

My money's on the torture device.
Hey, it's nice to see the Warriors being actually mean for once, rather than getting beaten up by Freakshow all over Talos >_> -
That...but that...it's....
TODAY!!
*kicks the Launcher* LOAD YOU MISERABLE WORM!! -
Yeah, Colour feedback; lose the pink/purple. Dark red, yes, sinister green, yes. Not pink. Not good
-
Extra: I do think the Guards need to be a bit plainer. They don't look as robey as they used to/the LT and Bosses do. Also, brown still suited them fine!
Although having the higher level minions being the 'Elite' Thorn Guard would work nicely.
The only other thing is; Needs more red and black! What self respecting villain group has no red and black?
Edit: What about the Fire Thorn casters? Just missed out, or being removed? -
Needs a link to a much bigger image, because it's really damn hard to see them at that size.
BUT....I'm liking what I can see. Show me more...
Edit: Especially the Bosses. Those bottomless hoods look downright sinister. Bigger image plz -
Yeah, liked the vid. Good points.
I do still think the VIP server is....well, it's a hit and miss thing.
Downside;
It splits the player base into 'Them and Us' kinda thing.
Upside;
The people who'll use it are, odds on, probably NOT the kind of people you want interacting with Freebies anyway. Because they'll be intolerant, egotistical and cold shouldering goits that you want away from new peeps. Leaving only those who are more welcoming or, at the worst, a little indifferent to everyone. -
Quote:Must...not...quote..Gran TorinoBTW, it's Hmong.

Rest is automatically placed in your tab.
For about a split second. Then it vanishes. I've watched it happen on every character I've created since that bug came in, and it's high time it got fixed. -
Quote:The only crit I'd make from an aesthetic point of view is to make the visor/hole black. Right now it looks like it's a one-piece helm with no actual gaps. Having this apparently empty, black hole where the eyes and such should be would be even betterThese guys are meant to be souless, pumped-up versions of Cole. Glad that's working for you.
-
Mirror Spirit I like more than Ghost Widow.
Foreshadow has higher quality parts than anyone, BUT I wouldn't say his design is the most iconic.
Personal top 3 guys;
1. Recluse
2. Noble Savage (Asymmetry!!)
3) Black Scorpion
Best NPC non-sig?
The Olympian Guards
These guys just RADIATE faceless menace. (And god do they deliver >_< ) -
The monorail engineer was on something pretty serious, if you actually have a hard look at some of the lines, especially in Talos. At least one of the lines is....just...it....no, that hurts my brain too much.

Quote:Why?As you've seen, visual updates for signature characters often coincide with major new storyarcs involving those characters (for example, the Praetorian storyline at the heart of GOING ROGUE). So Art would have to get a plan from Design before it really makes sense to massively rework those characters.
Which characters might Design have in its sights? I'll never tell, but I do like your ideas about new shinies.
Why do you need an excuse to take a BAD looking character and make them look GOOD? That's a...well, I guess it's a resources and time thing, but even so. I personally think that's horrible 'logic' there.
(Yes, I'm an opinionated one. I'm an artist!)

Quote:Even then, however, not all metal IS shiny. My example was the Tech Sleek armour; before, you could colour it white and it'd look a bit like neo-plasticy storm trooper armour, or something like that. Still 'Tech', still 'sleek' but also still high tech.Very funny.
But really, reflectivity only comes up if we're looking at a new part that would logically be shiny (like metal armor). By contrast, it's not going to come up on materials like cloth and fur, which you'll see on future costume options just as much as metal and other materials. Given the choice between a measured amount of reflectivity on metal and none at all, we've of course chosen the more visually impressive and modern option. Over time, we'll have to reconcile that decision with the older parts, but that's part of ongoing development. Work in progress.
Now it's so shiny that it can be nothing BUT ludicrously shiny metal. And I do mean ludicrous; even real metal, polished for days on end my midget polish-pigmy's never looks like that. It's kind of a disconnect.
Again, more is Better; why not add in the reflective metal version AND keep a non-reflective version (drop down menus, etc) that can be ethier matte coloured material or dull metal? That's a win/win, surely? -
Quote:Surely that'd be better served in St Martial or maybe Cap au Diable? Mercy is MEANT to be a slum. There are others that are ripe for 'tall, dark and brooding' instead, however.I hate how every island is a slum in CoV. Why can't there be a dark, sinister looking city like Gotham in CoV? Just because villains have an aversion to shiny, vibrant places doesn't mean every zone has to be a total dump. I mean, what's the point of fighting over it? A nuclear fallout site has more going for it.

I think she should have the knee-pads...and her hair needs to be properly blonde, not yellow. That and, honestly, her having a uniquely tooled variant of the kit would be better, but...
That all said, the reflective version is actually starting to grow on me, more and more everytime I look at it XD Give her a few more unique pieces (she IS a Signature, after all) and it'd look good. -
Quote:^ This, QFTSome might suggest that if you didn't want to receive feedback on it, you shouldn't have presented it in an extremely public place.
Others might suggest that if it needs special presentation to be palatable, you shouldn't be trying to sell it in the first place. The alternative redesigns posted in the much larger thread certainly don't need any context or backgrounds to look good.
But I get the sense that this is going to be one of those things that the playerbase doesn't like, but doesn't care enough to cancel subscriptions about. So, really, there's no problem :\ -

Quote:You seem to be confusing the two different parts here.I dunno...there is a bit of unnecessary Dev-bashing going on here for mine. This is clearly art from an issue that's in Beta, and yet with that in mind, there's an uproar for what is probably an early version of that very concept.
I don't mind people commenting on stuff, but there's Beta phases in place for this very reason. Undoubtedly the testers are commenting and have commented on these changes, and whilst it's fine to be vocal about things, it's not fine to brand the developers and artists and all the people who clearly work their collective butts off as being out of touch with the playerbase.
There has been LOTS of critique, feedback and even player-made suggestions aimed at the CoT costumes. So far, theres been very little 'Dev-Bashing'; plenty of 'It looks great...but it's so not CoT' though.
The 'Dev-Bashing' comes from the condescending remark that reads like 'Oh, you guys are only seeing a phone-image, so, yeah, y'know', which basically implies that we're making a snap judgements and are clearly wrong because the images aren't properly marketed or something. None of which would change the fact that people dislike the change made to the CoT. -
Quote:I highly doubt that. I honestly do.The thing Tech, is we really don't know how the rest look. Now, I can agree that what we have seen is a change in direction from what was. I am not convinced that the higher level mobs don't look better, and more in line already. I am again saying that I am going to wait to pass judgement.
I am betting that if they had the tech and skill to do the new look from the beginning, they would have. -
Quote:Protean's the head Lore guy now.Agreed, though it's more likely both. The viking culture comes with its own mythology. I got the inference of myth from the names Valkyrie and Battle Maiden which are synonyms for each other.
Personally I'd love for Manticore (if he's still around) to chime in with a bit more info on War Earth.
And he does play his cards quite close to his chest at times -
Quote:Although not too much. I do sometimes worry about you guys; there's a fast growing, almost Liefeldian obsession, albeit with shiny instead of pouchesCertainly underscores how much fresher she'd look in some proper reflective parts.
"It needs more reflections! MORE! Put reflections on the hair! And the teeth! And the EYES! Bwuahahahaha!"
