Heaven forbid they are, y'know, double and triple checking things to make sure it doesn't break again?
'Need' is a bloody stupid word to use when it comes to getting complicated equipment back online.
Idiot fleshlings and their whining... -

Quote:Ha. Haha. Ahahahaha!Micromanagement of Mastermind henchmen isn't a problem, technically speaking. It's just not necessary very often.
Oh, boy, I wish that were true.
Technically, MM pets are a nightmare, especially at the moment. Ranged pets seem hell-bent on running up and brawling anything and everything in the face. They don't use power in the right way at times. They sometimes completely ignore orders and do their own thing.
On a technical level? I'd say MMs are currently majorly bugged. But sod all is being done about it. They've been that way since Demons came in and were patched which was...what, how long ago?
Being able to FORCE your damn silly minions to stand still and not be allowed to move so they HAVE to shoot would be great! No, 'Stay' does NOT work. Go try it; they will shoot once on Aggressive, then run off to punch things in the face again. I tried it on defensive too. Same result. -
And this is why I will keep plugging for a Rikti EAT, above any others.
The Rikti are cool. They are a unique group, with distinct looks, their own aesthetics and are perhaps one of the biggest columns in the CoH lore. Without them, there would be no Paragon or Rogue Isles as we know them today.
The Rikti also have a huge scope for story, on both Hero AND Villain side;
Hero:
You are a member of the Traditionalists, whether through birth on the Rikti homeworld and either staying true to the Old Ways or defecting at a later date from the Lineage of War, or as a former Primal Human who, through various means, has evolved to new heights.
You value the Old Ways, discussion and thought over the rashness of the Restructurists. Your allegiance is to the Rikti Way, and to the Treaty with mankind, a unity for the greater good. That is not to say you are afraid of getting your hands dirty; sometimes sacrifices must be made.
Villain:
You are a member of the Restructurists, or maybe even a now-Rogue free-agent. Whether a Rikti born or a Lost convert, you threw in your lot with the Lineage of War.
What you do now, though, is up to you. Either follow Hro'Dtohz and his visions for a new Rikti Dominion, where the strong survive and rule, or strike out fully on your own, with your new dreams and vision that are grander than any of them can imagine.
---
And that's not even getting started on the branching ATs. I would suggest Warrior and Mentalist, two distinct ATs with their own unique, and perhaps a common pool, of powers. -
Quote:^ ThisWhat's the point of having something be hard to find if it lights up with a bright shiny sign telling you exactly where it is?
The exploration badges are a nice thing to do IF you want to. People who stumble across them and go 'Eh, neat, whatever' need never be bothered by them, while those that go 'Ooooh shinymusthavemoar!' can read up on them a bit more and then go hunting. Same goes for Supergroups that need them for Base TPs.
Sorry, I don't want to see something else unobtrusive and harmless being ruined by giant eye-sores... -
It is a minor annoyance, but still there.
/Signed, can't see the harm in it -
Praetorian technology: Unsubtle; Soon obsolete
Praetorians: Unable to cope; Overgrown fungus
Praetorians: Inferior
Rikti: Superior
All Hail: Lineage of War

So, this will be 'fixed' in the same timescale as all the AE bugs (bugged censor is still causing havoc) and MM pets being derptarded, then?
Hope you like many year waits, kids... -

I'd just be happy to see the Pulse go. That's not challenge, not in the slightest. It's just cheap. And cheap is never fun (in games)
-
And this is why content you outlevel should auto-exemplar you. So you don't WASTE it.
It's really that simple... -
Quote:^ QFT and agreed... because, by their own admission, *they didn't consider it.*
That's like pulling a Henry Ford and making a line of cars all in black, then saying "We didn't think people would want other colors." (I know that's not why he did it.) And you're arguing that, basically, the design of a car includes the requirement that it's black because all cars so far have been black, since they never considered people wanting something else.
There is nothing in being an incarnate that's inherently tied with teaming. How do I know? I step out and still have my level shift and alpha slot working when I run missions in the RWZ. I still have my Judgement, Lore, Interface and Destiny working. It's designed to be *high end* content (not least because the powers vanish below 45 just due to general design of the game) but it's not inherently "team-only" - other than the utterly *blind* lack of consideration that people would want solo/small team content.
Which, given this game's history, is like opening up a baseball stadium and being amazed people want to see a baseball game there. -
Quote:No one ha- correction. No one SANE has ever asked that Soloists be able to progress at the same rate as Team triallers. That would be stupid. It would also break continuity with the past seven years, e.g. teams have always gone faster. To those who think the Signature Story rewards are the promised "Solo Path" to Incarnate:
It isn't.
Was never intended to be.
It's simply a bonus being given to players who play the Sig Stories.
The solo path Incarnate stuff is later. By the time you guys really pushed to having us include it, 21 was already locked down, content-wise.
Also note: Solo Path does not equal "at the same rate as those who do Trials". Those players will ALWAYS advance through the system faster. Otherwise the Trails will shrivel up and die, and those people who (gasp) like them will never get a chance to run them.
The fact that you guys were actually surprised people wanted a solo option in this game, when so many people have always found CoH solo friendly, is rather baffling.
Then again, you also expected us to all love the CoT redesigns. That went....not well? -
I would also like to apologise for flying somewhat far off the hook at certain points last night. Let's just say that some of the arguments have come up before and I still stand by my views that one person has a persecution complex going, as well as flat out ignoring talk and explanations when they are offered. And being accused when I wasn't in fact involved directly in any of the RP was somewhat...hurtful?
But yeah, sorry for type-shouting and coming across as a tad of a git where I did. Discussion is a good thing, as the others have pointed out, and is pretty much mandatory for satisfactory (for all) RP. The threads and wiki do cover as much stuff as possible and, realistically, it'd be darn hard to record *everything* to happen ever. For one thing, some of it effects such a small portion of people (Inter-SG stuff, 1-1 people etc) that it's only relevant if it needs to be.
So, yeah. Talking is indeed good. -
Quote:Oh please...Find a single post where she calls a single REAL person a pervert. you overreact, a lot, its your thing, but taking her comments about general comic book villainy(which is, i remind you PRETEND) as indicators of her judging you personally is just indicative of an complete and utter loss of rational perspective. you have made comments where you have suggested she, not a comic book character or an abstract concept as a superhero, is of limited intelligence or bigoted. do you see the concept between making an in character comment about a pretend concept and making a direct personal attack. and people like tech, schis and others go further. quit pretending you are a victim here.
Yes, because clearly the mods of the old forums and the forums of another game all totally over-reacted and were pretending to be victims, naturally...

Quote:You called?I really hope they aren't thinking those will be the top sellers when people will have to pay real money to get. I don't think there is enough face palm in the world to express my thoughts if the marketing team did think these will continue to be bought when this goes live.

Quote:Agreed.Keep in mind when the FIRST pic of the CoT revamp came out, few would have looked at it and have been able to identify it as such without first being told. They were, and still are are, a considerable step away from the old look.
.
Sadly... The CoT didn't look *bad*, just low quality graphics. So that argument wouldn't keep the Vahz safe either. -
Quote:^ThisThat kind of disappoints me, the general attitude I mean.
"New shiney, get new shiney, come on new shiney!"
"Erm...could you kind of...you know, take a breath, pause and make some of the legacy powersets up to snuff...I mean Forcefield just provides defense and more defense...which at high levels, especially with IOs and Incarnate buff powers, becomes rather useless..."
"No, don't care, look at the new shiney!"
Tweaking sets like Forcefield to be more relevant is low hanging fruit, not like they're making an entire new powerset.
I'm still on the fence about Freedom and this kind of fudges the deal towards not really liking, the attitude of 'new shiney!' has now really become the focus (it has been for quite some time, examples being the AE (developed, pushed and then given up on completely) and Cimerorea (promised more expansion beyond taskforce and the two contacts never showed up)) instead of tweaking, revamping and such alongside perhaps a slower push of everything shiney in peoples faces all the time to make a buck kind of attitude.
The Atlas park revamp only happened purely to rope in the Free2Play people, that's it. No other reason beyond that, despite complaints of the Atlas park/Galaxy/Mercy intro sucking for years, the only reason it got fixed was to draw in more punters.
From now on that's going to be the ONLY focus, drawing in more punters to pony up for things.
It's weird because I've actually begun playing a Free2Play model game most of the time now and...to be fair...I personally feel that they seem to be doing it a bit better than the CoH team will do.
However the free2play questing in that game is severly neutered compared to the Subscriber game (the number of quests available triples or even quadruples the moment you subscribe) which compared to CoH where all but the signature story arcs and First Ward will be unavailable is quite the contrast.
Anyone who knows me at all will now how much I banged on about Revamp>New Shiny, for the simple and irrefutable fact that revamping stuff IS making it a new and shiny for everyone.
Veterans don't have to play the same, tired old crap that was thought to be a good idea back in I0, and new comers never have to see said crap at all, and thus have a smoother, better game experience, rather than going from all the new stuff, to a sudden jarring, grating standstill when they run into the old stuff and missions and go 'Dear god, what the hell is this junk?!'
Now, yes, cynical sarcasm IS my modus operandi, but I surely can't be the only one to think that 'Missions with good story, diverse objectives and new mission/contact tech with branching dialogue and options' kicks 'Defeat All, large outside map, no new mechanics. Do over ten times' so far out of the ball park that it gets its own Team Rocket glint as it exits the atmosphere.
The Devs are proud of the new mission tech. Rightly so! It's bloody awesome! I have loved, without fail, the new missions they've released since D-Mac and crew first sleazed onto the scene. The missions have been fun, the sort of fun that I could play again and again and again and never get bored, the same thing that has actually kept me going Hollows-> Faultline for so many years.
So WHY is it apparently so hard to make that leap for others zones, for other old missions that are godawful in comparison? Why is it indeed acceptable to leave the old I0 stuff in-game? We still have Unai Kemons (or whoever it is) 'Farm 10 identical missions on varying large and frustrating outdoor maps clicking double figure glowies' and junk like that....why, exactly?
Yes, revamping a whole zone a la Atlas I21 is a lot of work. What part of 'JUST FIX THE CONTACTS' does apparently not compute? While a full zone overhaul would indeed be nice, it is not in fact necessary when all it would take to make a vast improvement on the game would be to gut out all the old dross and put in new, interesting contacts with interesting mission arcs and stories. Yes, that too is still a lot of work, but LESS so than an entire zone revamp.
---
The same could be said for Powersets, a la Forcefield. Super Reflexes is another one that I would cite as 'under-performing', especially in the end game where defences make as much difference as holding up a paper back to in-coming cheesewire. Stone Armour was cited by Castle as being "31 levels of suck for 18 levels of nigh-unkillable" and yet it's still stuck the way it is a couple of years since that comment.
In all, 'NEW SHINIES!!1' is not, never has and never will be, an answer for making sure the chassis of the game is rock solid and rust-free. You can slap as much paint, as many decals and as big an exhaust on your car as you want; it still won't change the fact that it might be a crummy old hatch-back underneath. -
Quote:Yeah. Right. Sure....O
I asked about rifle models proliferated to all rifle sets. They said some wouldn't make sense, I said flamethrower out of sniper rifle doesn't make sense, Posi then said it's not as easy as just porting them over.
Remind me how a sniper rifle/shotgun tommy gun makes sense, again? Or, as said, a flamer sniper? Or a Sniper with that big a clip for full auto? Or any of the six-cylinder pistols being able to do what they do? Or-
'Not as easy' sounds like an excuse for 'We don't want to'. If there IS a genuine technical reason?
Sort it. -
Elephant and Castle?!
I worked at a pub called that...in England O_o
Also; how come the IDF get gloves with glows independent of the gauntlet?! Gah! Envy. -
