Quote:No one's asking for a 'ranged' set for Scrappers. That would be stupid.Cmon guy, surely you see the difference between a handful of short-medium ranged weapons/attacks that are accessory to the melee sets and an entire ranged set, right? I'm not saying they'll never do it because it's not for me to say. But from my perspective, I'd rather them worry about other things than crafting a ranged attack set for melee characters.
People are asking for-
*Google fails*
Ok, go watch the Korean City of Heroes trailer with Spark Blade in it. The scrapper with a sword AND a pistol. -
Quote:Claws: Focus, ShockwaveThe problem you will never get around is that pistols are not a melee weapon and scrappers are a melee AT.
Spines: Impale, Throw Spines
Kinetic Melee: Repulsing Torrent, Focused Burst
Blaze Mastery
Body Mastery
-Every other mastery, all of which have ranged attacks in them
So...what was your point again? -
Quote:Excellent, then I can praise the concept art team (plzgizzajob?) while hammering on the modelling team 'Y U no make CoT look as good as this?!'Thanks. This is actually a highly abridged version of the art. Will try to post a bunch of concept after Freedom launches, and you can check out the complete version then.
In case it wasn't clear enough, I still think the new CoT need work and, indeed, fixing. The costume are too busy. Those concepts have plenty of blank, solid colour space which helps even them out. The new ones have repeated raised patterns with only two-tone colours and no gaps. This makes them INSANELY busy looking, and not very good, to put it frankly.
That, and they still look too WoW-like >_> -

I think Brand means Rain of Bullets, the TAoE, not the Tier 9 PBAoE Hail of Bullets
I'd love to see a Scrapper and Dominator Blade and Pistol set. Because, let's face it, having mid-short ranged attacks in Scrappers is NOT overpowered. If so, Spines, Claws, Kinetics and a few others haven't been informed that they should be imba -
Quote:None. I saw the down-time and related threads...and went and played Minecraft instead.I would be interested in knowing what character(s) and what server(s) Hyperstrike, Techbot Alpha, Memphis Bill, et al, played last night. My inclination would be to believe that they weren't in the pool of those who were forced to look elsewhere for entertainment, so what does it matter to them? How many level 4's were you guys playing last night?
-
Infernus, I'm not a technician. I just understand that technology is a fickle master and often loves to go wrong in many ways at once
-
And some of the guys and gals are relatively new. They may genuinely not KNOW about the miles long list of 'Do Want' from over the years.
So let's remind them -
Quote:I'm not disputing that, not in the slightest. I often find myself in the same boat; it depends very heavily on what mood and mindset I am in when it comes to picking characters. If I'm not in the right frame of mind, I often find myself simply logging off and finding something else to do.To be fair, Tech, that kind of stamp-out attitude tends to trod on actual legitimate arguments as a matter of course, and that really helps no-one, but to create even more animosity. The argument that if one server goes down, you can just play on another only works for a certain type of player, that is one who is just fine swapping between characters. This isn't the case for all of us. I grew up on single-character games and RPGs that, though they offered multiple characters, really emphasised you playing just one for the most part. When that one character I had in mind to play is unavailable or, worse still, becomes corrupted or turns out to be broken... There isn't much else left to do.
Now, I'm not saying asking for compensation for stupid things is justified. It isn't. These days, people will seemingly ask for compensation from the weather forecast if the sky was a bit too cloudy. However, not all complaints are completely and utterly devoid of reason and not all of them should be should be shot down with reckless abandon and total disregard. Even if people don't always react to problems in a constructive way, some problems really do exist.
However, that is all kind of moot when servers are down. There's not much you CAN do other than find something to do. And that's no one's fault, really. It's when people come on harping on like the Devs are specifically going out of their way to hassle them (and only them, not anyone else. Their inconvenience and annoyance is of course paltry to the primary complainant) that I break out the sarcasm because, honestly, it'll be fixed when it's fixed.
Damned either way; if the servers are up and buggy there will be whining, and if they're down to be fixed there is whining. C'est la vie.
(Oh, and when people start off-handedly insulting me, my intelligence and my life, despite not even living on the same continent as me, let alone country, despite not knowing me at all and yet somehow apparently having interior knowledge that even I don't have about myself. Really, there is no 'right' or 'logical' answer to such guff)

Good spot on the heel, I didn't notice. Yeah, that doesn't look so good. And the 'figure hugging' comment is true.
But it looks better than the overkill use of raised pattern on the last batch of screenshots.
Y'know, I'm still wondering why they don't include female Arachnos soldiers while they are at it. Not just because of VEATs; the original CoV art book had some AWESOME sketches for Arachnos soldiers...male AND female. Yet only the blokes ever made it in.
Here we go;

Quote:Do you even bother to give any consideration to what I and others are saying, or do you skip straight on to the accusations and *****ing?Really? Do you just hit reply and not think about what you're posting? I very much understand what Bill is saying to me, but I don't agree and consider it an acceptable alternative.
How about looking at this from the Dev/Support point of view; The servers were very clearly nertzed. Likely everyone was on hand to try and get the darn things back to working state ASAP, which likely takes a fair while when you;
1) Have to figure out what the hell was wrong in the first place
2) Get rid of the wrong-causing thing
3) Get a patch in to make everything work again
4) Get the servers down, patched and up again and make sure they STAY up
Oh, and 5) put up with people screaming about how horrible they are for something that is about as much their fault as...well, something they have little control over. Can you see the future in the machines? If so, I'm sure they'd love to hire you.
But, apparently, trying to be logical and reasonable about problems (And, yes, I WOULD have liked to go on last night too. But, strewth almighty, it's not the end of the bleeding world) is enough to get me labelled a boot and *** licker and Dev Apologist.
So, really, why should I bother with straight-faced replies to ingratiating little ****s with the common courtesy of pond-bilge, when I can have fun watching them rage instead? -
*Checks date*
If there were to be an outage a week today, then not a damn would be given from me...
*Loads Bolter, goes Ork stomping* -
Quote:Aye, similar time here in the UK.Yesterday's maintenance for me was 2 PM to 8 PM. Considering I got home from work early at around 2:05 PM, that was essentially my entire day. For that entire day, I played Human Revolution, instead.
I played Minecraft and lol'd at the forums -
Quote:Ditto Europe. When we had maintenance and downtime in the past, often slap bang in the middle of Prime Time, we were often told by American Players "Suck it up" and "Deal with it".I see it as a demonstration to many other players what I, in an East Asian timezone, occasionally have to put up with.
Funny how, now that it's the other way around, they are the wrongful aggrieved and we are Dev apologist boot-lickers -

Quote:Because the Devs hate you.Why is the only server that matters not online??!!
Youd think theyd fix the one with the most people therefor customers first.
Not anyone else, just you. They specifically go out of their way to target you and only you as much as possible, you're that important. You should feel honoured they brought everything down, just to spite you. -
-
Quote:Ah, you've seen it too?Essentially it doesn't matter what you say, agree or disagree. The vitriol takes on a life of its own and simply strikes the closest target. A mindless tentacled rage beast with a soul forged of purest whine.
Beware: it has many faces and a host of names, but the smell is always the same.
One of Us -
See, this looks awesome. Even with the exposed faces, no less.
So, why do the screen-shotted CoT NPCs (not shown here) not look anywhere near as good as the concept art? Something was definitely lost in translation there. The concepts obey the 3-point rule, they have flat spaces and subtle patterns that aren't shoved in your face...they look fitting of CoH (kudos to Davids team, once more)
They look great. The NPC models don't. Why is this? -
Quote:I like how you took the time to read the EULA so you can prove people wrong on the foums.Quote:He probably just read it for entertainment value. This is the internet. Anyone who disagrees with me is not only automatically wrong, but stupid as well.
I DO have better things to do with my evening than read the EULA...like...uhm..playing Minecraft? >_>
Hey, it's the end of the day over here, I'm allowed to laze about -

Quote:It's a fair point, and I only 'shoot down' people that are already making perfect fools of themselvesMy point was this was where the other games started then they started doing big hardware and server updates and then the problems started. The game was down at least once a week. I say they need to give us something for what we have paid, my opinion, you may not agree and you have that right but I also have the right not to be shot down.
However, that said, the EULA does actually mean that, no, they don't have to. Going on the written agreement, we're lucky they are actually giving us as much warning as humanly possible with this sort of thing; they are under no obligation (i.e. can bring servers and services down without warning)
The Devs and support team are only human. I'm sure they don't do this just to sp-
Ok, correction; I'm sure all of them except Black Pebble and Doc Aeon don't do this to spite us. Villains and all that -
Quote:You see here, this, THIS is exactly what I'm talking about. You don't know me, how long I've played CoH/V, what my background is...
Heck, you don't even know my physical characteristics to afford you the pleasure of figuring out if insulting me is a wise decision or simply a sad and pathetic attempt to brandish your E-member immediately prior to it be removed from your ethereal person.
So, some folks will sit there, gingerly wiping their cheetos-stained fingers on the moist lemon-scented cleansing square before touching their only link to the outside world; where they feel akin to gods, heroes, warriors bold... They rant and rave about nothing and everything, secure in the knowledge that the technology has not yet been made that may threaten them in their little village of a dominion.
I find it laughable and sad that some are compelled, nay, FORCED to bestow upon us, the unwashed masses, their gentle pearls of wisdom and jewels of expository logic. These same said souls wouldn't know a kind word or a meaningful interpersonal relationship not bestowed by a relative or something they have to inflate.
So, go ahead, continue your diatribes and little venom spewing parties... Continue to lay down your frillions of stories, anecdotes, musings, rants and nonsensical ravings. It wastes no one's time who will miss it.
We play a "game." It is, in and of itself, a time waster. Should the game dissolve into the ether tomorrow, and, as Shakespeare said, "leave not a rack behind," we will, by and large, find a new time waster to busy ourselves with.
That being said, I would appreciate this time waster to be available to me as quickly as possible.
Well said that man.
As an aside to that, anyone who finds my cynical typings to be of personal offence...well, you'll have to get across the pond, first -
Quote:To put things in some perspective here, this is probably the most downtime that CityOf has had in...well, ever? It's also the first time to my knowledge that they've been messing with server hardware to any great degree.Yes it is the forum and people do have the right to their opinion I've not seen where anyone is flaming the devs. However I started only a short time ago and this kind of thing drove me away from another game I used to play because every week there was a major crisis. I'm not saying it will happen here but 2 weeks in a row doesn't give me a good feeling. I like this game I really do, but I"m hoping this will be the last of the extensive down times.
Put in context of CoH uptime vs other game uptime, I'd bet heavily on CoH being amongst the best for being up far, far more than it's down. Given the changes in server hardware, I don't think the current up-down-ness is honestly that unreasonable. If it helps Freedom come up smoother, so be it I say.
