Well, my account was created on 7th of September, 2006. So, just over 4 years.
It seems they removed the 'Vet rewards earned' section from the account, so I can't tell where I was exactly without logging in.
Which I obviously can't -
Quote:Which is all subjective. The irony of people saying they'd "pay hundreds of dollars to get the Celestial set today" is that IMHO the Celestial set is not really all that super-cool to begin with. Sure it's relatively nice and it does have the only "energy wings" in the game so far. But after playing around with it for the last several weeks on Beta I've decided there are a number of costume sets I still like better. The Ascension Armor for instance is much nicer and more epic looking.
I guess what I'm saying is that it's probably not such a bad thing that we can't "pay-forward" for it after all. I have a feeling a lot of people who might have done that would have been majorly disappointed. *shrugs*
I think the A-Pieces look like...'A', and the Celestial pieces look like canned Win with Win Sauce -
Quote:I could find use for some of the parts. With the exception of two pieces (cape and chest emblem), wearing Ascension is a great way to show you are NOT cool. Most of the stuff is *** ugly.
And, really, it's the principle of the thing. I can't even entertain the idea of a character using those parts, when the character would look 'wrong' for 49 levels. -
Quote:True.I'm amused that people attribute something they don't like to one person.
Last I checked, they had these things called "meetings," where a bunch of developers--including Matt Miller and Melissa Bianco--get together, toss around ideas, hone them into implementable solutions, and drive them to be rolled out. It's not like Matt Miller comes in to work and tells all the other devs, "I'm Positron, dammit, this is the way it will be done. Make it so!"
I will say that he probably champions certain ideas that he personally likes, but it will probably be nigh impossible to tell which ideas those were. As I recall, the Mission Architect wasn't his baby, it was someone else's, so trying to lay any perceived woes with it at his doorstep is kind of silly.
I've never had any particular axes to grind with any member of the development team, even when things were run by Jack Emmert. I think it's kind of sad, though, how some people feel the incessant need to go blaming people for some 3% of the game they don't like and completely ignoring the 97% that is <bleep!>ing awesome.
However, he is the only one I can remember *repeatedly* doing things like nay-saying revamps instead of new shinies (I know Melissa did say it once or twice, but was nowhere near as resistant to the idea)
And hey, this is the Internet! SOMEONE has to be to blame! -
It's more the mulish resilience of 'New shinies are better than revamps!' (although I hope Atlas and Mercy are a sign of more to come) that bugs me.
That and I STILL don't approve of the iTrials and ESPECIALLY not the 'You have to be this cool to wear it' Ascension Armour. -
Quote:Not to be picky (and not saying you're wrong, either. Although I would argue 'only' three yearsI stuck to facts. But the facts are that it takes only about 3 years of simply continuously subscribing to the game to go from Tier 1 to Tier 8 with the new system. Was trying to provide some perspective. Sorry if that is not to your liking.
And yeah, three years can be a long time. It can go by in the blink of an eye. Didn't expect to be here 7 years later myself.) but this doesn't have anything to do with the OP topic or request.
-
Some of the actions certainly hint at that...
And no, I do not mean that in a good way. Matt is a good guy by all accounts (never met him, thanks to being in the EU =/ ), but he seems damn resistant to certain common sense ideas... -
-
Quote:Except there is no other way to get these pieces.Problem solved. If you can't get them no you can just get them later.
I find that unacceptable. Especially when those are the ONLY energy wings in the entire damn game.
Some people may not give two hoots about costumes and the like. There are those of us that do. And to have such parts locked behind the very last, top tier of the rewards program is objectionable and a jerk move. It was when they first announced it, and it still is now. -
Quote:It's not the system I object to. I know full well that it is better than the old one, and welcome that. Not to tell you what to think on this one, but this seems like a bit of an overreaction. Consider that any account will earn 39 tokens in just three years of VIP subscription with zero additional purchases. This means that a BRAND SPANKING NEW ACCOUNT made today would be well into tier 8. With the former vet program, what did 3 years get you? And again, you can buy in for additional points. So if that very same new account decided to buy the equivalent of our booster packs, purchasing say $30 worth of additional points each year, they'd end their 3 year stretch with another 7 tokens total (including the bonus for first $$ purchase at the Paragon Store.) That's 46 tokens through what we've been doing normally. Giving a new account access to all the premium loyalty rewards. These rewards are going to unlock faster for folks than I think some people realize.
I do not, and WILL not, ever agree with locking costume parts behind the higher tiers of vet rewards, however. I thought they'd learned that lesson with stuff like wings and trenchcoats, which are at least down in the very first few tiers.
But to have "Oh hey guys, we finally ponied up and made the energy wings that people have been begging for for years along with one of the few glowmap armours ever!" and then follow through with a kick in the fork to the tune of "Oh, and you can only get it from the very top tier of rewards and even then only if you're subbed"?
That's as much farmyard faeces as the "Only level 50s are cool enough to wear this" Ascension Armour. -

Quote:^ This, /SignedSimple enough request. I would like to give NCSoft money, and in return, receive the cool new costume pieces and especially the energy wings (a costume piece I have been asking for for two years) in return.
After the whole 'we don't want to lock meaningful stuff and costumes behind long time vet rewards' and this set being the ONLY set of energy wings and one of the few glow-map armours?
Let's just say my opinion of this can be summed up with two words or one picture;
-
Or I would do, if it let me. Ah well, edited with a link to the real thread
-
Right, only two issues that I will voice;
1) Has the AE censor bug, y'know, the one which CRIPPLES an insane amoung of legit arcs for no good reason, dealt with? If not...Why. The Frag. Not?
2) Is there STILL no option to turn the damn spinning discs of lame off? We've managed fine for years without them, some of us LIKE not having giant, WoW-esque visual vomit there, thanks very much...
That said?
BRING IT ON! -
If you delete your post Spec, I can remove that thread. Posted mine over to the other thread now

Paragon City, Atlas Park
Chiron Medical Centre
Around Midday
The syringe shattered as it hit the floor, glass shards ringing in the sudden silence. Doctors and patients alike turned with puzzled and shocked stares as Doc Vixen, known to the City as the Heroine Kitsune Vixen, stumbled and clutched at her head.
"Doc?" the young man on the chair beside her, who had until a second ago been more concerned about not flinching from the standard injection and looking like a wuss in front of the pretty young woman, asked with a look of concern.
"T-The sound..." she managed to gasp, head snapping up and staring, wide eyed and panicked, out the window. "Can't...can't you hear it?!"
The others turned, watching in stunned silence as, a few miles away, glowing trails appeared in the sky above Galaxy City...

Krimzon Guard Command Bunker
"Ma'am? We've got confirmation. They've entered the atmosphere, on the course the Fateweavers and Fortunatas predicted."
"Very well, Lieutenant. Keep me posted on troop movements."
The large Crab Spider sat back in her chair, smirking faintly behind her helmet. Webmaster Commander Marian King had been incredibly irate with the sudden order to halt troop movements and delay to their plans to assault their current target, the group known as the Corporation.
Now, however, the carnage about to be unleashed on those weak idiots in Paragon very nearly made up for it...

Paragon City
Freedom Court
Some time later...
Burning. Disintegrating concrete and melting girders. The occasional, horrific whiff of charred human flesh.
Those were the sensations that assaulted even the robotic senses of Chief Centurion Z1. Nearby the Hound Brothers, Wolf and Fox, were trying to shepherd fleeing civilians with the aid of Colonel Lyndon, Vix and a squad of Vanguard rangers.
That progress was coming to a grinding halt, however...
A scream alerted them to the threat. Even as the glowing mass of ectoplasma, rubble and twisted metal lurched at the crowd of terrified office workers, doctors, children and everday citizens, the Chief hurled himself in it's path, smashing the thing repeatedly with energised fists until it crumbled and fell.
"Colonel, ETA on that evac?" he shouted over the screams and growing sound of devastation.
"No time soon!" Colonel Lyndon shouted back, energy shield and sword activating as more of the alien abominations hauled themselves from the rubble and craters, each as terrifying as the last, "Air support is pretty much locked down...or being intercepted."
"Intercepted? Who the hell by?!" Wolf yelled back, unloading an entire clip into a shambling mass in front of him, the high calibre shells eventually blowing enough holes in it to stop it dead.
"Arachnos!" Vix replied, trying to keep the crowd together, "The-" her curse was lost in a sudden explosion, "-are capitilising on the chaos! I'm amazed even scum like them would stoop this low!"
"Guys, we've got a bigger problem right now," Fox interrupted, his pointed gauntlet somewhat redundant as a fast approaching horde of the new Shivans rumbled towards them.
"Hold the line!" Chief shouted, placing himself squarely between them and the civilians, resigning himself to do or die...
---
It wasn't to be. There was a sudden sensation of weight, followed by an ear-popping release of pressure. Half of the Shivans simply disintegrated, crushed mid-stride. The rest were caught in the flank by a flurry of high-powered, energized punches.
SABRE team watched in awe as Sister Psyche and Back Alley Brawler tore the horde to shreds of rubble in seconds.
"We've got them!" Shalice shouted back to them, before turning and telekinetically hurling a particularly large Shivan into a second group. "Get the civilians out of here!"
"We can't just leave you guys here without support!" Vix yelled back, beginning to move up to try and support them.
"You won't be!"
---
There was a ear-splitting crack, the second group of Shivans annihilated in a flash of light. A figure rose from the steaming crater, sparks of lightning crackling over him as he turned to the team and the Vanguard troops.
"We need that perimeter secured, and we need to get as many people as humanly and super-humanly possible out of here," Statesman said, back-handing a rising Shivan in the face without even turning. "Can you do that? We can deal with the direct threat...but we can't be everywhere. Please."
The group didn't even need to give it first thought.
"Consider it done. All units, fall back to rally point B, on the double!" Lyndon shouted, turning and gesturing to the Vanguard soldiers nearby. Fox, Wolf and Vix turned and followed. Above them, a squadron of Longbow chasers roared in over the rubble of building, half continuing deeper into the inferno while half split off and formed a flying cordon above the feeling civilians.
"Marcus!"
Statesman turned to see the Chief throw a salute.
"Good luck," the giant robot shouted over the roar of engines and charging Shivans, "And stay alive!"
Statesman saluted in return, a ghost of a smile playing over his face for a second.
"Count on it. Now get them out of here!"
SABRE team and the Vanguard troops disappeared from sight, the last thing they heard before vanishing being the crash of energy gauntlets and the enraged shouting of Back Alley Brawler;
"Get. The. HELL. Off. My. LAWN!" -
I guess we can always post our bits over and then leave the other one to rot. I just assumed that Z's thread was for her char-related stuff. If it's cool to post in that, cool beans
-
I assumed that was for Z char-specific stuff, and didn't want to butt in if it was. *shrug*
-
65% done already. I'd rather do a fresh DL than copy the Beta, just in case
Now then...
Freeeeedoooom!
